Claims
- 1. A digital modulator having a modulation circuit with a quadrature amplitude modulation scheme, comprising:
- carrier signal supplying means for supplying the modulation circuit with a carrier signal having a carrier frequency derived from a symbol rate;
- radio frequency generation means for generating a radio frequency signal having a predetermined radio frequency;
- difference frequency generation means for generating a difference frequency signal having a frequency equal to a difference between the predetermined radio frequency and the carrier frequency, by subtracting the carrier signal supplied by said carrier signal supplying means from the radio frequency signal generated by said radio frequency generation means; and
- upconversion means for converting a frequency of an output of the modulation circuit up to the predetermined radio frequency by using the difference frequency signal generated by said difference frequency generation means, whereby the resultant output frequency equals the predetermined radio frequency independently of the carrier frequency.
- 2. A digital modulator with a quadrature amplitude modulation scheme, comprising:
- modulation means for producing a modulated signal by applying quadrature amplitude modulation to baseband input signals:
- digital-to-analog conversion means, coupled to said modulation means, for converting the modulated signal, from digital form to analog form;
- high frequency boosting means, coupled to said digital-to-analog conversion means, for increasing amplitude of high frequency components contained in the modulated signal; and
- low pass filter means, coupled to said high frequency boosting means, for filtering out alias frequency components contained in the modulated signal.
- 3. A digital modulator with a quadrature amplitude modulation scheme, comprising:
- modulation means for producing a modulated signal by applying quadrature amplitude modulation to baseband input signals;
- high frequency boosting means, coupled to said modulation means, for increasing amplitude of high frequency components contained in the modulated signal;
- digital-to-analog conversion means, coupled to said high frequency boosting means, for converting the modulated signal from digital form to analog form; and
- low pass filter means, coupled to said digital-to-analog conversion means, for filtering out alias frequency components contained in the modulated signal.
