- 2. A digital signal recording apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the insertion position of the auxiliary data is controlled by the control means so that, when the selected recording mode is the long-time mode, said auxiliary data is inserted as a plurality of frames, said plurality of frames forming an edition unit.
- 3. A digital signal recording apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the recording means divides and records the data to which the auxiliary data is added on m×(2n+1) tracks (where m is 2, 4, 6, . . . and n is 1, 2, 3, . . . ) on the recording medium when the selected recording mode is the standard recording mode, while the recording means divides and records the data to which the auxiliary data is added on 2n+1 tracks on the recording medium when the selected recording mode is the long-time recording mode.
- 4. A digital signal recording apparatus for recording a digital signal on a recording medium, comprising:a mode setting means for setting a recording mode, the recording mode being one of a standard recording mode and a long-time recording mode having a longer recording time than that of the standard recording mode; a coding means for coding the digital signal so as to have a data amount corresponding to the recording mode set by the mode setting means, the data amount when the selected recording mode is the long-time recording mode being 1/n as small as the data amount when the selected recording mode is the standard recording mode, wherein n is an integer larger than 1; and a recording means for recording the coded data on a recording medium having a plurality of tracks without recording data belonging to different frames on the same track in the standard recording mode, and without recording data belonging to different frames on the same track in the long-time recording mode, each track having a plurality of blocks, wherein the recording means comprises: an address generating means for generating a block address designating one of the plurality of blocks, a track address designating one of the plurality of tracks in accordance with the recording mode set by the mode setting means, and a frame address for identifying each frame of the video signal, the address generating means generating a track address cyclically repeated at a period of n frames, wherein n is an integer larger than 1, when the selected recording mode is the long-time recording mode and a track address cyclically repeated at a period of one frame when the selected recording mode is the standard recording mode; and an address adding means for adding the track address to the coded data.
- 5. A digital signal recording apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the address generating means generates a track address having an identical value with respect to two adjacent tracks having respectively different azimuths among the plurality of tracks.
- 6. A digital signal recording apparatus according to claim 5, wherein, in the case of recording a currently used TV signal having 525 lines and 60 fields, the recording means records the n frames of the TV signal on ten tracks, while in the case of recording a currently used TV signal having 625 lines and 50 fields, the recording means records the n frames of the TV signal on twelve tracks.
- 7. A digital signal recording apparatus according to claim 6, wherein n=1 in the standard recording mode, and n=2 in the long-time recording mode.
- 8. A digital signal recording apparatus for recording a digital signal on a recording medium, the apparatus comprising:a mode indicator for indicating a recording mode, wherein the recording mode is one of a standard recording mode and a long-time recording mode having a longer recording time than the standard recording mode; an encoder for encoding the digital signal according to one of the recording modes to provide encoded data having a data amount, wherein the data amount of the digital signal encoded according to long-time recording mode is less than the data amount of the digital signal encoded according to the standard recording mode; an auxiliary data adder for adding auxiliary data to the encoded data, wherein the auxiliary data includes identification information indicating the recording mode, the auxiliary data adder including: an auxiliary data generator for generating the auxiliary data corresponding to the recording mode indicated by the mode indicator, a controller for generating, according to the recording mode, a control signal to indicate an insertion position in which to insert the auxiliary data, and an auxiliary data inserter for inserting the auxiliary data into the encoded data at the insertion position indicated by the control signal, wherein a period of said inserted auxiliary data is a constant, said constant being independent of the recording mode; and a recording means for recording on the recording medium the encoded data into which the auxiliary data is inserted.
- 9. A digital signal recording apparatus according to claim 8 wherein the controller generates the control signal to indicate a periodic insertion position having a period which is the same for both the standard recording mode and the long-time recording mode.
