Claims
- 1. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink and forming an image on a substrate having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen with said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said substrate.
- 2. A method of digital printing as described in claim 1, wherein said at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 3. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink on a substrate comprising at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen; and d. subsequently converting said at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen to at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen with at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said substrate.
- 4. A method of digital printing as described in claim 3, wherein said at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 5. A method of digital printing as described in claim 3, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 6. A method of digital printing as described in claim 4, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 7. A method of digital printing as described in claim 3, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 8. A method of digital printing as described in claim 4, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 9. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink on a first substrate to form an image on said first substrate, wherein said first substrate comprises at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen does not react with said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen on said substrate; and d. subsequently transferring said image from said first substrate to a second substrate, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen with said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said second substrate.
- 10. A method of digital printing as described in claim 9, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 11. A method of digital printing as described in claim 9, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen is a polyol.
- 12. A method of digital printing as described in claim 10, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen is a polyol.
- 13. A method of digital printing as described in claim 9, wherein said at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 14. A method of digital printing as described in claim 9, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 15. A method of digital printing as described in claim 13, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 16. A method of digital printing as described in claim 9, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen is an anhydride.
- 17. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink on a first substrate comprising at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, to form an image on said first substrate; and d. subsequently transferring said image from said first substrate to a second substrate, converting said at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen with at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said second substrate.
- 18. A method of digital printing as described in claim 17, wherein said at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 19. A method of digital printing as described in claim 2, wherein said protecting agent is removed by the application of heat.
- 20. A method of digital printing as described in claim 13, wherein said protecting agent is removed by the application of heat.
- 21. A method of digital printing as described in claim 18, wherein said protecting agent is removed by the application of heat.
- 22. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink and forming an image on a substrate having at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen with said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said substrate.
- 23. A method of digital printing as described in claim 22, wherein said ink comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 24. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink on a substrate comprising at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen; and d. subsequently converting said at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen to at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen with at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said substrate.
- 25. A method of digital printing as described in claim 24, wherein said ink further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 26. A method of digital printing as described in claim 24, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 27. A method of digital printing as described in claim 25, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 28. A method of digital printing as described in claim 24, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 29. A method of digital printing as described in claim 25, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 30. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising a colorant and at least one compound having at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink on a first substrate to form an image on said first substrate, wherein said first substrate comprises at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, and wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen does not react with said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen on said substrate; and d. subsequently transferring said image from said first substrate to a second substrate, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen with said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said second substrate.
- 31. A method of digital printing as described in claim 30, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 32. A method of digital printing as described in claim 30, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen is a polyol.
- 33. A method of digital printing as described in claim 31, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an isocyanate.
- 34. A method of digital printing as described in claim 31, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen is a polyol.
- 35. A method of digital printing as described in claim 30, wherein said at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 36. A method of digital printing as described in claim 30, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen is an epoxide.
- 37. A method of digital printing as described in claim 30, wherein said at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen is an anhydride.
- 38. A method of digital printing, comprising the steps of:
a. preparing an ink comprising at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and a colorant; b. supplying a printer with said ink; c. printing said ink on a first substrate comprising at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to a group containing active hydrogen, to form an image on said first substrate; and d. subsequently transferring said image from said first substrate to a second substrate, converting said at least one compound having at least one functional group available for conversion to at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen, and reacting said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen with at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, thereby bonding said image to said second substrate.
- 39. A method of digital printing as described in claim 38, wherein said at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen further comprises a protecting agent which, during printing of said ink, prevents a reaction between said at least one compound having at least one functional group which reacts with active hydrogen, and said at least one compound having at least one functional group containing active hydrogen.
- 40. A method of digital printing as described in claim 23, wherein said protecting agent is removed by the application of heat.
- 41. A method of digital printing as described in claim 25, wherein said protecting agent is removed by the application of heat.
- 42. A method of digital printing as described in claim 39, wherein said protecting agent is removed by the application of heat.
