Claims
- 1. A biomacromolecule encapsulated or immobilized within a mesoporous or nanoporous material produced via a surfactant-templated sol-gel reaction conducted at near neutral pH and near room temperature.
- 2. A method for producing encapsulated or immobilized biomacromolecules in mesoporous or nanoporous materials comprising:
conducting a surfactant-templated sol-gel reaction with the biomacromolecule at near neutral pH and near room temperature; and removing the surfactants to produce a biomacromolecule-containing sol-gel having structural characteristics of a mesoporous or nanoporous material.
