Claims
- 1. A disc brake comprising:
a piston seal fitted into a seal groove located on an inner surface of a cylinder of a caliper for a brake; a brake piston, said brake piston and the cylinder are sealed by the piston seal wherein substantially no clearance is provided between the piston seal and the seal groove in a direction in which the brake piston is slid; and a periphery clearance is provided between the piston seal and the seal groove.
- 2. The disc brake according to claim 1, wherein said piston seal is chamfered.
- 3. The disc brake according to claim 1, wherein said piston seal is rounded.
- 4. The disc brake according claim 1, wherein said seal groove is angled and said piston seal is chamfered.
- 5. The disc brake according to claim 2, wherein said piston seal comprises a concave groove.
- 6. The disc brake according to claim 1, wherein said piston seal does not contact the inner side surface of the seal groove.
- 7. The disc brake according to claim 2, wherein the inner side portion of said seal groove is substantially parallel with the brake piston.
- 8. The disc brake according to claim 1, wherein said piston seal is trapezoidal in shape and said seal groove is triangular in shape.
- 9. The disc brake according to claim 1, wherein said piston seal contacts at least one post at the inner portion of the seal groove.
- 10. The disc brake according to claim 2, wherein said piston seal groove comprises a spacer between the piston seal and the piston seal groove.
- 11. A disc brake comprising:
a piston seal made of rubber, said piston seal being fitted into a seal groove located on an inner surface of a cylinder of a caliper for a brake; a brake piston, said brake piston and the cylinder are liquid-sealed by the piston seal wherein substantially no clearance is provided between the piston seal and the seal groove in a direction in which the brake piston is slid; a periphery clearance is provided between the piston seal and the seal groove; and an inner wall of the seal groove is parallel to the brake piston.
- 12. The disc brake according to claim 11, wherein said piston seal is chamfered.
- 13. The disc brake according to claim 11, wherein said piston seal is rounded.
- 14. The disc brake according to claim 12, wherein said piston seal comprises a concave groove.
- 15. The disc brake according to claim 11, wherein said seal groove contacts the piston seal with at least one post.
- 16. The disc brake according to claim 11 and further including a spacer operatively positioned between the piston seal and the pistol seal groove.
- 17. A disc brake comprising:
a piston seal made of rubber is fitted into a seal groove located on an inner surface of a cylinder of a caliper for a brake; a brake piston, said brake piston and the cylinder are liquid-sealed by the piston seal; and substantially no clearance is provided between the piston seal and the seal groove in a direction in which the brake piston is slid.
