Claims
- 1. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium comprising:
- holding means for holding the magneto-optical recording medium introduced therein;
- a pair of cam members each having a cam groove that includes a first cam groove portion and a second cam groove portion, continuous with the first cam groove portion;
- driving means for driving said cam members in a horizontal direction;
- said holding means being movable along said first cam groove portion in the horizontal direction, to a first holding means position, in response to the driving means driving said cam members a first horizontal displacement and, from the first holding means position, along said second cam groove portion, in a direction having both a horizontal component and a vertical component, in response to the driving means driving said cam members a second horizontal displacement to a second holding means position;
- recording and/or reproducing means for recording and/or reproducing information signals on or from the magneto-optical recording medium, the magneto-optical recording medium being in a loaded position for reproducing information from the recording medium when said holding means is in the second holding means position, said recording and/or reproducing means having an optical pickup for radiating a light beam on the magneto-optical recording medium loaded therein, the recording and/or reproducing means also including a magnetic head arranged facing said optical pickup unit with the magneto-optical recording medium in-between, said magnetic head being movable between a first magnetic head position whereby the magnetic head is in contact with the magneto-optical recording medium and a second magnetic head position spaced apart therefrom; and
- magnetic head shifting means mechanically coupled to the cam members;
- input means for selecting a recording mode;
- wherein said magnetic head is maintained in the second position and said magnetic head shifting means shifts the magnetic head towards the first magnetic head position when the driving means drives the cam members a further horizontal displacement in response to selection of the recording mode of the input means after the magneto-optical recording medium is in the loaded position with the magneto-optical recording medium remaining in the loaded position.
- 2. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium according to claim 1 wherein at least one of said cam members includes a further cam groove in which said magnetic head shifting means is engaged for shifting said magnetic head towards the first magnetic head position when the driving means drives the cam members the further horizontal displacement.
- 3. A recording and/or reproducing mechanism according to claim 1, wherein said recording medium is held in a cartridge,
- wherein said cam members are moved an initial portion of the first horizontal displacement as a result of the cartridge mechanically abutting said cam members when said recording medium held in said cartridge is inserted, said cam members then setting said driving means into an operating state to drive said cam members a remaining portion of said first displacement.
- 4. A recording and/or reproducing mechanism according to claim 3, further comprising:
- a first lever rotated by said cartridge inserted into said holding means, and a second lever rotated in response to the rotation of said first lever and which permits the movement of said holding means.
- 5. A recording and/or reproducing mechanism according to claim 3, wherein:
- said holding means includes a slider for ejecting the cartridge inserted therein, said slider being moved at a pre-set speed for ejecting the cartridge by a horizontal movement of the cam members in an ejecting direction.
- 6. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium according to claim 1, and further including a casing having an opening into which the disc cartridge is introduced and ejected, wherein said casing has a lid rotatably mounted to a remainder of the casing, the lid being configured for being opened by the disc cartridge inserted via said opening for opening and closing said opening; and
- said cam member driving means having a cam gear formed with a cam and an arm engaged with said cam for rotating said lid.
- 7. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium according to claim 6, further comprising:
- a chassis on which the recording and/or reproducing means and said driving means are mounted and housed within said casing a pre-set distance from an inner wall of said casing, said chassis having a further cam groove cooperating with the cam grooves in said cam members for causing said holding means to be moved along said cam grooves in said cam members.
- 8. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a slide member slidably mounted on said holding means;
- a first lever pivotally mounted on said slide member and configured for being rotated by the disc cartridge; and
- a second lever engaged with said first lever pivotally mounted on said slide member, said second lever inhibiting movement of said slide member when said second lever is engaged with said first lever.
- 9. A recording and/or reproducing mechanism comprising:
- holding means for holding a recording medium;
- a pair of cam members each having a cam groove composed of a first cam groove for moving said holding means in a horizontal direction and a second cam groove continuous with the first cam groove and configured for moving said holding means in a vertical direction, said holding means being movable along said cam groove in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction in continuation to movement in the horizontal direction;
- a manually operable recording input means;
- means for recording and/or reproducing information to and from the recording medium, the recording and/or reproducing means including a magnetic head movable between a first position in contact with the recording medium and a second position spaced apart from the recording medium; and
- means for driving said cam members in the horizontal direction, the cam members being movable in the horizontal direction for a first horizontal displacement, a second horizontal displacement, a third horizontal displacement and a fourth horizontal displacement;
- wherein said cam members are moved the first horizontal displacement as a result of insertion of said recording medium;
- said cam members setting said driving means into an operating state as a result of insertion of said recording medium, said cam members causing said holding means to be moved in the horizontal direction along the first cam groove by the second horizontal displacement of said cam members in continuation of said first horizontal displacement;
- said cam members causing said holding means to be moved by the third horizontal displacement in continuation of the second horizontal displacement along the second cam groove to a loaded position for reproducing information from the recording medium with said magnetic head being in the second position; and
- said cam members moving said fourth horizontal displacement in response to manual operation of the recording input means, the cam members being operably coupled to the magnetic head thereby moving the magnetic head to the first position in response to the fourth horizontal displacement of the cam members with said holding means remaining in the loaded position.
- 10. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium housed within a disc cartridge, comprising:
- a casing having an opening for introducing and ejecting a disc cartridge;
- recording and/or reproducing means housed within said casing, the recording and/or reproducing means having a magnetic head for applying a perpendicular magnetic field to a magneto-optical recording medium, the recording and/or reproducing means also having an optical head;
- a manually operable recording input means;
- transporting means for loading the disc cartridge inserted via said opening on said recording and/or reproducing means, said transporting means having means for holding the disc cartridge and a pair of cam members each having a cam groove for moving said holding means in a horizontal direction in said casing and in a vertical direction consecutive to the movement in said horizontal direction in said casing; and
- means for driving said cam members in the horizontal direction in said casing;
- wherein said cam members are moved a first horizontal displacement as a result of insertion of said disc cartridge, said cam members setting said driving means into an operating state as a result of insertion of said disc cartridge during said first horizontal displacement, said cam members causing said holding means to be moved along said cam groove in said horizontal direction by a movement of said cam members a second horizontal displacement of said cam members consecutive to said first horizontal displacement, said cam members causing said holding means to be moved along said cam groove by a third horizontal displacement consecutive to said second horizontal displacement to a loaded position for reproducing information with said magnetic head being spaced apart from the recording medium;
- said driving means being operably coupled to said recording input means, the driving means displacing the cam members a fourth horizontal displacement when the recording button is manually operated to move said magnetic head to contact said recording medium with said holding means remaining in the loaded position.
- 11. A recording and/or reproducing mechanism comprising:
- holding means for receiving and holding a recording medium;
- a pair of cam members each having a cam groove comprising a first cam groove portion for moving the holding means in a horizontal direction and a second cam groove portion continuous with the first cam groove portion for moving the holding means in a vertical direction, the holding means being coupled for movement with the cam members along the cam groove;
- means for driving the cam members along the cam groove;
- means for recording and/or reproducing information to and from the recording medium, the recording and/or reproducing means including a magnetic head movable between a first position in contact with the recording medium and a second position spaced apart from the recording medium;
- means for shifting the magnetic head between the first position and the second position; and
- input means for selecting a recording mode;
- wherein insertion of the recording medium into the holding means causes the cam members to be moved a first horizontal displacement along the first cam groove portion thereby setting the driving means into an operating state;
- wherein the driving means thereafter drives the cam members a second horizontal displacement thereby causing the holding means to be moved along the first cam groove portion in continuation of the first horizontal displacement;
- wherein the driving means thereafter drives the cam members a third horizontal displacement thereby causing the holding means to be moved along the second cam groove portion in continuation of the second horizontal displacement to a loaded position for reproducing information with said magnetic head in the second position; and
- whereupon operating the input means to select the recording mode, the driving means thereafter drives the cam members a fourth horizontal displacement while the holding means remains in the loaded position thereby causing the shifting means to be engaged thereby causing the magnetic head to be moved to the first position for recording on the recording medium.
- 12. A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium housed within a disc cartridge, comprising:
- a casing having an opening for introducing and ejecting a disc cartridge;
- recording and/or reproducing means housed within the casing and movable between a first position in contact with the recording medium and a second position spaced apart from the recording medium;
- input means for selecting a recording mode;
- transporting means for loading the disc cartridge including means for holding the disc cartridge and a pair of cam members each having a cam groove for moving the holding means along the cam groove in a horizontal direction and in a vertical direction continuous to movement in the horizontal direction; and
- means for driving the cam members;
- wherein insertion of the disc cartridge into the casing causes the cam members to be moved along the cam groove in the horizontal direction for a first horizontal displacement thereby causing the driving means to be set into an operating state;
- wherein the driving means thereafter drives the cam members along the cam groove in the horizontal direction for a second horizontal displacement in continuation of the first horizontal displacement;
- wherein the driving means thereafter drives the cam members along the cam groove in the vertical direction for a third horizontal displacement in continuation of the second horizontal displacement thereby placing the disc cartridge into a loaded position for reproducing information with said magnetic head in the second position; and
- wherein the driving means are operably coupled to the input means such that upon operating the input means to select the recording mode, the driving means drive the cam members along the cam groove in the vertical direction for a fourth horizontal displacement and the magnetic head is moved to the first position while the disc cartridge remains in the loaded position.
