Claims
- 1. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head from a reproduced signal which becomes a source of said positional information which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, said processing circuit performs a predetermined averaging processing of said reproduced signal which is read by said head, and obtains said positional information by said averaging processing.
- 2. A storage device as defined in claim 1 in which said processing circuit includes A/D converting means for digitalizing said analog reproduced signal which is read by said head and obtains said positional information based upon the reproduced signal which has been digitalized.
- 3. A storage device as defined in claim 2 in which said processing circuit performs averaging processing of said reproduced signal which has been digitalized and obtains said positional information based upon a value which is obtained by said averaging processing.
- 4. A storage device as defined in claim 1 in which said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak values of said positional signal.
- 5. A storage device as defined in claim 4 in which said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value.
- 6. A storage device as defined in claim 1 in which said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak-to-peak values of said positional signal.
- 7. A storage device as defined in claim 6 in which said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value.
- 8. A storage device as defined in claim 1 in which said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value.
- 9. A storage device as defined in claim 1 in which said processing circuit determines an area of said reproduced signal which is read by said head and determines said positional information based upon a value which is obtained by said area.
- 10. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said processing circuit includes A/D converting means for digitalizing said analog positional signal which is read by said head and obtains said positional information based upon the positional signal which has been digitalized, further including means for changing the input sensitivity of said A/D converting means.
- 11. A storage device as defined in claim 10 in which said sensitivity changing means changes said input sensitivity in response to a separately input instruction.
- 12. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, and said averaging processing obtains a square average value of peak values of said positional signal.
- 13. A storage device as defined in claim 12 in which said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value.
- 14. A storage device as defined in claim 12 in which said processing circuit includes a PR equalizer and a learning circuit having an averaging circuit for optimizing said PR equalizer, said averaging processing being performed by the averaging circuit of said learning circuit.
- 15. A storage device as defined in claim 12 in which said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 16. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said processing circuit includes a PR equalizer and a learning circuit having an averaging circuit for optimizing said PR equalizer, said averaging processing being performed by the averaging circuit of said learning circuit.
- 17. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak values of said positional signal, and said processing circuit includes a PR equalizer and a learning circuit having an averaging circuit for optimizing said PR equalizer, said averaging processing being performed by the averaging circuit of said learning circuit.
- 18. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak-to-peak values of said positional signal, and said processing circuit includes a PR equalizer and a learning circuit having an averaging circuit for optimizing said PR equalizer, said averaging processing being performed by the averaging circuit of said learning circuit.
- 19. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value, and said processing circuit includes a PR equalizer and a learning circuit having an averaging circuit for optimizing said PR equalizer, said averaging processing being performed by the averaging circuit of said learning circuit.
- 20. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said processing circuit includes A/D converting means for digitalizing said analog positional signal which is read by said head and obtains said positional information based upon the positional signal which has been digitalized, and said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 21. A storage device as defined in claim 20 in which said port is a serial port.
- 22. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak values of said positional signal, and said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 23. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak-to-peak values of said positional signal, and said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 24. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value, and said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 25. A storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak values of said positional signal, said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value; and said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 26. As storage device having at least a capability of reading a signal from a recording medium having positioning information and desired data recorded thereon by means of a head, comprising:a processing circuit for obtaining positional information representative of the position of said head based upon a positional signal which is obtained by reading said positioning information by said head; and drive means for moving and positioning said head based upon said positional information which is obtained by said processing circuit, wherein said processing circuit obtains said positional information by performing a predetermined averaging processing of said positional signal which is read by said head, said averaging processing obtains an average value of peak-to-peak values of said positional signal, said processing circuit performs said averaging processing of only peak values which are larger than a predetermined value, and said processing circuit includes a register for storing the operating conditions of said processing circuit and a port used for presetting said register and outputs said positional information externally of said processing circuit via said port.
- 27. A method for controlling a position of a magnetic head in a storage device including a magnetic disk and the magnetic head, in which writing data into the magnetic disk and reading data out of the magnetic disk is carried out by controlling a position of the magnetic head in accordance with positional information obtained from a signal stored in the magnetic disk which becomes a source of said positional information, comprising the steps of:obtaining a reproduced signal which becomes a source of said positional information from said magnetic disk by utilizing said magnetic head; averaging said reproduced signal; controlling the position of said magnetic head in accordance with the result of obtaining said positional information after said averaging processing.
- 28. A method for controlling a position of magnetic head according to claim 27, wherein said positional signal is an analog signal and said step for averaging includes a step for converting said positional signal into a corresponding digital signal.
- 29. A method for controlling a position of a magnetic head according to claim 28, wherein said step for averaging further includes a step for obtaining peak values of said positional signal in accordance with said digital signal.
- 30. A method for controlling a position of a magnetic head according to claim 28, wherein said step for averaging further includes a step for obtaining peak values of said positional signal in accordance with said digital signal and an average value of said peak values.
- 31. A method for controlling a position of a magnetic head according to claim 28, wherein said step for averaging further includes a step for obtaining peak values of said positional signal in accordance with said digital signal and an average value of said peak values larger than a predetermined value among said peak values.
- 32. A method for controlling a position of a magnetic head in a storage device including a magnetic disk and the magnetic head, in which writing data into the magnetic disk and reading data out of the magnetic disk is carried out by controlling a position of the magnetic head in accordance with a positional signal stored in the magnetic disk, comprising the steps of:obtaining said positional signal from said magnetic disk by utilizing said magnetic head; averaging said positional signal; and controlling the position of said magnetic head in accordance with the result of said said averaging processing; wherein said positional signal is an analog signal and said step for averaging includes a step for converting said positional signal into a corresponding digital signal, and wherein said step for averaging further includes a step for obtaining peak values of said positional signal in accordance with said digital signal and a root-mean-square value of said peak values.
- 33. A method for controlling a position of a magnetic head in a storage device including a magnetic disk and the magnetic head, in which writing data into the magnetic disk and reading data out of the magnetic disk is carried out by controlling a position of the magnetic head in accordance with a positional signal stored in the magnetic disk, comprising the steps of:obtaining said position signal from said magnetic disk by utilizing said magnetic head; averaging said positional signal; and controlling the position of said magnetic head in accordance with the result of said said averaging processing; wherein said positional signal is an analog signal and said step for averaging includes a step for converting said positional signal into a corresponding digital signal, and wherein said step for averaging further includes a step for obtaining peak values of said positional signal in accordance with said digital signal and an average value of absolute values of said peak values.
