Claims
- 1. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current to start up some of said spindle motors initially; and then supplying current to start up at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially.
- 2. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system as claimed in claim 1,wherein said supplying steps are performed such that a spindle motor in start-up is supplied with a start-up current, and a spindle motor at steady-state is supplied with a steady-state current that is lower than said start-up current.
- 3. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current to start up some of said spindle motors initially; and then supplying current to start up at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, a predetermined time after start-up of those started up initially.
- 4. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system as claimed in claim 3,wherein said supplying steps are performed such that a spindle motor in start-up is supplied with a start-up current, and a spindle motor at steady-state is supplied with a steady-state current that is lower than said start-up current.
- 5. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current to start up some of said spindle motors initially; and then supplying current to start up at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, at regular equal time periods after start-up of those started up initially.
- 6. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system as claimed in claim 5,wherein said supplying steps are performed such that a spindle motor in start-up is supplied with a start-up current, and a spindle motor at steady-state is supplied with a steady-state current that is lower than said start-up current.
- 7. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:transmitting start-up signals to some of said spindle motors initially; and then transmitting start-up signals to at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially.
- 8. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:transmitting start-up signals to some of said spindle motors initially; and then transmitting start-up signals to at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, a predetermined time after start-up of those started up initially.
- 9. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:transmitting start-up signals to some of said spindle motors initially; and then transmitting start-up signals to at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, at regular time periods after start-up of those started up initially.
- 10. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; and a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor start-up sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors under said supply of current according to a preset start-up sequence, such that current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing before any other spindle motor receives current, and then current is supplied to start up another of said spindle motors different from said at least two of said spindle motors at a second timing after a first preset delay from the first timing.
- 11. An array disk system according to claim 10,wherein said preset start-up sequence requires current to be supplied to start up yet another of said spindle motors different from said at least two of said spindle motors and different from said another of said spindle motors, at a third timing after a second preset delay from the second timing.
- 12. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; and a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor start-up sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors under said supply of current according to a preset start-up sequence, such that current is supplied to start up a first spindle motor during a time period that overlaps in time with supply of current to start up a second spindle motor, and then current is supplied to start up a third spindle motor at a first timing that follows the end of supply of said currents to start up said first and second spindle motors.
- 13. An array disk system according to claim 12,wherein said preset start-up sequence requires current to be supplied to start up a fourth spindle motor at a second timing after the first timing.
- 14. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors under said supply of current according to a preset start-up sequence, such that current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing, and then to start up another of said spindle motors.
- 15. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors under said supply of current according to a preset start-up sequence, such that current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing, and then to start up another of said spindle motors after a predetermined delay time.
- 16. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors under said supply of current according to a preset start-up sequence, such that current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing, and then to start up at least one more of said spindle motors at regular equal time periods thereafter.
- 17. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors according to a preset start-up sequence, such that at least two of said spindle motors are started up at a first timing, and then another of said spindle motors is started up.
- 18. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors according to a preset start-up sequence, such that at least two of said spindle motors are started up at a first timing, and then another of said spindle motors is started up after a predetermined delay time.
- 19. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply electrically connected to said spindle motors; a spindle motor start-up sequence controller; wherein said power supply supplies current to said spindle motors; and wherein said spindle motor sequence controller controls start-up timing of said spindle motors according to a preset start-up sequence, such that at least two of said spindle motors are started up at a first timing, and then at least one more of said spindle motors is started up at regular equal time periods thereafter.
- 20. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply arranged to supply current to said spindle motors; wherein said disk drive spindle motors respond to current supplied thereto by said power supply in a preset start-up sequence, according to which current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing, and then to start up another of said spindle motors at a second timing.
- 21. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply arranged to supply current to said spindle motors; wherein at least two of said spindle motors receive current at a first timing from said power supply to be started thereby, and then another of said spindle motors receives current at a second timing from said power supply to be started thereby.
- 22. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply arranged to supply current to said spindle motors; wherein said disk drive spindle motors respond to current supplied thereto by said power supply in a preset start-up sequence, according to which current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing, and then to start up another of said spindle motors at a second timing after a predetermined delay time.
- 23. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply arranged to supply current to said spindle motors; wherein at least two of said spindle motors receive current at a first timing from said power supply to be started thereby, and then another of said spindle motors receives current at a second timing from said power supply to be started thereby after a predetermined delay time.
- 24. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; a power supply arranged to supply current to said spindle motors; wherein said disk drive spindle motors respond to current supplied thereto by said power supply in a preset start-up sequence, according to which current is supplied to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing, and then to start up at least one more of said spindle motors at regular equal timings thereafter.
- 25. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply arranged to supply current to said spindle motors; wherein at least two of said spindle motors receive current at a first timing from said power supply to be started thereby, and then at least one more of said spindle motors receives current at regular equal timings thereafter from said power supply to be started thereby.
- 26. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current according to a preset start-up sequence to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing before any other spindle motor receives current, and then supplying current according to the preset start-up sequence to start up another of said spindle motors different from said at least two of said spindle motors, at a second timing of the preset start-up sequence after a first preset delay from the first timing.
- 27. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system according to claim 26, further comprising the following step:after said step of supplying current to start up another of said spindle motors at said second timing, supplying current according to the preset start-up sequence to start up yet another of said spindle motors at a third timing of the preset start-up sequence after a second preset delay from the second timing.
- 28. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current according to a preset start-up sequence to start up a first spindle motor during a time period that overlaps in time with supply of current to start up a second spindle motor; and then supplying current according to the preset start-up sequence to start up a third spindle motor at a first timing that follows the end of supply of said currents to start up said first and second spindle motors.
- 29. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system according to claim 28,wherein said preset start-up sequence requires current to be supplied to start up a fourth spindle motor at a second timing after the first timing.
- 30. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current according to a preset start-up sequence to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing; and then supplying current according to the preset start-up sequence to start up another of said spindle motors.
- 31. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current according to a preset start-up sequence to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing; and then supplying current according to the preset start-up sequence to start up another of said spindle motors after a predetermined delay time.
- 32. A method of starting up spindle motors in an array disk system, comprising the following steps:supplying current according to a preset start-up sequence to start up at least two of said spindle motors at a first timing; and then supplying current according to the preset start-up sequence to start up at least one more of said spindle motors at regular equal time periods thereafter.
- 33. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply and control combination electrically connected to said spindle motors; wherein said power supply and control combination supplies current and controls start-up timing of said spindle motors; and wherein said power supply and control combination starts up some of said spindle motors initially, and then starts up at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially.
- 34. An array disk system as claimed in claim 33,wherein said power supply and control combination supplies a spindle motor in start-up with a start-up current, and supplies a spindle motor at, steady-state with a steady-state current that is lower than said start-up current.
- 35. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply and control combination electrically connected to said spindle motors; wherein said power supply and control combination supplies current and controls start-up timing of said spindle motors; and wherein said power supply and control combination starts up some of said spindle motors initially, and then starts up at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, a predetermined time after start-up of those started up initially.
- 36. An array disk system as claimed in claim 35,wherein said power supply and control combination supplies a spindle motor in start-up with a start-up current, and supplies a spindle motor at steady-state with a steady-state current that is lower than said start-up current.
- 37. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply and control combination electrically connected to said spindle motors; wherein said power supply and control combination supplies current and controls start-up timing of said spindle motors; and wherein said power supply and control combination starts up some of said spindle motors initially, and then starts up at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, at regular equal time periods after start-up of those started up initially.
- 38. An array disk system as claimed in claim 37,wherein said power supply and control combination supplies a spindle motor in start-up with a start-up current, and supplies a spindle motor at steady-state with a steady-state current that is lower than said start-up current.
- 39. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply and control combination electrically connected to said spindle motors; wherein said power supply and control combination supplies current and controls start-up timing of said spindle motors; and wherein said power supply and control combination transmits start-up signals to some of said spindle motors initially, and then transmits start-up signals to at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially.
- 40. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply and control combination electrically connected to said spindle motors; wherein said power supply and control combination supplies current and controls start-up timing of said spindle motors; and wherein said power supply and control combination transmits start-up signals to some of said spindle motors initially, and then transmits start-up signals to at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, a predetermined time after start-up of those started up initially.
- 41. An array disk system, comprising:a plurality of disk drive spindle motors; and a power supply and control combination electrically connected to said spindle motors; wherein said power supply and control combination supplies current and controls start-up timing of said spindle motors; and wherein said power supply and control combination transmits start-up signals to some of said spindle motors initially, and then transmits start-up signals to at least one more of said spindle motors, but fewer than those started up initially, at regular time periods after start-up of those started up initially.
