Abstract
A display and a method for manufacturing a frame thereof. The display includes a plastic frame, a positioning member, and a panel. The positioning member, made of elastic material, is integrally formed on the plastic frame. The panel is combined with the positioning member to be fixed to the plastic frame.
Description
BACKGROUND

The invention relates to a display and a method for manufacturing a frame thereof, and in particular, to a method for manufacturing the frame of the display by dual injection.

Recently, the thickness of backlight modules has been greatly reduced to minimize the overall size of displays. Adhesive tape, however, is not preferable in the backlight module to enhance the ability to rework the display.

The adhesive tape is typically used, however, to assemble the backlight module to minimize the size of the conventional displays. For example, an adhesive tape 230 is disposed between a backlight module 210 and a liquid crystal panel 220 in a display 200 as shown in FIG. 1. Moreover, because the adhesive tape must shield and reflect light, its cost is too high. Furthermore, after adhesion, the display is not easy to rework.

To enhance the rework ability, a hook or a tenon is utilized. For example, a hook 320 is disposed on a housing 310 of a display 300 as shown in FIG. 2 to position a panel 330 in the housing 310. Since the hook is added, the display is too thick which is counter to the minimization trend.

FIG. 3 depicts a liquid crystal display 400 as disclosed in Japan published patent application No. 2003-202550. A resin protrusion 420 is disposed in a metal frame 410. A liquid crystal panel 430 disposed in the metal frame 410 is held in position by the elasticity of the protrusion 420. During the manufacture of the display 400, after the metal frame 410 is manufactured, the protrusion 420 is combined with the metal frame 410. Thus, the manufacturing process cannot be simplified.

SUMMARY

Displays are provided. An exemplary embodiment of a display comprises a plastic frame, a positioning member, and a panel. The positioning member is integrally formed on the plastic frame, and is made of elastic material. The panel is combined with the positioning member to be fixed to the plastic frame.

Note that the positioning member may be made of dark colored material, such as black material.

Moreover, the positioning member is integrally formed on the plastic frame by dual injection. The elastic material comprises rubber. The plastic frame is made of polycarbonate. The panel comprises a liquid crystal panel.

Methods for manufacturing a frame of a display are also provided. An exemplary embodiment of a method comprises the following steps. Plastic material and elastic material are placed in a dual-injection machine. A frame is dual injected by the dual-injection machine, wherein the frame is made of plastic material, and is integrally formed with a positioning member made of elastic material.

Furthermore, before the elastic material is placed in the dual-injection machine, the elastic material is dyed dark.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The invention can be more fully understood by reading the subsequent detailed description and examples with references made to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a conventional display;

FIG. 2 is a schematic view of another conventional display;

FIG. 3 is a schematic view of a conventional liquid crystal display as disclosed in Japan published patent application No. 2003-202550;

FIG. 4 is a schematic view of an embodiment of a display as disclosed in the invention; and

FIG. 5 is a flowchart of an embodiment of a method for manufacturing a frame of a display as disclosed in the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to FIG. 4, an embodiment of a display 1 comprises a plastic frame 10, a positioning member 20, a panel 30, and a backlight module 40. The plastic frame 10 serves as a housing of the display 1, and may be made of polycarbonate to obtain high reflectivity. The panel 30 may be a liquid crystal panel. The backlight module 40 is disposed in the plastic frame 10 to provide a light source. Since the structure of the backlight module 40 is the same as the conventional module, its detailed description is omitted.

The positioning member 20 is integrally formed on the plastic frame 10 by dual injection, and is made of elastic material to obtain an anti-shock function. Thus, by the elasticity of the positioning member 20, the panel 30 is combined with the positioning member 20 to be fixed to the plastic frame 10.

Furthermore, the positioning member 20 may be made of dark colored material, such as black material to obtain a light-shielding function. Additionally, the elastic material may comprise rubber.

Note that although the number of the positioning member 20 is one in the display 1 in FIG. 4, it is not limited to this. For example, another positioning member may be disposed at the opposite side of the plastic frame 10.

Referring to FIG. 5, an embodiment of a method for manufacturing a frame of a display comprises the following steps. In Step 11, plastic material and elastic material are placed in a dual-injection machine. In Step 12, the plastic frame 10 is then dual injected by the dual-injection machine, wherein the plastic frame 10 is integrally formed with the positioning member 20 made of elastic material.

Note that before the elastic material is placed in the dual-injection machine, the elastic material is dyed dark.

As described previously, since the plastic frame and the positioning member are dual injected simultaneously by the dual-injection machine, the manufacturing process may be simplified.

Furthermore, in the invention, the size of the display may be minimized without using the adhesive tape. Also, since no adhesive tape is used in the display of the invention, the rework ability of the display can be enhanced, and the cost can be reduced.

While the invention has been described by way of example and in terms of preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited thereto. To the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and similar arrangements (as would be apparent to those skilled in the art). Therefore, the scope of the appended claims should be accorded the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and similar arrangements.
