Abstract
A display case includes a top panel having a first slit, a second slit, a third slit and a fourth slit, a base panel having a first channel, a second channel, a third channel and a fourth channel, four side panels, each having a first peripheral edge with a first tab and a first cutout, a second peripheral edge with a second tab and a second cutout, a third peripheral edge including a third tab, and a fourth peripheral edge. The first tab is configured to be removably inserted into the second cutout of a first adjacent side panel. The second tab is configured to be removably inserted into the first cutout of a second adjacent side panel. The third tab is configured to be removably inserted into one of the slits. The fourth peripheral edge is configured to be removably inserted into one of the channels.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present disclosure relates generally to display cases. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to flat-packed display cases.


BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Display cases can have many various uses. For example, a display case can be used to display items such as art, collectibles, sports memorabilia, etc. A display case may also be used to protect these same items, or as a pedestal on which an item is placed for display. Display cases can be unitary in structure or be formed from multiple pieces, which are then assembled by a user.


SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The summary is a high-level overview of various aspects of the invention and introduces some of the concepts that are further detailed in the Detailed Description section below. This summary is not intended to identify key or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used in isolation to determine the scope of the claimed subject matter. The subject matter should be understood by reference to the appropriate portions of the entire specification, any or all drawings, and each claim.


Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a display case including a top panel having a first slit, a second slit, a third slit and a fourth slit. The display case also includes a base panel having a first channel, a second channel, a third channel and a fourth channel. The display case also includes four side panels. Each side panel includes a first peripheral edge including a first tab and a first cutout, a second peripheral edge including a second tab and a second cutout, a third peripheral edge including a third tab, and a fourth peripheral edge. The first tab of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into the second cutout of a first adjacent side panel. The second tab of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into the first cutout of a second adjacent side panel. The third tab of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first slit, the second slit, the third slit and the fourth slit. The fourth peripheral edge of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel. A sealed cavity is defined by the top panel, the base panel and the four side panels.


In some embodiments, the first tab and the second cutout form a dovetail joint.


In some embodiments, the second tab and the first cutout form a dovetail joint.


In some embodiments, the fourth peripheral edge and the one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel form a dado joint.


In some embodiments, the top panel, base panel and four side panels comprise acrylic.


In some embodiments, the display case is cuboidal in shape.


In some embodiments, the base panel includes a first surface facing an interior of the display case and a second opposing surface, wherein the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel are formed in the first surface.


In some embodiments, the third peripheral edge is adjacent to the first peripheral edge and the second peripheral edge.


In some embodiments, the display case also includes a third tab and a third cutout at the first peripheral edge, and a fourth tab and a fourth cutout at the second peripheral edge. The third tab is configured to be inserted into the fourth cutout. The fourth tab is configured to be inserted into the third cutout.


Embodiments of the present disclosure also relate to a display case including a top panel having a first slit, a second slit, a third slit and a fourth slit. The display case also includes a base panel having a first channel, a second channel, a third channel and a fourth channel. The display case also includes two first side panels. Each of the two first side panels includes a first peripheral edge including a first tab, a second peripheral edge including a second tab, a third peripheral edge including a third tab, and a fourth peripheral edge. The first tab of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first slit, the second slit the third slit and the fourth slit. The fourth peripheral edge of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel. The display case also includes two second side panels. Each of the two second side panels includes a first peripheral edge including a second tab, a second peripheral edge including a fifth slit, a third peripheral edge including a sixth slit; and a fourth peripheral edge. The second tab of each of the two second side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first slit the second slit, the third slit and the fourth slit. The fourth peripheral edge of each of the two second side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel. The second tab of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into the fifth slit of one of the two second side panels. The third tab of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into the sixth slit of one of the two second side panels. A sealed cavity is defined by the top panel, the base panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, the third side panel and the fourth side panel.


In some embodiments, the fourth peripheral edge of each of the two first side panels and the one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel forms a dado joint.


In some embodiments, the fourth peripheral edge of each of the two second side panels and the one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel forms a dado joint.


In some embodiments, the top panel, base panel and four side panels comprise acrylic.


In some embodiments, the display case is cuboidal in shape.


In some embodiments, the base panel includes a first surface facing an interior of the display case and a second opposing surface, wherein the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel are formed in the first surface.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Persons skilled in the art will readily appreciate that various aspects of the present disclosure can be realized by any number of methods and apparatus configured to perform the intended functions. It should also be noted that the accompanying figures referred to herein are not necessarily drawn to scale but may be exaggerated to illustrate various aspects of the present disclosure, and in that regard, the figures should not be construed as limiting.


The present disclosure is directed to display cases that may be used to display and protect various types of items. In some embodiments, the display case is a flat-packed display case comprising six pieces that can be packed flat for easy transport. The display case is assembled by attaching each panel to at least one other panel. In some embodiments, the items may be positioned within the display case during assembly. In some embodiments, the present disclosure relates to flat-packed display cases with high structural integrity. In other embodiments, the present disclosure relates to flat-packed display cases with interlocking panels.


With reference to FIGS. 1-8, a flat-packed display case 100 is depicted, according to various embodiments of the present disclosure. As depicted in FIG. 1, the display case 100 is cuboidal in shape. In some embodiments, the display case 100 comprises six panels: a base panel 102, a top panel 104 and four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d. In some embodiments, the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d are identical in shape. In some embodiments, each of the side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d is configured to engage with both the base panel 102 and the top panel 104.


In some embodiments, the base panel 102 includes a first surface 108 and an opposing second surface 109, as depicted in FIGS. 2 and 6. When the display case 100 is fully constructed, the first surface 108 faces an interior of the display case 100. The first surface 108, in some embodiments, includes a first channel 110a parallel to a first peripheral edge 112a thereof, a second channel 110b parallel to a second peripheral edge 112b thereof, a third channel 110c parallel to a third peripheral edge 112c thereof and a fourth channel 110d parallel to a fourth peripheral edge 112d thereof. Each of the channels 110a, 110b, 110c, 110d is configured to receive a peripheral edge of one of the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d to form a dado joint, as will be described in further detail below.


In some embodiments, the top panel 104 includes three slits 114 parallel to each peripheral edge 116, as depicted in FIG. 3. Each of the slits 114 are configured to receive a tab of one of the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d, as will be described in further detail below.


In some embodiments, each of the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d includes a first peripheral edge 118a, a second peripheral edge 118b, a third peripheral edge 118c and a fourth peripheral edge 118d, as depicted in FIG. 4. In some embodiments, the second peripheral edge 118b is opposite the first peripheral edge 118a. In some embodiments, the third peripheral edge 118c is adjacent to both the first peripheral edge 118a and the second peripheral edge 118b, and opposite the fourth peripheral edge 118d.


In some embodiments, the first peripheral edge 118a of each of the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d includes two tabs 120 and three cutouts 122. In some embodiments, the second peripheral edge 118b of each of the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d includes three tabs 124 and two cutouts 126. The third peripheral edge 118c of each of the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d includes three tabs 128, in some embodiments.


In some embodiments, the two tabs 120 of the first peripheral edges 118a are configured to be removably inserted into the two cutouts 126 of the second peripheral edge 118b of an adjacent side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d, as depicted in FIG. 5. Additionally, in some embodiments, the three tabs 124 of each of the second peripheral edges 118b are configured to be removably inserted into the three cutouts 122 of the first peripheral edge 118a of an adjacent side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d. Thus, the first peripheral edges 118a are configured to engage flush with the second peripheral edges 118b. In some embodiments, a dovetail joint 119 is formed between each tab and its associated cutout.


It is understood that the number of tabs 120 and cutouts 122 along the first peripheral edge 118a compliment the number of tabs 124 and cutouts 126 along the second peripheral edge 118b. Thus, in other embodiments, the first peripheral edges 118a and the second peripheral edges 118b may have any number of tabs and cutouts, so long as each side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d is identical with complimenting tabs and cutouts along the first peripheral edges 118a and second peripheral edges 118b.


In some embodiments, the three tabs 128 of each of the third peripheral edges 118c are configured to be inserted into the three slits 114 of a corresponding one of the peripheral edges 116 of the top panel 104, such that the top panel 104 engages flush with each side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d, as depicted in FIGS. 6 and 7. Thus, the number of slits 114 along each of the peripheral edges 116 of the top panel 104 is configured to compliment the number of tabs 128 along the third peripheral edge 118c of each side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d. In other embodiments, the peripheral edges 116 of the top panel 104 and the third peripheral edges 118c of the side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d may have any number of slits and tabs, respectively, so long as the number of slits and tabs complement each other.


In some embodiments, the fourth peripheral edge 118d of each side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d is configured to be removably inserted into an associated one of the channels 110a, 110b, 110c, 110d of the base panel 102 to form a dado joint 129, as depicted in FIG. 8. Thus, the base panel 102 engages flush with each side panel 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d.


The display case 100 is formed by assembling the top panel 104 with the side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d and the base panel 102, such that an enclosed, sealed cavity 132 is defined therein.


In some embodiments, the display case 100 comprises acrylic. In some embodiments, the top panel 104 and the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d comprise a clear acrylic. In some embodiments, the base panel 102 comprises a black acrylic. However, in other embodiments, any of the panels can be any color. In other embodiments, at least one of the base panel 102, the top panel 104, and the four side panels 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d comprises foam PVC.


The dimensions of the display case 100 may be chosen so that the display case 100 can fit various items of different sizes therein. In some embodiments, the display case 100 has overall dimensions of 4 in.×4 in.×4 in. to 48 in.×48 in.×72 in. In some embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 4 in. to 48 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 10 in. to 48 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 20 in. to 48 in. In other embodiments, the display case has a length of 30 in. to 48 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 40 in. to 48 in.


In some embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 4 in. to 40 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 4 in. to 30 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 4 in. to 20 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 4 in. to 10 in.


In some embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 8 in. to 40 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 12 in. to 30 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 35 in. to 45 in. In other embodiments, the display case 100 has a length of 20 in. to 25 in. Turning to FIGS. 9 through 16, in some embodiments, the present disclosure also relates to an interlocking flat-packed display case 200. As depicted in FIG. 9, the display case 200 is cuboidal in shape. In some embodiments, the display case 200 comprises six panels: a base panel 202, a top panel 204 and four side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d. In some embodiments, each of the side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d is configured to engage with both the base panel 202 and the top panel 204. In some embodiments, the four side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d include two pairs of identical side panels.


In some embodiments, the base panel 202 includes a first surface 208, as depicted in FIG. 10, and an opposing second surface 209, as depicted in FIG. 14. The first surface 208, in some embodiments, includes a first channel 210a parallel to first peripheral edge thereof 212a, a second channel 210b parallel to a second peripheral edge 212b thereof, a third channel 210c parallel to a third peripheral edge 212c thereof and a fourth channel 210d parallel to a fourth peripheral edge 212d thereof. Each of the channels 210a, 210b, 210c, 210d is configured to receive a peripheral edge of one of the four side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d to form a dado joint, as will be described in further detail below.


In some embodiments, the top panel 204 includes three slits 214 parallel to each peripheral edge 216 thereof, as depicted in FIG. 11. Each of the slits 214 is configured to receive a tab of one of the side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d, as will be described in further detail below.


In some embodiments, a first pair of the side panels 206a, 206b includes a first peripheral edge 217a, a second peripheral edge 217b, a third peripheral edge 217c and a fourth peripheral edge 217d, as depicted in FIG. 12. In some embodiments, the second peripheral edge 217b is opposite the first peripheral edge 217a. In some embodiments, the third peripheral edge 217c is adjacent to both the first peripheral edge 217a and the second peripheral edge 217b, and opposite the fourth peripheral edge 217d.


In some embodiments, a second pair of the side panels 206c, 206d includes a first peripheral edge 218a, a second peripheral edge 218b, a third peripheral edge 218c and a fourth peripheral edge 218d, as depicted in FIG. 13. In some embodiments, the second peripheral edge 218b is opposite the first peripheral edge 218a. In some embodiments, the third peripheral edge 218c is adjacent to both the first peripheral edge 218a and the second peripheral edge 218b, and opposite the fourth peripheral edge 218d.


In some embodiments, the first peripheral edge 217a of a first pair of the side panels 206a, 206b include three tabs 220, as depicted in FIG. 12. In some embodiments, the second peripheral edge 217b of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b includes three tabs 222. In some embodiments, the third peripheral edge 217c of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b also includes three tabs 224.


In some embodiments, the first peripheral edge 218a of a second pair of the side panels 206c, 206d includes three slits 226, as depicted in FIG. 13. In some embodiments, the second peripheral edge 218b of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d includes three slits 228. In some embodiments, the third peripheral edge 218c of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d includes three tabs 224.


In some embodiments, the three tabs 220 of the first peripheral edges 217a of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b are configured to be removably inserted into the three slits 228 of the second peripheral edge 218b of an adjacent one of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d, as depicted in FIG. 14. Additionally, in some embodiments, the three tabs 222 of each of the second peripheral edges 217b of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b are configured to be removably inserted into the three slits 226 of the first peripheral edge 218a of an adjacent one of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d. Thus, the first peripheral edges 217a of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b are configured to engage flush with the second peripheral edges 218b of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d. Additionally, the second peripheral edges 217b of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b are configured to engage flush with the first peripheral edges 218a of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d.


It is understood that the number of tabs along the first peripheral edges 217a of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b compliment the number of slits along the second peripheral edges 218b of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d, and the number of tabs along the second peripheral edges 217b of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b compliment the number of slits along the first peripheral edges 218a of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d. Thus, in other embodiments, the first peripheral edges 217a of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b may have any number of tabs, and the second peripheral edges 218b of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d may have any number slits, so long as there is complimenting number of tabs and slits along adjacent first peripheral edges 217a and second peripheral edges 218b. Additionally, in other embodiments, the second peripheral edges 217b of the first pair of side panels 206a, 206b may have any number of tabs, and the first peripheral edges 218a of the second pair of side panels 206c, 206d may have any number slits, so long as there is complimenting number of tabs and slits along adjacent second peripheral edges 217b and first peripheral edges 218a.


In some embodiments, the three tabs 224 of the third peripheral edges 217c, 218c of each of the side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d are configured to be inserted into the three slits 214 of an associated peripheral edge 216 of the top panel 204 such that the top panel 204 engages flush with each side panel 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d, as depicted in FIG. 15. Thus, the number of slits 214 along each peripheral edge 216 of the top panel 204 is configured to compliment the number of tabs 224 along the third peripheral edges 217c, 218c of each side panel 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d. In other embodiments, the peripheral edges 216 of the top panel 204 and the third peripheral edges 217c, 218c of the side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d may have any number of slits and tabs, respectively, so long as the number of slits and tabs complement each other.


In some embodiments, each of the fourth peripheral edges 217d, 218d of each side panel 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d is configured to be removably inserted into an associated channel 210a, 210b, 210c, 210d of the base panel 202 to form a dado joint 230, as depicted in FIG. 16. Thus, the base panel 202 engages flush with each of the side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d.


The display case 200 is formed by assembling the top panel 204 with the side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d and the base panel 202, such that an enclosed, sealed cavity 232 is defined therein.


In some embodiments, the display case 200 comprises acrylic. In some embodiments, the top panel 204 and the four side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d comprise a clear acrylic. In some embodiments, the base panel 202 comprises a black acrylic. However, in other embodiments, any of the panels can be any color. In other embodiments, at least one of the base panel 202, the top panel 204, and the four side panels 206a, 206b, 206c, 206d comprises foam PVC.


The dimensions of the display case 200 may be chosen so that the display case 200 can fit various items of different sizes therein. In some embodiments, the display case 200 has similar dimensions provided above with respect to display case 100.


The disclosure of this application has been described above both generically and with regard to specific embodiments. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made in the embodiments without departing from the scope of the disclosure. Thus, it is intended that the embodiments cover the modifications and variations of this invention provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.

A display case comprising: a top panel comprising a first slit, a second slit, a third slit and a fourth slit;a base panel comprising a first channel, a second channel, a third channel and a fourth channel;four side panels; wherein each side panel comprises: a first peripheral edge comprising a first tab and a first cutout;a second peripheral edge comprising a second tab and a second cutout;a third peripheral edge including a third tab; anda fourth peripheral edge, wherein the first tab of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into the second cutout of a first adjacent side panel;wherein the second tab of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into the first cutout of a second adjacent side panel;wherein the third tab of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first slit, the second slit, the third slit and the fourth slit; andwherein the fourth peripheral edge of each side panel is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel,wherein a sealed cavity is defined by the top panel, the base panel and the four side panels.
  • 2. The display case of claim 1, wherein the first tab and the second cutout form a dovetail joint.
  • 3. The display case of claim 1, wherein the second tab and the first cutout form a dovetail joint.
  • 4. The display case of claim 1, wherein the fourth peripheral edge and the one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel form a dado joint.
  • 5. The display case of claim 1, wherein the top panel and four side panels comprise acrylic.
  • 6. The display case of claim 1, wherein the display case is cuboidal in shape.
  • 7. The display case of claim 1, wherein the base panel includes a first surface facing an interior of the display case and a second opposing surface, wherein the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel are formed in the first surface.
  • 8. The display case of claim 1, wherein the third peripheral edge is adjacent to the first peripheral edge and the second peripheral edge.
  • 9. The display case of claim 1, further comprising: a third tab and a third cutout at the first peripheral edge; anda fourth tab and a fourth cutout at the second peripheral edge, wherein the third tab is configured to be inserted into the fourth cutout, andwherein the fourth tab is configured to be inserted into the third cutout.
  • 10. A display case comprising: a top panel comprising a first slit, a second slit, a third slit and a fourth slit;a base panel comprising a first channel, a second channel, a third channel and a fourth channel;two first side panels; wherein each of the two first side panels comprises: a first peripheral edge comprising a first tab;a second peripheral edge comprising a second tab;a third peripheral edge comprising a third tab; anda fourth peripheral edge, wherein the first tab of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first slit, the second slit the third slit and the fourth slit;wherein the fourth peripheral edge of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel;two second side panels; wherein each of the two second side panels comprises: a first peripheral edge comprising a second tab;a second peripheral edge comprising a fifth slit;a third peripheral edge comprising a sixth slit; anda fourth peripheral edge; wherein the second tab of each of the two second side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first slit the second slit, the third slit and the fourth slit,wherein the fourth peripheral edge of each of the two second side panels is configured to be removably inserted into one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel,wherein the second tab of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into the fifth slit of one of the two second side panels,wherein the third tab of each of the two first side panels is configured to be removably inserted into the sixth slit of one of the two second side panels;wherein a sealed cavity is defined by the top panel, the base panel, the two first side panels and the two second side panels.
  • 11. The display case of claim 10, wherein the fourth peripheral edge of each of the two first side panels and the one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel forms a dado joint.
  • 12. The display case of claim 10, wherein the fourth peripheral edge of each of the two second side panels and the one of the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel forms a dado joint.
  • 13. The display case of claim 10, wherein the top panel and four side panels comprise acrylic.
  • 14. The display case of claim 10, wherein the display case is cuboidal in shape.
  • 15. The display case of claim 10, wherein the base panel comprises a first surface facing an interior of the display case and a second opposing surface, wherein the first channel, the second channel, the third channel and the fourth channel are formed in the first surface.
