Abstract
According to one embodiment, a display device includes a substrate, an insulating layer above the substrate, a lower electrode, a rib, a partition, an upper electrode, an organic layer between the electrodes, a dam structure including a protrusion in a surrounding area, and a conductive layer in the surrounding area covering at least a part of the dam structure and connected to the partition. The partition and the conductive layer include a conductive lower portion and an upper portion protruding from the lower portion. The end portion of the conductive layer is between the protrusion and the end portion of the substrate.
Description
Claims
  • 1. A display device comprising: a substrate;an insulating layer disposed above the substrate;a lower electrode disposed above the insulating layer in a display area containing pixels;a rib including an aperture overlapping the lower electrode;a partition disposed above the rib in the display area;an upper electrode opposing the lower electrode and connected to the partition;an organic layer disposed between the lower electrode and the upper electrode and emitting light in response to a potential difference between the lower electrode and the upper electrode;a dam structure including at least one protrusion disposed in a surrounding area between an end portion of the substrate and the display area; anda conductive layer disposed in the surrounding area, covering at least a part of the dam structure and connected to the partition, wherein the partition and the conductive layer includes a conductive lower portion and an upper portion protruding from a side surface of the lower portion, andan end portion of the conductive layer is located between the protrusion and the end portion of the substrate in plan view.
  • 2. The display device of claim 1, wherein the organic layer is disposed in the surrounding area as well, andthe organic layer is divided by the end portion of the conductive layer.
  • 3. The display device of claim 1, wherein the conductive layer and the protrusion surround the display area, andthe end portion of the conductive layer is located between the protrusion and the end portion of the substrate over an entire circumference.
  • 4. The display device of claim 1, wherein the protrusion is formed of a same material as that of the insulating layer.
  • 5. The display device of claim 1, wherein the dam structure includes a first protrusion surrounding the display area and a second protrusion surrounding the first protrusion, andthe end portion of the conductive layer is located between the first protrusion and the second protrusion in plan view.
  • 6. The display device of claim 1, further comprising: a pixel circuit disposed in the display area, which supplies voltage to the lower electrode; anda drive circuit disposed in the surrounding area, which supplies a signal to the pixel circuit, wherein the end portion of the conductive layer is located between the drive circuit and the end portion of the substrate in plan view.
  • 7. The display device of claim 1, further comprising: a feed line disposed in the surrounding area; anda relay wiring line connected to the feed line in a first contact portion located in the surrounding area and connected to the conductive layer in a second contact portion located in the surrounding area.
  • 8. The display device of claim 7, wherein, a lower surface of the relay wiring line is in contact with the feed line and an upper surface of the relay wiring line is in contact with the conductive layer in the first contact portion.
  • 9. The display device of claim 7, wherein the relay wiring line is covered by the rib,the second contact portion includes a plurality of contact holes provided in the rib, andthe conductive layer is in contact with the relay wiring line via the plurality of contact holes.
  • 10. The display device of claim 9, wherein the plurality of contact holes extend longitudinally along a first direction and are aligned along a second direction that intersects the first direction.
  • 11. The display device of claim 9, wherein the conductive layer includes a plurality of apertures that are smaller than each of the plurality of contact holes.
  • 12. The display device of claim 7, wherein the end portion of the conductive layer is located between the first contact portion and the end portion of the substrate in plan view.
  • 13. The display device of claim 7, wherein the second contact portion is located between the first contact portion and the display area in plan view.
