Abstract
According to one embodiment, a display device includes an organic insulating layer, a barrier layer formed of an inorganic insulating material and provided on the organic insulating layer, a rib formed of an inorganic insulating material and provided on the barrier layer, a partition including a lower portion located immediately above the barrier layer and provided on the rib, and an upper portion provided on the lower portion and protruding from a side surface of the lower portion, a lower electrode including an end portion between the organic insulating layer and the rib, an organic layer including a first portion provided on the lower electrode, and an upper electrode including a first portion provided on the first portion of the organic layer.

Claims
  • 1. A display device comprising: a substrate;an organic insulating layer provided above the substrate;a barrier layer formed of an inorganic insulating material and provided on the organic insulating layer;a rib formed of an inorganic insulating material and provided on the barrier layer;a partition comprising a lower portion located immediately above the barrier layer and provided on the rib, and an upper portion provided on the lower portion and protruding from a side surface of the lower portion;a lower electrode comprising an end portion between the organic insulating layer and the rib;an organic layer comprising a first portion provided on the lower electrode in an aperture of the rib and spaced apart from the lower portion of the partition, and a second portion provided on the upper portion, the first and second portions including light emitting layers formed of a same material;an upper electrode comprising a first portion which is provided on the first portion of the organic layer and is in contact with the lower portion of the partition, and a second portion provided on the second portion of the organic layer;a cap layer comprising a first portion provided on the first portion of the upper electrode, and a second portion provided on the second portion of the upper electrode; anda sealing layer which covers the first and second portions of the cap layer.
  • 2. The display device of claim 1, wherein between the side surface of the partition and the end portion of the lower electrode, the barrier layer is provided between the organic insulating layer and the rib.
  • 3. The display device of claim 2, wherein the end portion of the lower electrode is provided between the barrier layer and the rib.
  • 4. The display device of claim 3, wherein at a position overlapping the aperture of the rib, the lower electrode is provided on the barrier layer.
  • 5. The display device of claim 3, wherein at a position overlapping the aperture of the rib, the lower electrode is provided on the organic insulating layer without intervention of the barrier layer.
  • 6. The display device of claim 2, wherein the end portion of the lower electrode is provided between the organic insulating layer and the barrier layer.
  • 7. The display device of claim 2, wherein the end portion of the lower electrode is spaced apart from the barrier layer.
  • 8. The display device of claim 1, wherein the barrier layer and the rib are formed of inorganic insulating materials different from each other.
  • 9. The display device of claim 1, wherein the barrier layer is formed of silicon oxide or silicon oxynitride, andthe rib is formed of silicon nitride.
  • 10. The display device of claim 1, wherein the rib and the sealing layer are formed of a same inorganic insulating material.
  • 11. The display device of claim 1, wherein the rib and the sealing layer are formed of silicon nitride.
  • 12. The display device of claim 1, wherein the barrier layer and the sealing layer are formed of inorganic insulating materials different from each other.
  • 13. The display device of claim 1, wherein the barrier layer is formed of silicon oxide or silicon oxynitride, andthe sealing layer is formed of silicon nitride.
  • 14. The display device of claim 1, wherein the lower portion of the partition is formed of a conductive material, and is electrically connected to the first portion of the upper electrode.
