Claims
- 1. A display device comprising:
- display means for displaying information and having a plurality of scan electrodes arranged parallel to each other, and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged parallel to each other and orthogonal to said plurality of scan electrodes;
- scan electrode drive means for driving said scan electrodes, with said scan electrodes being divided into a plurality of blocks, each of which comprises a plurality of scan electrodes, and with every block capable of being driven;
- memory means for storing the information to be displayed;
- supplying means for supplying an address data for choosing a single block among said plurality of blocks and information of the chosen block read out from said memory means;
- selection means for selecting said single block based on said address data;
- signal electrode drive means for driving said signal electrodes based on the information supplied by said supplying means; and
- control means for controlling said scan electrode drive means so as to successively drive the scan electrodes included in said selected block.
- 2. A display device according to claim 1, wherein said display means is a ferroelectric liquid crystal display panel.
- 3. A display device according to claim 1, wherein said scan electrode drive means is time regulated when selectively driving a plurality of scan electrodes to be connected to said scan electrode drive means.
- 4. A display device comprising:
- display means for displaying information and having a plurality of scan electrodes arranged parallel to each other, and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged parallel to each other and orthogonal to said scan electrodes;
- scan electrode drive means for driving said scan electrodes, with said scan electrodes being divided into a plurality of blocks, each of which comprises a plurality of scan electrodes, and with every block capable of being driven;
- memory means for storing the information to be displayed;
- supplying means for supplying an address data for choosing a single block among said plurality of blocks and information of the chosen block read out from said memory means, and for serially supplying selection data to select said single block based on said address data;
- signal electrode drive means for driving said signal electrodes based on the information supplied by said supplying means; and
- control means for controlling said scan electrode drive means so as to successively drive the scan electrodes included in said selected block.
- 5. A display device according to claim 4, wherein said display means is a ferroelectric liquid crystal display panel.
- 6. A display device according to claim 4, wherein said scan electrode drive means is time regulated when selectively driving a plurality of scan electrodes to be connected to said scan electrode drive means.
- 7. A display device according to claim 1, further comprising supply means for serially supplying selection data to select one of the predetermined number of blocks and for supplying image data to be displayed in the selected block, wherein
- said selection means selects the blocks unit in accordance with the selection data supplied by said supply means.
- 8. A display device according to claim 4, further comprising distribution means for distributing the selection data and image data supplied by said supply means to said scan electrode drive means and signal electrode drive means, respectively.
- 9. A display control device comprising:
- display means for displaying information, said display means comprising a plurality of blocks, with said blocks containing a plurality of contiguous scan electrodes;
- memory means for storing the information to be displayed on said display means;
- selection means for selecting a single block among said plurality of blocks based on an address data which is for displaying information stored in said memory means onto said display means; and
- drive means for sequentially driving said respective scan electrodes constituting said block selected.
- 10. A display control device according to claim 9, further comprising writing means for writing the information into said storage means.
- 11. A display control device according to claim 9, wherein said display means is a ferroelectric liquid crystal display panel.
- 12. A display control device according to claim 10, wherein said display means is a ferroelectric liquid crystal display panel.
- 13. A display control method of an information processing apparatus comprising display means comprised of a plurality of blocks, with each block having a plurality of contiguous scan electrodes, and a memory for storing information to be displayed, said method comprising the steps of:
- selecting a first block from the plurality of blocks based on an address data which is for displaying information stored in the memory onto the display means;
- sequentially driving said respective scan electrodes constituting the first block;
- selecting a second block from the blocks excluding the first block after respective scan electrodes of the first block are all driven; and
- sequentially driving the plurality of scan electrodes of the second block.
- 14. A display device according to claim 1, wherein if scan electrodes corresponding to the memory position are included in both of a first block and a second block, information of the second block is provided after information of the first block is provided.
- 15. A display device according to claim 4, wherein if scan electrodes corresponding to the memory position are included in both of a first block and a second block, information of the second block is provided after information of the first block is provided.
- 16. A display device according to claim 9, wherein if scan electrodes corresponding to the memory position are included in both of a first block and a second block, information of the second block is provided after information of the first block is provided.
- 17. A display control method according to claim 13, wherein if scan electrodes corresponding to the memory position are included in both of a first block and a second block, information of the second block is provided after information of the first block is provided.
- 18. A display control method of an information processing apparatus having a display comprised of a plurality of scan electrodes arranged parallel to each other and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged parallel to each other and orthogonal to the plurality of scan electrodes, a scan electrode driver for driving the scan electrodes, with the scan electrodes being divided into a plurality of blocks, each of which comprises a plurality of scan electrodes, and with every block capable of being driven, and a memory, said method comprising the steps of:
- storing the information to be displayed in the memory;
- supplying an address data for choosing a single block among the plurality of blocks and information of the chosen block read out from the memory;
- selecting the single block based on the address data;
- driving the signal electrodes based on the supplied information; and
- controlling the scan electrode driver so as to successively drive the scan electrodes in the selected block.
- 19. A display control method according to claim 18, wherein the display is a ferroelectric liquid crystal display panel.
- 20. A display control method according to claim 18, further comprising the step of time regulating the scan electrode driver when selectively driving a plurality of scan electrodes to be connected to the scan electrode driver.
- 21. A display control method according to claim 18, further comprising the step of serially supplying selection data to select one of the predetermined number of blocks and supplying image data to be displayed in the selected block, wherein the block is selected in accordance with the supplied selection data.
- 22. A display device according to claim 1, wherein said supplying means supplies the address data of a block that includes a rewritten portion of said memory means.
- 23. A display device according to claim 4, wherein said supplying means supplies the address data of a block that includes a rewritten portion of said memory means.
- 24. A display device according to claim 9, wherein the address data of a block that includes a rewritten portion of said memory means is supplied.
- 25. A display control method according to claim 13, further comprising the step of supplying the address data of a block that includes a rewritten portion of the memory.
- 26. A display control method according to claim 18, further comprising the step of supplying the address data of a block that includes a rewritten portion of the memory.
