Claims
- 1. A wireless pager comprising:
a housing having a plurality of control elements; a wireless receiver within the housing that receives data from a source; a display circuit that is electrically connected to the receiver and generates display data; and a matrix display mounted to the housing that displays the display data from the display circuit, the matrix display having an array of at least 320 by 240 pixel electrodes.
- 2. The wireless pager of claim 1 wherein the housing comprises a first display port for the matrix display and a second display port for a second display.
- 3. The wireless pager of claim 2 wherein the matrix display comprises a color liquid crystal display.
- 4. The wireless pager of claim 1 wherein the matrix display further comprises an array of transistor circuits formed with single crystal silicon, the array of transistor circuits being bonded to an optically transmissive substrate with an adhesive layer.
- 5. The wireless pager of claim 1 wherein the display circuit further comprises a color sequential display circuit.
- 6. The wireless pager of claim 1 wherein the matrix display is a color sequential display system including an active matrix liquid crystal display and light emitting diode (LED) backlight.
- 7. A wireless pager comprising:
a housing having a plurality of control elements; a wireless receiver within the housing that receives data from a source; a display circuit connected to the receiver; a color sequential matrix display mounted to the housing and that displays information from the display circuit.
- 8. The wireless pager of claim 7 wherein the housing comprises a first display port for the matrix display and a second display port.
- 9. The wireless pager of claim 8 wherein the matrix display comprises an active matrix liquid crystal display.
- 10. The wireless pager of claim 7 wherein the matrix display further comprises an array of transistor circuits formed with single crystal silicon, the array of transistor circuits being bonded to an optically transmissive substrate with an adhesive layer.
- 11. The wireless pager of claim 7 further comprising a battery to provide power to the color sequential display circuit.
- 12. The wireless pager of claim 7 wherein the matrix display is illuminated by an LED backlight.
- 13. The wireless pager of claim 7 further comprising a control circuit and a memory circuit.
- 14. A wireless pager comprising:
a housing having a plurality of control elements; a wireless receiver within the housing that receives data from a source; a display circuit connected to the wireless receiver; a matrix display mounted to the housing and that displays an image from the circuit, the matrix display having at least 75,000 pixel electrodes defining an active area of less than 160 mm2.
- 15. The wireless pager of claim 14 wherein the housing comprises a first display port for the matrix display and a second display port.
- 16. The wireless pager of claim 15 further comprising a battery.
- 17. The wireless pager of claim 14 wherein the matrix display further comprises an array of transistor circuits formed with single crystal silicon, the array of transistor circuits being bonded to an optically transmissive substrate with an adhesive layer.
- 18. The wireless pager of claim 14 further comprising a color sequential display circuit.
- 19. The wireless pager of claim 14 wherein the matrix display is a color sequential display system including an active matrix liquid crystal display and an LED backlight.
- 20. The wireless pager of claim 14 further comprising an optical system along an optical path with the display to magnify the image.
