Claims
- 1. A display unit for chip cards, comprising:
a display element having a front side, a rear side opposing said front side, and a liquid crystal layer on said front side of said display element; and a control element being electrically connected to said display element and disposed as an integrated circuit on said rear side of said display element.
- 2. The display unit according to claim 1, wherein said display element is fastened directly to said control element.
- 3. The display unit according to claim 1, including a common bottom plate connecting said display element to said control element.
- 4. The display unit according to claim 1, including a bottom sheet connecting said display element to said control element.
- 5. The display unit according to claim 1, including a top sheet connecting said display element to said control element.
- 6. The display unit according to claim 4, including:
an upper side of said bottom sheet, said display element and said control element being fastened to said upper side of said bottom sheet; and a fold of said bottom sheet being located between said display element and said control element and defining two opposing faces of said upper side, one of said opposing faces facing toward said liquid crystal layer, the other of said opposing faces facing away from said liquid crystal layer; said control element being disposed laterally from said display element and on said face facing away from said liquid crystal layer.
- 7. The display unit according to claim 3, including:
an edge on said bottom plate; and electrical lines leading around said edge of said bottom plate.
- 8. The display unit according to claim 4, including:
an edge on said bottom sheet; and electrical lines leading around said edge of said bottom sheet.
- 9. The display unit according to claim 5, wherein:
said top sheet has an upper side and rear side and extends over said liquid crystal layer to define a region not in contact with said liquid crystal layer; said display element is fastened to said upper side of said top sheet; and said control element attaches to said rear side of said top sheet directly to said region of said sheet not contacting said liquid crystal layer.
- 10. The display unit according to claim 1, wherein said control element is an integrated circuit without a package.
- 11. The display unit according to claim 1, including:
a display for information on said display element; and a signal line bus for connecting said control element to said display for information.
- 12. A method of producing an LCD display element for chip cards, which comprises:
providing a display element having a liquid crystal layer; providing a control element; providing a bottom sheet with a side having conductor tracks and a region extending beyond the liquid crystal layer; attaching the display element on the side of the bottom sheet; attaching the control element on the side of the bottom sheet in the region extending beyond the liquid crystal layer; folding the bottom sheet between the display element and the control element to form on the bottom sheet an edge, a face facing toward the liquid crystal layer, and a face facing away from the liquid crystal layer holding the control element; and leading the conductor tracks around the edge of the bottom sheet.
