Claims
- 1. A disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, comprising:
a chassis forming a waist opening and a pair of leg openings and having longitudinally opposing first and second waist end edges, longitudinally opposing first and second waist regions adjacent to the respective waist end edges, and a crotch region longitudinally intermediate of the waist regions; a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in the crotch region; and a first replaceable absorbent core component disposed in capillary liquid communication with the non-removable absorbent core component and having a major surface on which an openable insertion pocket is disposed.
- 2. The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 wherein the first replaceable absorbent core component has an inner end and the openable insertion pocket has an openable end facing away from the inner end.
- 3. The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 wherein the first replaceable absorbent core component has a major surface having a liquid impermeable region and a liquid permeable region having a periphery and bounded on a portion of the periphery by the liquid impermeable region.
- 4. The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 wherein the chassis comprises a wearer-facing layer and a garment-facing layer forming an openable chassis pocket adapted to receive the first replaceable absorbent core component and the first replaceable absorbent core component is removably disposed inside the openable chassis pocket.
- 5. The disposable absorbent article of claim 1 wherein the chassis comprises a wearer-facing layer and a garment-facing layer forming an openable chassis pocket adapted to receive the first replaceable absorbent core component, the first replaceable absorbent core component is removably disposed inside the openable chassis pocket, and the openable chassis pocket has an inner end located in the crotch region and formed by an area of joining of the wearer-facing layer and the non-removable absorbent core component, the garment-facing layer and the non-removable absorbent core component, the wearer-facing layer and the garment-facing layer and the non-removable absorbent core component, or the wearer-facing layer and the garment-facing layer.
- 6. A method for using a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the absorbent article comprising:
a chassis forming a waist opening and a pair of leg openings and having longitudinally opposing first and second waist end edges, longitudinally opposing first and second waist regions adjacent to the respective waist end edges, and a crotch region longitudinally intermediate of the waist regions; a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in the crotch region; and a first replaceable absorbent core component disposed in capillary liquid communication with the non-removable absorbent core component and having a major surface on which an openable insertion pocket is disposed, the method comprising the step of removing the first replaceable absorbent core component from the absorbent article, inserting the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article, inserting a like replacement of the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article, or replacing the first replaceable absorbent core component by removing the first replaceable absorbent core component from the absorbent article and inserting a like replacement of the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein the method comprises the step of using the insertion pocket to insert the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article.
- 8. An article of commerce comprising a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the absorbent article comprising:
a chassis forming a waist opening and a pair of leg openings and having longitudinally opposing first and second waist end edges, longitudinally opposing first and second waist regions adjacent to the respective waist end edges, and a crotch region longitudinally intermediate of the waist regions; a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in the crotch region; and a first replaceable absorbent core component disposed in capillary liquid communication with the non-removable absorbent core component and having a major surface on which an openable insertion pocket is disposed, the article of commerce further comprising instructions for removing the first replaceable absorbent core component from the absorbent article, inserting the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article, inserting a like replacement of the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article, or replacing the first replaceable absorbent core component by removing the first replaceable absorbent core component from the absorbent article and inserting a like replacement of the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article.
- 9. The article of commerce of claim 8 wherein the instructions include instructions for using the insertion pocket to insert the first replaceable absorbent core component into the absorbent article.
- 10. A disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, comprising:
a chassis forming a waist opening and a pair of leg openings and having longitudinally opposing first and second waist end edges, longitudinally opposing first and second waist regions adjacent to the respective waist end edges, and a crotch region longitudinally intermediate of the waist regions; and a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in the crotch region; wherein the chassis has a crotch point and forms a openable chassis pocket extending from the first waist region into and ending in the crotch region and adapted to receive an absorbent insert extending from the first waist region into the crotch region no farther than the crotch point.
- 11. The disposable absorbent article of claim 10 wherein the chassis comprises a wearer-facing layer and a garment-facing layer forming the openable chassis pocket, the openable chassis pocket having an openable end disposed in the first waist region, an extensible waistband attached to the wearer-facing layer adjacent to the openable end, and an extensible portion of the garment-facing layer adjacent to the openable end.
- 12. The disposable absorbent article of claim 10 wherein the chassis comprises a wearer-facing layer and a garment-facing layer forming the openable chassis pocket adapted to receive the absorbent insert and the absorbent insert is removably disposed inside the openable chassis pocket.
- 13. The disposable absorbent article of claim 10 wherein the chassis comprises a wearer-facing layer and a garment-facing layer forming the openable chassis pocket adapted to receive the absorbent insert, the absorbent insert is removably disposed inside the openable chassis pocket, and the openable chassis pocket has an inner end located in the crotch region and formed by an area of joining of the wearer-facing layer and the non-removable absorbent core component, the garment-facing layer and the non-removable absorbent core component, the wearer-facing layer and the garment-facing layer and the non-removable absorbent core component, or the wearer-facing layer and the garment-facing layer.
- 14. A method for using a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the absorbent article comprising:
a chassis forming a waist opening and a pair of leg openings and having longitudinally opposing first and second waist end edges, longitudinally opposing first and second waist regions adjacent to the respective waist end edges, and a crotch region longitudinally intermediate of the waist regions; and a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in the crotch region; wherein the chassis has a crotch point and forms an openable chassis pocket extending from the first waist region into and ending in the crotch region and adapted to receive an absorbent insert extending from the first waist region into the crotch region no farther than the crotch point, the method comprising the step of inserting the absorbent insert into the openable chassis pocket, removing the absorbent insert from the openable chassis pocket, inserting a like replacement absorbent insert into the openable chassis pocket, or replacing the absorbent insert by removing the absorbent insert from the openable chassis pocket and inserting a like replacement absorbent insert into the openable chassis pocket.
- 15. An article of commerce comprising a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the absorbent article comprising:
a chassis forming a waist opening and a pair of leg openings and having longitudinally opposing first and second waist end edges, longitudinally opposing first and second waist regions adjacent to the respective waist end edges, and a crotch region longitudinally intermediate of the waist regions; and a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in the crotch region; wherein the chassis has a crotch point and forms an openable chassis pocket extending from the first waist region into and ending in the crotch region and adapted to receive an absorbent insert extending from the first waist region into the crotch region no farther than the crotch point, the article of commerce further comprising instructions for inserting the absorbent insert into the openable chassis pocket, removing the absorbent insert from the openable chassis pocket, inserting a like replacement absorbent insert into the openable chassis pocket, or replacing the absorbent insert by removing the absorbent insert from the openable chassis pocket and inserting a like replacement absorbent insert into the openable chassis pocket.
- 16. A disposable absorbent insert adapted for use in a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the disposable absorbent insert having a major surface on which an openable insertion pocket is disposed.
- 17. The disposable absorbent insert of claim 16 wherein the absorbent insert has an inner insert end and the openable insertion pocket has an openable end facing away from the inner insert end.
- 18. The disposable absorbent insert of claim 16 wherein the absorbent insert has a major surface having a liquid impermeable region and a liquid permeable region having a periphery and bounded on a portion of the periphery by the liquid impermeable region.
- 19. A method for using a disposable absorbent insert adapted for use in a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the absorbent insert having a major surface on which an openable insertion pocket is disposed, the method comprising the step of inserting the absorbent insert into the absorbent article, removing the absorbent insert from the absorbent article, or replacing the absorbent insert by removing the absorbent insert from the absorbent article and inserting a like replacement absorbent insert into the absorbent article.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein the method comprises the step of using the insertion pocket to insert the absorbent insert into the absorbent article.
- 21. An article of commerce comprising a disposable absorbent insert adapted for use in a disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body, the absorbent insert having a major surface on which an openable insertion pocket is disposed, the article of commerce further comprising instructions for inserting the absorbent insert into the absorbent article, removing the absorbent insert from the absorbent article, or replacing the absorbent insert by removing the absorbent insert from the absorbent article and inserting a like replacement absorbent insert into the absorbent article.
- 22. The article of commerce of claim 21 wherein the instructions include instructions for using the insertion pocket to insert the absorbent insert into the absorbent article.
