Claims
- 1. A detection system for determining the position of an object moving along a first direction, comprising at least two magnetic field detectors for detecting a magnetic field signal generated by a magnetic field source, wherein the detectors are coupled to the object along a second direction substantially normal to the first direction, and wherein the detectors are positioned a distance H from the magnetic field source along a third direction substantially normal to the first and second directions, the detection system processing the magnetic field signal to determine the distance of the object from the magnetic field source along the second direction, wherein the determination of distance is independent of H.
- 2. A detection system for determining the position of an object moving along a first direction, comprising at least two magnetic field detectors for detecting a magnetic field signal generated by a magnetic field source, wherein the detectors are coupled to the object along a second direction substantially normal to the first direction, and wherein the strength of the magnetic field signals varies along the first direction, the detection system processing the magnetic field signal to determine the distance of the object from the magnetic field source along the second direction, wherein the determination of distance is independent of a variation in the strength of the magnetic field signals.
