Claims
- 1. A distance measuring apparatus in a lens-shutter type camera provided with a photographic lens, a focal length of said photographic lens being variable, said camera having a regular photography mode in which a subject located beyond a predetermined distance from said camera is photographed and a macro photography mode in which a subject at a distance closer to said camera than said predetermined distance within a predetermined range is photographed, said distance measuring device comprising:
- a distance measuring unit fixed to a camera body of said camera, said distance measuring unit comprising a pair of image forming lenses, each image forming lens forming a subject image, and a pair of line sensors on which said subject images are respectively formed through said pair of image forming lenses, each line sensor having a plurality of light receiving elements, each light receiving element converting received light into an electrical signal when actuated, wherein optical axes of said pair of image forming lenses are spaced from an optical axis of said photographic lens;
- a storage device that stores predetermined correction data corresponding to an amount of deviation between a first group of light receiving elements of said plurality of light receiving elements upon which a subject image of a subject located beyond said predetermined distance is incident in said regular photography mode, and a second group of light receiving elements of said plurality of light receiving elements upon which said subject image is incident in said macro photography mode;
- a selector that selects a group of light receiving elements from said plurality of light receiving elements in accordance with said predetermined correction data, only light receiving elements of said selected group being actuated to generate said electrical signal; and
- a calculator that calculates a subject distance value, using subject image data formed by said electrical signals generated through said light receiving elements of said selected group.
- 2. The distance measuring apparatus of claim 1, wherein said predetermined correction data is stored in a memory provided in said camera.
- 3. The distance measuring apparatus of claim 2, wherein said memory is a ROM.
- 4. The distance measuring apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of corresponding light receiving areas formed on each of said pair of line sensors, each light receiving area including a predetermined number of said plurality of light receiving elements, wherein said plurality of light receiving areas respectively receive different areas of a corresponding one of said subject images formed through said pair of image forming lenses,
- wherein said selector comprises a shifting system that shifts each of said plurality of light receiving areas in a common direction by an amount corresponding to said predetermined correction data, and further wherein a plurality of light receiving elements included in said plurality of light receiving areas, having been shifted by said shifting system, are used for generating said electrical signals.
- 5. The distance measuring apparatus of claim 4, wherein each adjacent pair of light receiving areas of said plurality of light receiving areas overlap each other.
- 6. The distance measuring apparatus of claim 1, wherein said photographic lens is a zoom lens.
- 7. The distance measuring apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a switch that switches said camera from said regular photography mode to said macro photography mode, wherein said selector starts operating when said switch switches said camera from said regular photography mode to said macro photography mode.
