Claims
- 1. A distributed switching system, comprising:
- a plurality of first switching modules each operating independently and each having a call processor which performs a call processing in accordance with information from a subscriber line or trunk line, said each switching module further includes a determination and management circuit which determines and manages a busy/idle status of the subscriber lines or trunk line accommodated in said each switching modules and a converter which converts said information to fixed-length packets each having a header added thereto and sending/receiving resulting fixed-length packets, said header containing destination information of said information;
- a transmitter which interconnects said plurality of switching modules; and
- a communication network having a self-routing function of sending/receiving said fixed-length packets among said plurality of switching modules via said transmitter, wherein the call processing function is distributed in said communication network.
- 2. A distributed switching system according to claim 1, wherein said each switching modules include a destination determination circuit which determines a destination of information inputted from a subscriber line or a trunk line, wherein said includes status management circuit which stores busy/idle status of the subscriber lines or trunk line, a status determination circuit which determines whether the subscriber lines or trunk line is busy or idle and a sending/receiving circuit which sends/receives an output of said status determination circuit by said fixed-length packets, wherein said plurality of switching modules send/receive information based on the idle/busy status to perform the call processing.
- 3. A switching system for performing a call processing in accordance with information sent from subscriber lines or a trunk line, comprising:
- a first sending/receiving circuit which sends/receives said information to/from the subscriber lines or trunk line;
- a destination determination circuit which determines a destination of the information;
- a converter which edits the information in accordance with respective destinations to form fixed-length information blocks and converts the information blocks to fixed-length packets each having a header added thereto, said header including destination information of a destination switching system to which an associated information block is to be sent;
- a second sending/receiving which puts a plurality of the fixed-length packets onto a transmission line to send/receive said plurality of the fixed-length packets to/from the destination switching system;
- a status management circuit which stores busy/idle status of the subscriber lines or trunk line of the switching system;
- a status determination circuit which determines the busy/idle status of the subscriber lines or trunk line of the switching system; and
- a notifying circuit circuit which sends/receives a determination result of said status determination circuit via the second sending/receiving circuit and the transmission line between the switching system and the destination switching system between which a sending/receiving of the information occurs,
- wherein said call processing comprises the functions of:
- requesting said destination switching system to establish a call, and
- causing said destination switching system to receive a response indicating that said status management circuit and status determination circuit have captured a subscriber line or trunk line of said destination switching systems.
- 4. A switching system according to claim 3, wherein a number t of the fixed-length packets which are sent/received on the transmission line which connects switching systems involved together is a number that satisfies the following relation:
- t.gtoreq.(n-1)+{c-(n-1)}/i
- wherein the number of the subscriber lines or trunk line accommodated in the switching system is denoted as c, the number of the switching systems involved is denoted as n, and the length in bytes of the information constituting a fixed-length packet subtracted by an h byte header is denoted as i.
- 5. A switching system comprising:
- a plurality of first switching modules each having a call processor which performs a call processing in accordance with information from subscriber lines or a trunk line and a converter which converts said information to fixed-length packets each having a header added thereto, each header containing destination information of said information;
- a plurality of second switching modules connected to said first switching modules via a transmitter and having a self-routing switch for switching said information between the first and second switching modules in units of a fixed-length packet in accordance with the header,
- wherein fixed-length packets output from a sending first switching modules arrive at a destination first switching modules via at least one second switching modules.
- 6. A switching system which includes a plurality of switching modules which inputs/outputs line switching information or packet switching information from subscriber lines or a trunk line, edits said line switching information or packet switching information into information blocks of a fixed length, converts said information blocks to fixed-length packets each containing an information block and a header added to the information block which includes information of a destination of the information block, and sends/receives the fixed-length packets to/from transmission lines, said switching means comprising:
- a multiplexor which inputs/outputs said line switching information or packet switching information;
- a buffer which stores packet switching information which are sent/received to/from said multiplexor;
- a converter, coupled to said multiplexor and buffer, which edits line switching information to be sent/received to/from said multiplexor or packet switching information to be sent/received to/from said buffer into information blocks of a fixed-length, converts the information blocks to fixed-length packets each having a header added thereto, said header containing destination information of the fixed-length packet, and sending/receiving the fixed-length packets to/from said transmission lines; and
- a controller which controls said multiplexor, buffer and converter to perform call processing and switching processing, said call processing including a procedure for analyzing statuses of destination switching modules to which said fixed-length packets are to be sent and of the subscriber lines or trunk line of said destination switching modules,
- wherein said controller controls said buffer and converter so that fixed-length packets each containing therein packet switching information are sent/received to/from said transmission lines when no fixed-length packets containing the line switching information are present on said transmission lines.
- 7. A switching system according to claim 6, wherein said converter is arranged to add, as said header containing destination information, at least a fixed-length packet usage status identifying identifier, an information-type identifying identifier for a fixed-length packet to be switched, a sending apparatus identifying identifier, a destination apparatus identifying identifier and a destination identifier corresponding to information on a fixed-length packet to be switched.
