Claims
- 1. A 5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid compound of the formula ##STR33## or a physiologically tolerated salt thereof, wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is benzyl, phenylthio, or anilino, in each of which the phenyl ring may be substituted by halogen, CF.sub.3, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and A is a --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -group which may be substituted by halogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 2. A compound or salt as in claim 1 wherein X is benzyl.
- 3. A compound as in claim 1 wherein X is phenylthio.
- 4. A compound as in claim 1 wherein X is anilino.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 which is 3-N-pyrrolidino-4-phenylthio-5-sulfamyl benzoic acid.
- 6. The compound as defined in claim 1, which is 4-benzyl-3(1-pyrrolidinyl)-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid or its methyl ester.
- 7. The compound as defined in claim 1, which is 4-(4'-methyl-benzyl)3(1-pyrrolidinyl)-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid or its methyl ester.
- 8. A diuretically and saluretically active composition containing 0.5 to 100 mg per dosage unit of a compound as defined in claim 1 and a pharmaceutically tolerable carrier therefor.
- 9. A method of treatment which comprises administering to a patient a diuretically or saluretically effective amount of compound as defined in claim 1.
