Claims
- 1. A dolly for a large appliance, comprising:
a single, unitary, monolithic, solid, unbroken steel plate panel having a first end, a second end opposite said first end, and a central floor area therebetween for carriage of a large appliance thereon, each said end being higher than said central floor area; and a first pair of supporting caster wheels disposed beneath said first end and a second pair of caster wheels disposed beneath said second end, each of said caster wheels having an axle, said central floor area being lower than said axle of each of said caster wheels when said caster wheels are resting upon a level supporting surface.
- 2. The dolly according to claim 1, further including:
a laterally disposed slot formed through each said end; and a roller lever having a first end with an upwardly disposed tongue extending therefrom, a second end opposite said first end, and a caster wheel installed therebeneath adjacent said first end, with said caster wheel defining a fulcrum; wherein said tongue of said roller lever selectively engages one said slot for levering the corresponding said end of said panel clear of an underlying surface about said fulcrum, by applying foot pressure to said second end of said roller lever.
- 3. The dolly according to claim 1, for use with an appliance having a plurality of forwardly and rearwardly disposed support feet therebeneath defining fore and aft appliance foot spacing, wherein:
each said end of said plate has a width; and said central floor area has a width narrower than the width of each said end, the width of said central floor area being adapted for placing the appliance on the central floor area with the feet of the appliance straddling said central floor area in order to preclude lateral movement of the appliance upon said central floor area when the appliance is placed sideways thereon.
- 4. The dolly according to claim 1, further including:
a pair of opposed handle bar sockets disposed atop said first end; and a generally U-shaped, push handle bar having a first end and an opposite second end, each end of the handle bar being removably installed within a corresponding one of said pair of opposed handle bar sockets.
- 5. The dolly according to claim 4, further including:
means for removably attaching a cargo strap to said push handle bar; and a cargo strap removably secured to said push handle bar, for removably securing the appliance to said push handle bar.
- 6. The dolly according to claim 1, wherein:
each said end has a mutually facing edge; and each said edge further includes padding disposed therealong.
- 7. The dolly according to claim 1, wherein:
at least said central floor area has an upper surface having a non-skid, diamond pattern finish.
- 8. A dolly for a large appliance, comprising:
a rectangular panel having a first end, a second end opposite said first end, and a central floor area therebetween for carriage of a large appliance thereon, each end having a laterally disposed slot formed therethrough; a pair of supporting caster wheels disposed beneath each said end; and a roller lever having a first end with an upwardly disposed tongue extending therefrom, a second end opposite said first end, and a caster wheel installed therebeneath adjacent said first end, with said caster wheel defining a fulcrum; wherein said tongue of said roller lever selectively engages one said slot for levering the corresponding said end of said panel clear of an underlying surface about said fulcrum, by applying foot pressure to said second end of said roller lever.
- 9. The dolly according to claim 8, wherein:
said panel comprises a single, unitary, monolithic, solid, unbroken steel plate; each said end is higher than said central floor area; and each of said caster wheels has an axle, with said central floor area being lower than said axle of each of said caster wheels when said caster wheels are resting upon a level supporting surface.
- 10. The dolly according to claim 8, for use with an appliance having a plurality of forwardly and rearwardly disposed support feet therebeneath defining fore and aft appliance foot spacing, wherein:
each said end of said panel has a width; said central floor area has a width narrower than the width of each said end of said panel, and; the width of said central floor area is adapted for placing the appliance on said central floor area with the feet of the appliance straddling said central floor area in order to preclude lateral movement of the appliance upon said central floor area when the appliance is placed sideways thereon.
- 11. The dolly according to claim 8, further including:
a pair of opposed handle bar sockets disposed atop said first end; and a generally U-shaped, push handle bar having a first end and an opposite second end, each end of the handle bar being removably installed within a corresponding one of said pair of opposed handle bar sockets.
- 12. The dolly according to claim 11, further including:
means for removably attaching a cargo strap to said push handle bar; and a cargo strap removably secured to said push handle bar, for removably securing the appliance to said push handle bar.
- 13. The dolly according to claim 8, wherein:
each said end has a mutually facing edge; and each said edge further includes padding disposed therealong.
- 14. The dolly according to claim 8, wherein:
at least said central floor area has an upper surface having a non-skid, diamond pattern finish.
- 15. A dolly for a large appliance having a plurality of forwardly and rearwardly disposed support feet therebeneath defining fore and aft appliance foot spacing, the dolly comprising:
a rectangular panel having a first end, a second end opposite said first end, and a central floor area therebetween for carriage of a large appliance thereon; each said end having a width; said central floor area having a width narrower than the width of each said end; and wherein the width of said central floor area is adapted for placing the appliance on said central floor area with the feet of the appliance straddling said central floor area in order to preclude lateral movement of the appliance upon said central floor area when the appliance is placed sideways thereon.
- 16. The dolly according to claim 15, wherein said panel comprises a single, unitary, monolithic, solid, unbroken steel plate and each said end of said panel is higher than said central floor area, the dolly further comprising:
a pair of supporting caster wheels disposed beneath each said end of said panel, each of said caster wheels having an axle, said central floor area being lower than said axle of each of said caster wheels when said caster wheels are resting upon a level supporting surface.
- 17. The dolly according to claim 15, further including:
a laterally disposed slot formed through each said end; and a roller lever having a first end with an upwardly disposed tongue extending therefrom, a second end opposite said first end, and a caster wheel installed therebeneath adjacent said first end, with said caster wheel defining a fulcrum; wherein said tongue of said roller lever selectively engages one said slot for levering the corresponding said end of said panel clear of an underlying surface about said fulcrum, by applying foot pressure to said second end of said roller lever.
- 18. The dolly according to claim 15, further including:
a pair of opposed handle bar sockets disposed atop said first end; and a generally U-shaped, push handle bar having a first end and an opposite second end each end of the handle bar being removably installed within a corresponding one of said pair of opposed handle bar sockets.
- 19. The dolly according to claim 18, further including:
means for removably attaching a cargo strap to said push handle bar; and a cargo strap removably secured to said push handle bar, for removably securing the appliance to said push handle bar.
- 20. The dolly according to claim 15, wherein:
each said end has a mutually facing edge; each said edge further includes padding disposed therealong; and at least said central floor area has an upper surface having a non-skid, diamond pattern finish.
