Claims
- 1. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide or its complement, the polynucleotide having an uninterrupted coding sequence that encodes a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is at least 35% identical to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6.
- 2. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is at least 50% identical to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6.
- 3. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is at least 70% identical to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6.
- 4. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6.
- 5. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6.
- 6. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is identical to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6.
- 7. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide or its complement, the polynucleotide having an uninterrupted coding sequence that encodes a polypeptide having the sequence of SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:6, SEQ ID NO:3 with conservative amino acid substitutions, or SEQ ID NO:6 with conservative amino acid substitutions.
- 8. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 7, wherein the polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence identical to SEQ ID NO:2 or SEQ ID NO:5.
- 9. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising:
a polynucleotide or an anti-sense fragment thereof, the polynucleotide having a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide, the polypeptide being at least 35% identical in amino acid sequence to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6; and a normative plant expressible promoter operably linked to the polynucleotide or the anti-sense fragment.
- 10. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 9, wherein the polynucleotide or the anti-sense fragment is effective when expressed in a transgenic plant to cause an alteration in the flower initiation time in the transgenic plant as compared to a non-transgenic plant of the same genetic background.
- 11. A constructed nucleic acid molecule comprising:
a polynucleotide or an anti-sense fragment thereof, the polynucleotide having an uninterrupted coding sequence that encodes a polypeptide, the polypeptide being at least 35% identical in amino acid sequence to SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:6; and a plant expressible promoter operably linked to the polynucleotide or the anti-sense fragment.
- 12. The constructed nucleic acid molecule of claim 11, wherein the polynulceotide or the anti-sense fragment is effective when expressed in a transgenic plant to cause an alteration in the flower initiation time in the transgenic plant as compared to a non-transgenic plant of the same genetic background.
- 13. A transgenic plant comprising in its genome the nucleic acid molecule of claim 9.
- 14. A transgenic plant comprising in its genome the nucleic acid molecule of claim 11.
- 15. A transgenic plant, plant cell, or plant tissue comprising a non-native genetic construct that produces altered levels of VIN4 protein or VIN4-relative protein relative to the natural amount of VIN4 protein or VIN4-relative protein in a non-transgenic plant, plant cell, or plant tissue.
