Claims
- 1. A door striker for use in a vehicle, the door striker comprising:a mounting plate having means for attaching the mounting plate to a vehicle; an arm positioned relative to and extending from the mounting plate, the arm having a boss; and at least one striker bolt connecting the mounting plate to the arm through the boss, the striker bolt having a head positioned in contact with the mounting plate and an end positioned in contact with the arm.
- 2. The vehicle door striker of claim 1 wherein the boss has a hole therethrough.
- 3. The vehicle door striker of claim 2 wherein the striker bolt has a head and a threaded end.
- 4. The vehicle door striker of claim 3 further comprising a sleeve surrounding the striker bolt.
- 5. The vehicle door striker of claim 4 wherein the sleeve surrounding the striker bolt further includes an interior surface with a plurality of angled longitudinal ridges and a smooth exterior impact surface.
- 6. The vehicle door striker of claim 4 wherein the sleeve surrounding the striker bolt further includes an interior surface with pointed longitudinal projections along a length thereof and a round exterior impact surface.
- 7. The vehicle door striker of claim 1 further comprising a cover at least partially enveloping the mounting plate.
- 8. The vehicle door striker of claim 7 wherein the means for attaching the mounting plate to a vehicle includes at least one mounting bolt hole through the mounting plate, the cover has at least one mounting bolt retention hole therethrough substantially concentric with the at least one mounting bolt hole through the mounting plate, and the mounting bolt retention hole through the cover has a smaller diameter than that of the mounting bolt hole through the mounting plate so as to be capable of interfering with a mounting bolt partially inserted through the mounting bolt hole and the mounting bolt retention hole.
- 9. A door striker for use in a vehicle, the door striker comprising:a U-shaped striker plate having a mounting plate connected to an arm by a support segment, the mounting plate having a striker bolt hole and a distal portion of the arm having a securement hole therethrough, the mounting plate including means for attaching the mounting plate to a vehicle; a boss protruding from the distal portion of the arm on a side of the arm oriented toward the mounting plate, the securement hole through the distal portion of the arm extending through the boss; and a striker bolt having a head and an engagement end with a shaft therebetween, the striker bolt inserted through the striker bolt hole in the mounting plate such that the head is proximal the mounting plate and the engagement end connects through the securement hole to the distal portion of the arm.
- 10. The vehicle door striker of claim 9 wherein the engagement end of the striker bolt connects to the distal portion of the arm by threading the engagement end of the striker bolt into the securement hole.
- 11. The vehicle door striker of claim 10 wherein the shaft portion of the striker bolt has a larger diameter than that of the engagement end and wherein the shaft portion abuts the boss when the engagement end of the striker bolt is connected to the distal portion of the arm.
- 12. A door striker for use in a vehicle, the door striker comprising:a U-shaped striker plate having a mounting plate connected to an arm by a support segment, the mounting plate having a striker bolt hole and a distal portion of the arm having a securement hole therethrough, the mounting plate including means for attaching the mounting plate to a vehicle; a boss protruding from the distal portion of the arm on a side of the arm oriented toward the mounting plate, the securement hole through the distal portion of the arm extending through the boss; and a striker bolt having a head and an engagement end with a shaft therebetween, the striker bolt inserted through the striker bolt hole in the mounting plate such that the head is proximal the mounting plate and the engagement end of the striker bolt connects to the distal portion of the arm by threading the engagement end into the securement hole through the boss and the distal portion of the arm.
- 13. The vehicle door striker of claim 12 wherein the shaft portion of the striker bolt has a larger diameter than that of the engagement end and wherein the shaft portion abuts the boss when the engagement end of the striker bolt is connected to the distal portion of the arm.
- 14. A door striker for use in a vehicle, the door striker comprising:a mounting plate having means for attaching the mounting plate to a vehicle; an arm extending from and positioned relative to the mounting plate, the arm having a boss protruding from a distal portion of the arm on a side of the arm oriented toward the mounting plate; and a striker bolt having a head and an engagement end connecting the arm and the mounting plate, the engagement end of the striker bolt connected to the distal portion of the arm through the boss, the head positioned proximate the mounting plate.
- 15. The vehicle door striker of claim 14 wherein the engagement end of the striker bolt connects to the distal portion of the arm by threading the engagement end into the boss.
- 16. A door striker for use in a vehicle, the door striker comprising:a mounting plate having means for attaching the mounting plate to a vehicle; an arm extending from and positioned relative to the mounting plate, the arm having a boss protruding from a distal portion of the arm on a side of the arm oriented toward the mounting plate; and a striker bolt having an engagement end connecting the arm and the mounting plate, the engagement end of the striker bolt connected to the distal portion of the arm by threading the engagement end into the boss.
