Claims
- 1. An apparatus for dotting molding tools with droplets of liquid or suspended lubricant in the pharmaceutical, food, or catalyst field, which comprises a dotting shoe with one or more capillaries and a nozzle or nozzles; separate gas and lubricant feed lines feeding the same capillary or capillaries, each having fast-action valves which open and close in an interval of from about 50 .mu.sec. to 5 msec.; a source of pressurized gas connected to the gas feed line; a pressurized storage container for the lubricant liquid or suspension, connected to the lubricant feed line; pressure regulating valves in and/or between the gas and lubricant feed lines; and means for periodically controlling the fast-action valves.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, which comprises a dotting shoe with one or more capillaries in conjunction with nozzles, the nozzle openings of which are arranged on one side or both sides in a row or in a geometric distribution, adapted to the configuration of the shapes which are to be compressed, over the surface of the dotting shoe, the capillaries each being connected to its own fork or being together connected to a common fork, said fork consisting of pressurized gas and lubricant feed lines.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the capillaries are tapered stepwise or conically towards the nozzle outlet openings at the ends.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the dotting shoe is round in shape, the nozzles are arranged in a geometric distribution over one or several surfaces or edges of the dotting shoe, and the nozzles are connected to the feed lines via capillaries or via a capillary-like chamber.
- 5. An apparatus of claim 1, wherein the nozzles are arranged on the dotting shoe in such a way that they point to specific zones of the upper die, lower die, and matrix of the molding tools.
- 6. An apparatus of claim 1, wherein pneumatically, electromagnetically, piezomechanically, or piezoelectrically operated fast-action valves are connected to an electronic control system having a proximity switch.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the fast-action valves are arranged so as to be actuatable in conjunction with specific nozzles independently of other valves in conjunction with other nozzles.
