Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a mechanism for change of magazine, designed to be used with all magazine-fed rifles. Magazine change mechanism allows magazine to be changed from both sides of the rifle. In particular, the present invention relates to the mechanism, which releases the magazine seated in the magazine well. The particularly designed pedal housing on the lock, in the magazine change mechanism, moves the pedal, designed to be used for changing the magazine, towards magazine-fed rifle barrel or stock.

PREVIOUS TECHNIQUE

Nowadays, magazines, which have a square geometry and store ammunition therein, are used in rifles. Magazines are a separate element, which are loaded with bullets and inserted to the rifle while preparing the rifle for firing. Since magazines have specific capacity, it is required to change them when the ammunition loaded therein runs out. The most important factor is to be able to change the magazine in a swift and easy manner.

In the state of the art the magazine release pin in magazine-fed rifles is a component used in changing the magazine of a rifle. The magazine release pins in the existing systems are positioned at the right or the left side of the magazine. This causes the operator to remove its hand from the trigger based on the dominant hand (depending on use of right or left hand) and then to press on the magazine release pin. In this system, the process for changing the magazine of the rifle and for preparing the rifle for the next firing sequence requires an extended amount of time. This amount of time handicaps its practical use. The available system is insufficient for magazine changes in both tactical shots and military shots.

The patent document numbered U.S. Pat. No. 9,121,651B1 relates to a magazine lock and release mechanism that is designed to change the magazine of a rifle from both sides. Because of the simplex movements of the pin being used to change the magazine in this mechanism, corrosions occur over time thereby causing non-functionality. Consequently, a frequent replacement of mechanism, which causes extra costs, is required.

The aforementioned problems in the state of the art oblige and require performing studies in the related technical fields pertaining to magazine change mechanisms.

AIM OF THE INVENTION

The main object is to carry out the magazine release and locking processes in the shortest amount of time. This could be achieved by means of the magazine change mechanism comprising a pedal that can move at both the barrel and stock side, wherein the magazine lock which fastens the magazine to the rifle can be reached in a short time.

Another object is to provide a pedal in the magazine change mechanism that is both user-friendly and long lasting by means of making it functional.

Another object is to easily change the magazine from both sides of the rifle. This could be achieved by locating a pedal, which is engaged with the release pin located at the other side of the rifle, in addition to the lock release pin. In the state of the art, the release pin is located at one side of the rifle (right or left) and releases the magazine lock when pressed thereon.

The structural and characteristic aspects and all advantages of the present invention will be understood more clearly by means of the following figures and the written detailed description by making references to these figures. Therefore, these figures and the detailed description should be taken into account while the necessary evaluation is being conducted.

SUMMARY

In accordance with an aspect of these disclosures, there is provided a double-sided magazine change mechanism, including: at least one pedal housing which may have at least one housing angle, wherein the housing angle may be located at the interior surface of a lock. At least one pedal may have at least one centering hole, wherein the centering hole may be located at a centering pin of the main body. At least one curved end may be at the end of the pedal, wherein the curved end may be seated in the pedal housing and may open and close the lock by means of the movement of the pedal around the centering hole.

The double-sided magazine change mechanism may also have housing angle value in the range of 0°-90° and may have a curved end in a semicircular form.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 shows a magazine-fed rifle (A), wherein the magazine change mechanism (1) is located. The magazine change mechanism (1), main body (2) and magazine (3) are located in said magazine-fed rifle (A).

FIG. 2 shows the magazine change mechanism (1), main body (2) and magazine (3) in an unmounted manner The magazine change mechanism (1) is comprised of a lock (1.1), pin (1.2), pedal (1.3), connection screw (1.4), spring (1.5), pedal housing (1.6) and tab (1.7).

FIG. 4 shows a pedal (1.3) that can move towards both barrel and stock, parallel to the magazine-fed rifle (A), wherein it is designed to be rotated around its own axis.

The centering hole (1.10) formed on the pedal (1.3) is engaged with the centering pin (2.4) (shown in FIG. 2) on the main body, wherein curved end (1.9) of said pedal (1.3) is seated within the pedal housing (1.6) (shown in FIGS. 2 and 3) in the interior surface of the lock (1.1). The curved end (1.9) have a semicircular form. The pedal housing (1.6) comprises at least one housing angle (1.8). Other embodiments of pedal housing (1.6) may have more than one angle having a value in the range of 0°-90°. The lock (1.1) (shown in FIGS. 2 and 3) is located in the lock housing slot (2.1) at the main body (2). It is engaged with the pin (1.2) by mounting the connection screw (1.4) to the end of the lock (1.1) at the pedal (1.3) side. There is a spiral spring (1.5) on the connection screw (1.4). The pin (1.2) is located in the pin hole (2.2) (shown in FIG. 5) that is in parallel with the lock slot (2.1) on the main body (2). The magazine (3) is seated in the magazine well (2.3) by moving it under the main body (2) and is caught and locked by means of the tab (1.7) at the end of the lock (1.1).

FIG. 3 shows the pedal housing (1.6) which comprises two housing angles (1.8), thereby allowing preferably the pedal (1.3) to move towards barrel or stock. The movement of the curved end (1.9) (shown in FIG. 4) located within the pedal housing (1.6) ensures the lock (1.1) to be opened or closed by moving in said pedal housing (1.6). It is also ensured that the pedal (1.3) is moved in a simplex manner, when one of the housing angles (1.8) is preferably formed of 90°. As a result of the movement of the pedal (1.3), said end of the lock (1.1) engaged with the pin (1.2) is driven against said pin (1.2). The spring (1.5) inserted to the connection screw (1.4) is tightened by means of this driving. The tab (1.7) at the end of the lock (1.1) is released from the lock housing (3.1) on the side surface of the magazine (3) by means of tightening the spring (1.5) and said magazine (3) is released. The spring (1.5) is tightened because of the force applied on the pedal (1.3) and abuts against the pin (1.2) located at the other end of the connection screw (1.4). The lock (1.1) and the tab (1.7) located at the end of said lock (1.1) are re-seated in their positions, when operator eliminates the force applied on the pedal (1.3).

The magazine change mechanism (1) ensures the magazine (3) to be changed from both sides of the magazine-fed rifle (A). The spring (1.5) on the connection screw (1.4) is tightened by applying force on the pedal (1.3) or the pin (1.2), wherein the tab (1.7) on the lock (1.1) ensures the magazine (3) to be released from the lock housing (3.1) on its side surface. Thus, the magazine (3) positioned in the magazine well (2.3) is released.

Tightening of the spring (1.5) by means of the force applied on the pedal (1.3) towards barrel or stock in parallel with the rifle is ensured by way of moving horizontally the connection screw (1.4) towards the pin (1.2). Another option is the method for tightening the spring (1.5) by means of moving horizontally the connection screw (1.4) towards the lock (1.1) by applying force on the pin (1.2). Both operation modes of the magazine change mechanism (1) may be employed in changing the magazine (3) in magazine-fed rifles (A).
