The invention relates to heating systems. More specifically, but not exclusively, the invention relates to fire pits.
Fire pits are common to create outdoor atmosphere and heat during cold weather. The heat coming from the conventional fire pit rises upwardly and to some extent it flows outwardly for persons around the fire pit to enjoy. Persons must sit very close to the fire pit to receive its heat benefits.
What is needed is a fire pit that will provide heat comfort to persons sitting around the fire pit some distance from the fire pit itself.
Therefore, it is the primary objective, feature, and/or advantage of the invention to improve on and/or overcome a deficiencies in the art.
It is another object, feature, and/or advantage of the invention to utilize fire pit heat for providing heat to persons sitting at some distance from the fire pit by heat being transmitted radially outwardly in addition to vertically upwardly.
It is yet another object, feature, and/or advantage of the invention to provide a pair of spaced apart inner and outer vertical concentric walls providing a circular air passageway therebetween with the passageway receiving heat from the fire pit being conducted through the inner wall into the passageway.
These and/or other objects, features, and advantages of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art. The invention is not to be limited to or by these objects, features, and advantages. No single embodiments need provide each and every object, feature, or advantage.
Various embodiments of the invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings, where like reference numerals represent like parts throughout the several views. Reference to various embodiments does not limit the scope of the invention. Figures represented herein are not limitations to the various embodiments according to the invention and are presented for exemplary illustration of the invention.
The double wall fire pit 10 shown in
An air inlet opening 20 is provided in the outer wall 14 and receives a pipe 22 having an inner end 24 inside the air passageway 16 and an outer end 26 extending outwardly and above ground for connection to a fan 28. An electrical power cord 30 is provided for operating the fan 28.
A chamber 32 is provided inside the fire pit to receive flammable materials such as firewood (not shown). The heat from the flammable material when burning is transmitted through the metal inner wall 12 to the air passageway 16 which is circulating air as indicated by the arrows 34 inside the air passageway.
Air outlet openings 36 are positioned around and through the outer wall 14 to distribute heated air through conduits 38 to registers 40 facing upwardly and providing heated air 42. Ground material 44 is provided over the conduits 38 to provide a finished look surrounding the fire pit 10. The top wall 18 is coplanar with the ground material 44.
