Claims
- 1. A drain support plate adapted to fasten to a receptacle body of a drain, the receptacle body having a first end and a second end, the first end of the receptacle body having at least one protrusion extending away from the receptacle body, the second end of the receptacle body adapted to fasten to a drain pipe, the drain support plate comprising:
a body having a first portion and a second portion, wherein said first portion of said body is spaced from said second portion of said body, said first portion of said body defining a peripheral edge, said second portion of said body having an inner edge defining a center passageway spaced radially and axially apart from said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body and adapted to receive the receptacle body, and said second portion of said body defining at least one slot adapted to receive a member for attaching the receptacle body to said body, wherein a distance between said first portion and said second portion of said body is sufficient for said second portion of said body to support the receptacle body, and wherein said slot in said second portion of said body is adapted to be aligned with the receptacle body for receiving a member for attaching the receptacle body to said body.
- 2. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said body is made of a unitary piece of metal.
- 3. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said second portion of said body defines a plurality of slots adapted to receive members for attaching the receptacle body to said body.
- 4. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 3, wherein said plurality of slots are defined on said inner edge of said second portion of said body.
- 5. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body is rectangular shaped and said inner edge of said second portion of said body is arcuate shaped.
- 6. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said inner edge comprises a plurality of arcs.
- 7. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said body comprises a plurality of first portion slots defined adjacent said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body, said first portion slots adapted to receive fasteners for securing said support plate to a deck.
- 8. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 7, wherein said first portion slots are elongated.
- 9. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said center passageway is geometrically shaped.
- 10. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 9, wherein said center passageway is circular shaped.
- 11. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein said body comprises an intermediate portion positioned between said first portion and said second portion of said body, wherein said intermediate portion of said body tapers in a direction away from said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body toward said inner edge of said second portion of said body.
- 12. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 11, wherein an upper surface of said first portion of said body is contained in a first plane and an upper surface of said second portion of said body is contained in a second plane axially spaced from said first plane, and said intermediate portion of said body extends from said first plane to said second plane.
- 13. The drain support plate as claimed in claim 12, wherein said first plane is parallel to said second plane.
- 14. A drain support plate assembly comprising:
a receptacle body of a drain, said receptacle body having a first end and a second end, said first end of said receptacle body having at least one protrusion extending away from said receptacle body, said second end of said receptacle body adapted to fasten to a drain pipe; and a drain support plate having a body, said body having a first portion and a second portion, wherein said first portion of said body is spaced from said second portion of said body, said first portion of said body defining a peripheral edge, said second portion of said body having an inner edge defining a center passageway spaced radially and axially apart from said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body and adapted to receive said receptacle body, and said second portion of said body defining at least one slot adapted to receive a member for attaching said receptacle body to said body, wherein a distance between said first portion and said second portion of said body is sufficient for said second portion of said body to support said receptacle body, and wherein said slot in said second portion of said body is adapted to be aligned with said receptacle body for receiving a member for attaching said receptacle body to said body, wherein said support plate is attached to said receptacle body via a member for attaching said receptacle body to said body through said slot in said second portion of said body and said receptacle body.
- 15. The drain support plate assembly as claimed in claim 14, further comprising a deck defining an opening for receiving a drain, said support plate assembly attached to said deck, wherein said receptacle body extends through said opening of said deck.
- 16. The roof drain support plate assembly as claimed in claim 15, wherein said deck is made of corrugated metal.
- 17. A method of installing a drain in a structure, said method comprising the steps of:
a) forming an opening in a deck; b) providing a receptacle body of a drain, said receptacle body having a first end and a second end, said first end of said receptacle body having at least one protrusion extending away from said receptacle body, said second end of said receptacle body adapted to fasten to a drain pipe; c) providing a drain support plate having a body, said body having a first portion and a second portion, wherein said first portion of said body is spaced from said second portion of said body, said first portion of said body defining a peripheral edge, said second portion of said body having an inner edge defining a center passageway spaced radially and axially apart from said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body and adapted to receive said receptacle body, and said second portion of said body defining at least one slot adapted to receive a member for attaching said receptacle body to said body; d) attaching said receptacle body of said drain to said second portion of said body of said support plate via a member for attaching said receptacle body to said body through said slot in said second portion of said body and said receptacle body, wherein a distance between said first portion and said second portion of said body is sufficient for said second portion of said body to support said receptacle body, and wherein said slot in said second portion of said body is adapted to be aligned with said receptacle body for receiving a member for attaching said receptacle body to said body, whereby said receptacle body extends through said center passageway of said body; and e) installing said support plate with said attached receptacle body to an upper surface of said deck, wherein said receptacle body extends through said opening in said deck.
- 18. The method as claimed in claim 17, further comprising the step of attaching said support plate to said deck.
- 19. The method as claimed in claim 18, wherein said body comprises a plurality of first portion slots defined adjacent said peripheral edge of said first portion of said body, and wherein said drain support plate is attached to said deck via fasteners through said first portion slots of said body and said deck.
- 20. The method as claimed in claim 18, wherein said drain support plate is attached to said deck via welding said first portion of said body to said deck.
- 21. The drain support plate assembly as claimed in claim 14, wherein said protrusion in said receptacle body defines a void adapted to receive a fastener, and wherein said slot in said second portion of said body is adapted to be aligned with said void in said protrusion of said receptacle body for receiving a fastener; and said member for attaching is a fastener,
wherein said support plate is attached to said receptacle body via said fastener through said slot in said second portion of said body and said void in said protrusion of said receptacle body.
- 22. The drain support plate assembly as claimed in claim 21, wherein said fastener is a threaded fastener.
- 23. The method as claimed in claim 17, wherein said protrusion in said receptacle body defines a void adapted to receive a fastener, and wherein said slot in said second portion of said body is adapted to be aligned with said void in said protrusion of said receptacle body for receiving a fastener; and said member for attaching is a fastener,
wherein said support plate is attached to said receptacle body via said fastener passing through said slot in said second portion of said body and said void in said protrusion of said receptacle body.
- 24. The method as claimed in claim 23, wherein said fastener is a threaded fastener.
