The invention relates to a drill chuck, including a chuck body connectable to a drill spindle, in which clamping jaws are arranged in guide receptacles, which run at an incline to the chuck axis and, for the purpose of opening and closing, are adjustable by a threaded ring, which is arranged so as to be rotatable and axially immovable with respect to the chuck body, including a locking device, which is made up of a coaxial circle of locking recess and at least one locking member, which is engageable or engaged with the locking recesses under the force of a locking spring, including an adjusting sleeve, which is rotatable to a limited extent between end stops and the rotation of which allows the locking member to be adjusted, and including a latching device which forms two latching positions in the circumferential direction, a dampener being arranged between the adjusting sleeve and the component adjacent thereto radially on the inside.
Drill chucks are known from EP 0 710 518 A2, which corresponds to US5765839, which is incorporated herein by reference, and in which, in particular, the structure of the interlock device formed from the locking device and the latching device, as well as its operation in interaction with the individual components, is described. Drill chucks of this type have proven to be extremely successful in practice.
In the conventional art, however, greater demands are imposed on the interlocking system by the higher power of modern drilling machines, and it must also be ensured that the interlocking system remains closed even if very strong vibrations occur during percussion drilling or when operating a screw coupler. The abrupt lag of the spindle when using a spindle stop should also not be able to loosen the interlocking system.
It is therefore an object of the invention to further improve the proven and perfected drill chuck of the type mentioned at the outset.
The arrangement of a dampener between the adjusting sleeve and the component adjacent thereto radially to the inside achieves the fact that the torque needed to deactivate the interlocking device is increased, so that the occurring vibrations are not sufficient to disengage the locking member from the locking toothings.
The dampener can be arranged between the adjusting sleeve and an intermediate sleeve, since, in the case that the dampener is arranged between the adjusting sleeve and the chuck body, an increased torque is needed continuously to adjust the clamping jaws, and, in particular, the achievable clamping force may thus be impaired.
The dampener can be arranged in a groove running in the circumferential direction of the adjusting sleeve, the dampener being accommodated in this groove at a distance from a base thereof.
The drill chuck is easier to mount if the dampener is arranged in the region of the largest diameter of the component adjacent to the adjusting sleeve radially to the inside.
It has proven to be successful if the dampener is formed by an elastic O ring, so that the dampener may also be easily pretensioned, due to the expansion in the groove suitably designed for this purpose by means of the component situated radially to the inside.
The design of the groove is simplified, in particular, if the adjusting sleeve is provided with a two-part design, formed from an outer metallic grip sleeve and an inner plastic sleeve, which provides a radial cam and end stops and in which the groove is formed.
The features and combinations of features mentioned in the description above as well as the features and combination of features mentioned below in the description of the figures and/or illustrated in the figures alone may be used not only in the particular combination given but also in other combinations or alone without departing from the scope of the invention. Embodiments are thus also to be viewed as covered and disclosed by the invention which are not explicitly illustrated in the figures or explained but which arise from the explained designed and may be generated, due to separate combinations of features.
The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given hereinbelow and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus, are not limitive of the present invention, and wherein:
It is apparent from
In the examples illustrated in the drawing, threaded ring 5 is formed as an undivided threaded ring having an opening width which is greater than the diameter of the axially front section of chuck body 2, a locking sleeve 10 being rotatably fixedly fastened in an axially immovable manner on the axially front section of chuck body 2, which carries circle 6 of locking recesses and is used to axially secure threaded ring 5. However, threaded ring 5 may also be designed as a divided threaded ring 5, and circle 6 of locking recesses may be formed directly on chuck body 2, as is also disclosed in EP 0 710 518 A2.
Locking sleeve 10 itself has a cylindrical front body section 11 as well as a rear conical section 12, which is provided for contact with an axially front annular band 13 of threaded ring 5. Locking sleeve 10 furthermore has a central section 14 running in parallel to the chuck axis, which carries circle 6 of locking recesses and is connected to front body section 11 and conical section 12 via section edges 15 running in parallel to guide receptacles 3.
It is also apparent from
Alternatively, it is also possible that dampener 24 is arranged between adjusting sleeve 9 and chuck body 2.
It is apparent from
If adjusting sleeve 9 is provided with a two-part design, formed from an outer metallic grip sleeve 16, which is used to apply a high clamping force, and an inner plastic sleeve 17 providing radial cam 19 and end stops 21, it is easily possible to also provide groove 20 when forming the complex inner surface of plastic sleeve 17.
The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are to be included within the scope of the following claims.
