- 19. The drill tool of claim 18 wherein the at least one second insert is coated with titanium aluminum nitride, diamond, or like material.
- 20. The drill tool of claim 1 wherein at least one coolant hole is provided to permit external coolant to contact a cutting surface of said at least one second insert.
- 21. The drill tool of claim 1 wherein said at least one second insert is located on an independent cartridge on said holder, wherein a plurality of said cartridges are adapted to permit radial and axial adjustment of said at least one second insert position relative to said holder and said first cutting insert.
- 22. The drill tool of claim 1 wherein a combination of said first drilling insert with at least two second inserts engaged in a work piece provides a stabilized drill system during a drilling operation.
- 23. The drill tool of claim 1 wherein at least one said cutting surface of said at least one second drilling insert has at least one cutting surface producing at least on type of material chip.
- 24. The drill tool of claim 23 wherein said edges are a seal form surface and a spot face surface.
- 25. The drill tool of claim 24 wherein said seal form surface enters a hole at an angle adjacent to a center line of said drilling tool.
- 26. The drill tool of claim 24 wherein said spot face surface approaches a material to be drilled at substantially 90° to a centerline of said drilling tool.
- 27. A drilling tool comprising,
a tool holder having a rotational axis; a first drilling insert having cutting surfaces on a first side, and a mounting surface on a second side thereof, the first drill insert being selectively mounted along the rotational axis of the holder; at least two second drilling inserts, each having at least one predetermined cutting surface portion and a mounting portion, the at least two second drilling inserts being selectively mounted with the holder at a predetermined outboard location from the rotational axis of the holder, wherein the at least two second drilling inserts comprises first and second portions which engage and machine a work piece in a drilling operation to form a spot face and a seal form.
- 28. A drilling tool comprising:
a tool having a first cutting portion with cutting surfaces for machining a port hole and at least one second cutting portion having cutting surfaces for machining a port form adjacent to the port hole, wherein the at least one second cutting portion comprises first and second cutting surfaces which engage and machine a work piece in a drilling operation to form a hydraulic port seal.
