Claims
- 1. A system for draining fluids from a portion of the body, said system comprising:
- a container for receiving the fluids, said container including a fluid collection chamber including an entrance port for admitting fluids from the body to said chamber, and said chamber having a center of gravity on a horizontal plane; and an inclined, liquid conduit from said fluid collection chamber, said conduit including a lowermost entrance portion in said chamber disposed at said center of gravity.
- 2. A system for draining fluids from a portion of the body, said system comprising:
- a container for receiving the fluids, said container including a fluid collection chamber including an entrance port for admitting fluids from the body to said chamber, and said chamber having a center of gravity on a horizontal plane; and a conduit from said fluid collection chamber, said conduit including a lowermost entrance portion in said chamber disposed at said center of gravity wherein said fluid collection chamber has a prismatic configuration defined by opposing parallel top and bottom walls, opposing parallel front and rear walls extending between said top and bottom walls, and opposing parallel side walls connecting said front and rear walls and said top and bottom walls, and wherein the lowermost entrance portion is located a distance d from said top wall to enable the collection of the maximum amount of fluid without spillage through said lowermost entrance portion when said fluid collection chamber is rotated about an axis perpendicular to said side walls by a maximum angle before spillage according to the following calculation: ##EQU2## where 9.degree.-.theta.= said maximum angle of rotation before spillage about an axis perpendicular to said side walls
- w=distance between said side walls
- d=distance from said top wall to said entrance port for enabling the maximum amount of rotation without spillage through said entrance port.
- 3. A system for draining fluids from a portion of the body, said system comprising:
- a container for receiving the fluids, said container including a fluid collection chamber including an entrance port for admitting fluids from the body to said chamber, and said chamber having a center of gravity on a horizontal plane; and a conduit from said fluid collection chamber, said conduit including a lowermost entrance portion in said chamber disposed at said center of gravity wherein said fluid collection chamber is defined by surfaces symmetrical about a first plane containing a central vertical axis and wherein said lowermost entrance portion is located a distance d from the juncture of the uppermost one of said surfaces and said vertical axis to enable the collection of the maximum amount of fluid without spillage through said lowermost entrance portion when said chamber is rotated about a first axis perpendicular to said vertical axis by a maximum angle before spillage according to the flowing calculation: ##EQU3## where 9.degree.-.theta.= said maximum angle of rotation before spillage about a first axis perpendicular to said vertical axis
- w=distance between the closest walls defining said chamber taken on a line perpendicular to said vertical axis at the location of said lowermost entrance portion
- d=distance along said vertical axis from the juncture of the uppermost surface defining said chamber and said vertical axis, to said lowermost entrance portion.
