Claims
- 1. A dry powder inhaler comprising:a dispersion chamber; at least one bead in the dispersion chamber, wherein the at least one bead does not comprise a drug particle; a mouthpiece connecting into the dispersion chamber via at least one outlet opening; and an inlet having at least one inlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber, with the inlet not tangent to the dispersion chamber.
- 2. The inhaler of claim 1 where the inlet is a scoop inlet.
- 3. The inhaler of claim 1 where the inlet is a chord inlet.
- 4. The inhaler of claim 1 where the inlet connects into the dispersion chamber at an angle.
- 5. The inhaler of claim 1 further including an elongated exit tube extending from the dispersion chamber into the mouthpiece.
- 6. The inhaler of claim 1 where the outlet opening is centered with the dispersion chamber.
- 7. The inhaler of claim 1 where the inlet has a cross section shape selected from the group consisting of round, oval, elliptical, and equilateral quadrilateral with radiuses corners.
- 8. A dry powder inhaler comprising:a dispersion chamber having walls forming a bead race; at least one bead in the dispersion chamber, wherein the at least one bead does not comprise a drug particle; a mouthpiece with at least one outlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber; and a chord inlet having at least one inlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber, with the inlet intersecting the bead race along a chord of the dispersion chamber, and with the chord inlet not tangent to the bead race.
- 9. A dry powder inhaler comprising:a dispersion chamber containing a bead race having an outer wall; at least one bead in the dispersion chamber, wherein the at least one bead does not comprise a drug particle; a mouthpiece with at least one outlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber; and an inlet having at least one inlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber, with the inlet having an outer inlet wall positioned to the outside of a line tangent to the bead race.
- 10. A dry powder inhaler comprising:a dispersion chamber having a top wall and a bottom wall; at least one bead in the dispersion chamber; a mouthpiece connecting into the dispersion chamber via at least one outlet opening; a chamber ring on the top wall, surrounding the outlet opening, and projecting towards the bottom wall, to prevent the at least one bead from moving into the outlet opening; and an inlet having at least one inlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber, with the inlet not tangent to the dispersion chamber.
- 11. A dry powder inhaler comprising:a dispersion chamber having a top wall and a bottom wall; at least one bead in the dispersion chamber; a mouthpiece connecting into the dispersion chamber via at least one outlet opening; a central land area extending from the bottom wall towards the top wall of the dispersion chamber, and substantially aligned below the outlet opening, to prevent the at least one bead from moving into the outlet opening; and an inlet having at least one inlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber, with the inlet not tangent to the dispersion chamber.
- 12. A dry powder inhaler comprising:a dispersion chamber; at least one bead moveable within the dispersion chamber for aiding in dispersing dry powder drug particles in the dispersion chamber; a mouthpiece connecting into the dispersion chamber via at least one outlet opening, with the dispersion chamber configured to prevent the at least one bead from moving into the outlet opening; and an inlet having at least one inlet opening connecting into the dispersion chamber, with the inlet not tangent to the dispersion chamber.
