Claims
- 1. A process for recovering halogenated hydrocarbons comprising:
- a. treating a mixture of at least one halogenated hydrocarbon, water and hydrochloric acid to remove a major amount of aid hydrochloric acid and to produce a stream comprising said halogenated hydrocarbon, water and a minor amount of said hydrochloric acid;
- b. treating said stream produced in step (a) to produce a stream comprising said halogenated hydrocarbon, less than about 1% water and less than about 1000 ppm hydrochloric acid and;
- c. intimately contacting said stream produced in step (b) with an effective drying amount of an essentially anhydrous drying agent which comprises (i) a metal sulfate, chloride or perchlorate or (ii) phosphorous pentoxide without concomitantly removing the hydrochloric acid.
