The disclosure relates to drywall installation tools and more particularly pertains to a new drywall installation tool for one man ceiling drywall installation.
The prior art relates to drywall installation tools which are typically large devices including a lift or telescoping pole. These tools are typically of fixed dimension and do nothing to aid in the installation process other than supporting drywall.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a main panel having a main top side, a main bottom side, a main front edge, a main back edge, a main left edge, and a main right edge. The main left edge and the main right edge has a channel extending therethrough. The main top side has a pole aperture extending through the main bottom side. The pole aperture is configured to receive a tip of a paint pole. A pair of wing panels is slidably coupled within the channel of the main left edge and the main right edge. A distance between an outer edge of each wing panel defines an adjustable length of the apparatus.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A pair of wing panels 42 is coupled to the main panel 12. The pair of wing panels 42 is slidably coupled within the channel 26 of the main left edge 22 and the main right edge 24. A distance between an outer edge 44 of each wing panel defines an adjustable length 46 of the apparatus. Each wing panel 42 may have a locking button 48 to selectively engage with the pair of outer apertures 38 and the pair of inner apertures 40. Each locking button 48 may be spring-loaded or flexibly coupled to the wing panel 42 to depress within the channel 26 until aligned with the locking aperture 36. A wing length 50 of each wing panel may be equal to ⅔ of a main length 52 of the main panel. The main length 52 is ideally 24″ and the wing length 50 is ideally 16″. With the locking button 48 of each wing panel engaged with the pair of outer apertures 38, ¾ of the wing length 50 extends from the main left edge 22 and the main right edge 24. The adjustable length 46 is thus ideally four feet in this position. Each locking aperture 36 and each locking button 48 may be square to prevent rotational movement of the wing panels 42. An inner edge 54 of each wing panel may have a semicircular notch 56 to accommodate the paint pole 32.
A plurality of rulers 58 may be coupled to the main panel 12 and each wing panel 42. The plurality of rulers 58 is coupled adjacent a wing front edge 60 and a wing back edge 62 of each wing panel and proximal to, but spaced apart from, the main front edge 18 and the main back edge 20. At least one level 64 is coupled to the main panel 12 within the main top side 14. There may be one level 64 coupled between the ruler 58 proximal the main front edge 18 and the main right edge 24 and one level 64 coupled between the ruler 58 proximal the main back edge 20 and the main left edge 22.
In use, the wing panels 42 are inserted into the channel 26 with the locking button 48 engaging either the pair of outer apertures 38 or the pair of inner apertures 40. The tip 30 of the paint pole is engaged within the pole aperture 26 and a drywall panel is placed on the main bottom side 16 and the wing panels 42 to be lifted to the ceiling for installation. The rulers 58 and the levels 64 are used to properly align the drywall panel.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
