Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to the field of dual comfort bedsheet devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to an improved sheet device that provides users with an improved bed sheet that is constructed of two separate halves sewn together. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.

BACKGROUND

By way of background, this invention relates to improvements in dual comfort bedsheet devices. Generally, partners who sleep in the same bed may have different temperature preferences when it comes to using sheets. One person may prefer to be warm and constantly sleep under sheets while a second person may want to sleep on top of the sheets to remain cool. An uncomfortable sleeping partner constantly tossing and turning, pulling on sheets, etc., can also be frustrating and lead to poor quality sleep for both people.

Accordingly, it is well known and understood, that two occupants of a bed can oftentimes have different warmth requirements. Prior art blanket and sheet construction comprises multiple panels having different and interchangeable warmth features. While such constructions have worked quite capably for some users, most users would prefer an easier and more efficient way of appeasing people of different temperature preferences.

Thus, conventional sheets are manufactured of a single material and do not provide multiple users with a way to increase the warmth of one person, while also allowing the other person to remain cool while sleeping. This invention relates to a new and improved dual comfort bedsheet device having two separate halves sewn together. Each half features a different material which keeps a user cool or warm throughout the night.

Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a dual comfort bedsheet device that provides users with an improved bedsheet constructed of two separate halves sewn together. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a dual comfort bedsheet device that features a different material for each half, to keep the user cool or warm throughout the night. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a dual comfort bedsheet device that allows sleeping partners to utilize the same sheet without disturbing one another with different temperature preferences. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a device that utilizes various materials to construct the different halves, such as cotton, flannel, satin, etc., ensuring the user can maintain an optimal, comfortable experience while sleeping. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a dual comfort bedsheet device that creates the perfect sleeping experience for both partners without having to compromise about the same sheet to sleep with. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a dual comfort bedsheet device that is available in any size to accommodate any type of bed.

The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a dual comfort bedsheet device. The device comprises a body component comprised of two separate halves secured together. One half can be made of regular cotton and the other half can be made of flannel. Alternative materials may also be used to optimize comfort for sleeping partners utilizing the same sheet. Thus, the bedsheet device will allow sleeping partners to have access to both warm and cool material when sleeping.

Further, the bedsheet device will be constructed, such that either side of the bedsheet device may be used for either side of the bed. Thus, the top and bottom edges will be sewn to have the same look, regardless of the materials used for temperature control. This allows the bedsheet device to be reversible, allowing a user to pick which material they want to sleep with. Further, pillowcases would also be available to match the side of the bedsheet device the pillow will be used on. Accordingly, sleeping partners can sleep under their chosen bedsheet style to maintain comfort throughout the night without disturbing their partner.

In this manner, the dual comfort bedsheet device of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides users with a device that comprises two separate halves sewn together, each featuring a different material. The device is an improved bedsheet device which fits most standard mattresses and can be manufactured in multiple designs and styles based on a users' preferences and bedroom décor.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

Accordingly, sleeping partners can sleep under their chosen bedsheet style to maintain comfort throughout the night without disturbing their partner.

Generally, the dual comfort bedsheet device is illustrated in use on a conventional bed, which includes the usual mattress and spring assembly, supporting legs, headboard, and other structural features normally employed in a bed construction.

In one embodiment, the bedsheet device comprises a body component which is an enlarged unitary one-piece construction of a size to properly fit the bed with the edges thereof depending over the side edges of the mattress and spring assembly, the foot end depending over the foot end of the mattress and spring assembly, and the head end terminating in a spaced relation to the headboard. The shape and size of the body component may vary in accordance with the shape and size of the bed, with it being a requirement that the bedsheet device serves to cover two occupants of the bed.

Furthermore, the body component is a flat portion on which a user rests or is used as a cover. The body component has front and back surface areas and defines a top end positioned by the headboard, and a bottom end positioned at the bottom of the bed. The body component can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user. Typically, the body component is a single piece construction of a base material but can be any suitable construction as is known in the art, such as multi-layers or sewn on extensions, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user.

As is well known, two occupants of a bed may, and frequently do, have different requirements of warmth in order for them both to sleep comfortably. The dual comfort bedsheet device of the present invention satisfies the different warmth requirement by providing two separate halves, with one half generally covering one occupant and the other half generally covering the other occupant of the bed. Further, the separate halves have a unitary construction with each other and have different warmth characteristics.

In one embodiment, the dual comfort bedsheet device comprises a body component comprising two separate halves, typically a right half and a left half, wherein each half is composed of a different material to provide separate temperature or comfort qualities within the same bedsheet shared by two occupants of a bed. The two separate halves of the body component are joined by a seam running down the center of the body component.

Specifically, the body component is divided longitudinally in half, along a line, running along its respective length. In this embodiment, one of the halves is composed substantially of a flannel composition or other suitable heavy weight material, while the other half is composed substantially of a cotton-polyester blend material or other suitable lighter weight material. Although composed of different materials in the two halves, both halves are color-coordinated with each other, and with any pillowcases to be used.

In one embodiment, each of the pillowcases are either a flannel or a cotton-polyester blend, to coordinate with the bedsheet device, as well. In such manner, the users can then decide whether the warmth characteristics of the flannel half is more preferable than the cotton-polyester blend half and can position the bedsheet device according to individual preference. The two separate halves may then be joined together via any suitable securing means as is known in the art, such as by sewing, snaps, zippers, adhesive, etc.

In another embodiment, the pillowcases would be double sided, with one side composed of the first half material and the other side composed of the second half material. In yet another embodiment, the pillowcases would be manufactured of only one material and designed to match the side of the bedsheet device the pillow will be used on.

In one embodiment, the body component may be supplied with a designation of the warmth characteristics of the two halves, so that a partition may identify the two halves and the material used. Also, the peripheral edge of the body component may be finished in a conventional manner and any decorative pattern may be incorporated into the body component when it is manufactured.

In one embodiment, the two separate halves are composed of one-half Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and one-half Percale (50% Polyester, 50% Cotton). However, the two separate halves can be composed of any combination of materials that provide separate comfort or temperature zones. For example, the two separate halves and pillowcases, while retaining the above configuration, may utilize the following material combinations: Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and Satin (100% Polyester Satin); Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and Flannelette; Satin (100% Polyester satin) and Percale (50% Polyester, 50% Cotton); Flannelette and Percale (50% Polyester, 50% Cotton); or Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and Satin Charmeuse, etc.; or any other suitable combination of materials as is known in the art.

In one embodiment, the bedsheet device will be constructed, such that either side of the bedsheet device may be used for either side of the bed. Specifically, the body component with the two separate halves is manufactured such that the top, bottom, and side edges are sewn to have the same look, regardless of the materials used for temperature control. Thus, the front of the body component looks the same as the back of the body component. This allows the bedsheet device to be reversible, allowing a user to pick which material they want to sleep with. Thus, users can choose which side of the bedsheet device to sleep under to maintain comfort throughout the night, without disturbing their partner.

In use, the dual comfort bedsheet device is positioned on a conventional mattress of a bed, thereby creating a sleeping area comprising one half of the bed in which the material of the bedsheet used differs from the material used on the other half of the bed. Pillows are simply selected by the occupant of the bed either to match the bedsheet used or based on material preference.

In another embodiment, the body component is multi-layered and includes at least one bottom layer and at least one upper layer.

Additionally, the dual comfort bedsheet device is also available in multiple sizes and styles to accommodate any type of bed.

In another embodiment, the dual comfort bedsheet device is a sheet, a blanket, a comforter, a duvet, or any other suitable covering as is known in the art.

In one embodiment, the dual comfort bedsheet device is manufactured of a combination of fleece, flannel, percale, satin, cotton, polyester, blended fabrics, or any other suitable combination of materials as is known in the art. The dual comfort bedsheet device can be manufactured in different thicknesses and weights, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user.

Also, the dual comfort bedsheet device may be manufactured in different styles, patterns, and designs, and can include suitable ornamental designs and decorations, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user and/or the décor of the users' bedroom. Further, the outer edges may also include additional suitable material, such as fabric, embroidery, ribbons, lace, edging, seams, or other desirable material in order to further enhance the appearance of the bedsheet and also to prevent tearing and fraying which may result from repeated use and washing.

In yet another embodiment, the dual comfort bedsheet device comprises a plurality of indicia.

In yet another embodiment, a method of maintaining different temperature preferences with one bedsheet is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a dual comfort bedsheet device comprising a body component with two separate halves of two different material secured together. The method also comprises choosing a specific style and size of the dual comfort bedsheet device, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. Further, the method comprises determining which user wants which half of the device while sleeping. The method also comprises positioning the dual comfort bedsheet device on a bed with the warmer half on the side of the bed where the user wants to be warmer while sleeping. The method also comprises positioning the dual comfort bedsheet device on the bed with the cooler half on the side of the bed where the user wants to be cooler while sleeping. Finally, the method comprises utilizing the device while sleeping and maintaining different temperature preferences.

As shown in FIG. 2, the bedsheet device 100 comprises a body component 102 which is an enlarged unitary one-piece construction of a size to properly fit the bed 200 with the edges 208 thereof depending over the side edges 210 of the mattress and spring assembly 202, the foot end 212 depending over the foot end 214 of the mattress and spring assembly 202, and the head end 216 terminating in a spaced relation to the headboard 206. The shape and size of the body component 102 may vary in accordance with the shape and size of the bed 200, with it being a requirement that the bedsheet device 100 serves to cover two occupants 106 of the bed 200.

Furthermore, the body component 102 is a flat portion on which a user rests or is used as a cover. The body component 102 has front 218 and back 220 surface areas and defines a top end (i.e., head end 216) positioned by the headboard 206 and a bottom end (i.e., foot end 212) positioned at the bottom 214 of the bed 200. The body component 102 can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user. Typically, the body component 102 is a single piece construction of a base material but can be any suitable construction as is known in the art, such as multi-layers or sewn on extensions, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user.

As is well known, the two occupants 106 of a bed 200 may, and frequently do, have different requirements of warmth in order for them both to sleep comfortably. The dual comfort bedsheet device 100 of the present invention satisfies the different warmth requirement by providing two separate halves 104, with one half generally covering one occupant 106 and the other half generally covering the other occupant 106 of the bed 200. Further, the separate halves 104 have a unitary construction with each other and have different warmth characteristics (i.e., one of the halves contains warm material 108 and the other half contains cool material 110).

Accordingly, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 comprises a body component 102 comprising two separate halves 104, typically a right half 112 and a left half 114, wherein each half 112 and 114 is composed of a different material to provide separate temperature or comfort qualities within the same bedsheet shared by two occupants 106 of a bed 200. The two separate halves 104 of the body component 102 are joined by a seam 222 running down the center 224 of the body component 102.

Specifically, the body component 102 is divided longitudinally in half, along a center line 224, running along its respective length. In this embodiment, one of the halves 114 is composed substantially of a flannel composition or other suitable heavy weight material, while the other half 112 is composed substantially of a cotton-polyester blend material or other suitable lighter weight material. Although composed of different materials in the two halves 112 and 114, both halves 104 are color-coordinated with each other and with any pillowcases 226 to be used.

In one embodiment, each of the pillowcases 226 are either a flannel or a cotton-polyester blend to coordinate with the bedsheet device 100, as well. In such manner, the user 106 can then decide whether the warmth characteristics of the flannel half 114 is more preferable, than the cotton-polyester blend half 112, and can position the bedsheet device 100 according to individual preference. The two separate halves 104 may then be joined together via any suitable securing means 222 as is known in the art, such as by sewing, snaps, zippers, adhesive, etc., depending on the needs and/or wants of a user.

In another embodiment, the pillowcases 226 would be double sided, with one side 228 composed of the first half material 112 and the other side 230 composed of the second half material 114. In yet another embodiment, the pillowcases 226 would be manufactured of only one material and designed to match the side 112 or 114 of the bedsheet device 100 the pillow will be used on.

Additionally, the body component 102 may be supplied with a designation 232 of the warmth characteristics of the two halves 112 and 114, so that a partition (i.e., seam 222) may identify the two halves 104 and the material used. Also, the peripheral edge 208 of the body component 102 may be finished in a conventional manner and any decorative pattern may be incorporated into the body component 102 when it is manufactured.

In one embodiment, the two separate halves 104 are composed of one-half Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and one-half Percale (50% Polyester, 50% Cotton). However, the two separate halves 104 can be composed of any combination of materials that provide separate comfort or temperature zones. For example, the two separate halves 104 and pillowcases 226, while retaining the above configuration, may utilize the following material combinations: Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and Satin (100% Polyester Satin); Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and Flannelette; Satin (100% Polyester satin) and Percale (50% Polyester, 50% Cotton); Flannelette and Percale (50% Polyester, 50% Cotton); or Polar Fleece (100% Polyester) and Satin Charmeuse, etc., or any other suitable combination of materials as is known in the art.

As shown in FIGS. 3-4, the bedsheet device 100 will be constructed, such that either side of the bedsheet device 100 may be used for either side of the bed 200. Specifically, the body component 102 with the two separate halves 104 is manufactured, such that the top, bottom, and side edges are sewn to have the same look, regardless of the materials used for temperature control. Thus, the front 218 of the body component 102 looks the same as the back 220 of the body component 102. This allows the bedsheet device 100 to be reversible, allowing a user to pick which material they want to sleep with. Thus, users can choose which side 218 or 220 of the bedsheet device 100 to sleep under to maintain comfort throughout the night without disturbing their partner 106.

In use, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 is positioned on a conventional mattress 202 of a bed 200, thereby creating a sleeping area comprising one half of the bed 200, in which the material of the bedsheet device 100 used on one half of the bed 200 differs from the material used on the other half of the bed 200. Pillows are simply selected by the occupant 106 of the bed 200 either to match the bedsheet device 100 used or based on material preference.

In another embodiment, the body component 102 is multi-layered and includes at least one bottom layer and at least one upper layer (not shown). Any suitable number of layers can be utilized as is known in the art, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. Additionally, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 is also available in multiple sizes and styles to accommodate any type of bed 200 or mattress 202.

As shown in FIG. 5, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 is a sheet, a blanket, a comforter, a duvet, or any other suitable covering as is known in the art, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. Further, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 is manufactured of a combination of fleece, flannel, percale, satin, cotton, polyester, blended fabrics, or any other suitable combination of materials as is known in the art. The dual comfort bedsheet device 100 can be manufactured in different thicknesses and weights, depending on the wants and/or needs of a user.

Also, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 may be manufactured in different styles, patterns, and designs, and can include suitable ornamental designs and decorations, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user and/or the décor of the users' bedroom. Further, the outer edges 208 may also include additional suitable material, such as fabric, embroidery, ribbons, lace, edging, seams, or other desirable material in order to further enhance the appearance of the bedsheet device 100 and also to prevent tearing and fraying which may result from repeated use and washing.

In yet another embodiment, the dual comfort bedsheet device 100 comprises a plurality of indicia 500. The body component 102 of the device 100 may include advertising, trademark, other letters, designs, or characters, printed, painted, stamped, or integrated into the body component 102, or any other indicia 500 as is known in the art. Specifically, any suitable indicia 500 as is known in the art can be included, such as, but not limited to, patterns, logos, emblems, images, symbols, designs, letters, words, characters, animals, advertisements, brands, etc., that may or may not be bedding, bedsheet, or brand related.
