Claims
- 1. A sealing device for sealing a valve channel of a valve bag, the device comprising:
a sheet of flexible material having a first section and a second section at opposed ends of the sheet, wherein the sheet is sufficiently flexible such that the first section is foldable over the second section; a first adhesive underlying at least one section of the sheet; a second adhesive on an upper surface of at least one section of the sheet; and a removable upper protective sheet covering the second adhesive.
- 2. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein a perforated seam is located between the first section and the second section of the sheet.
- 3. The sealing device of claim 2, wherein a portion of the protective sheet is perforated.
- 4. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first adhesive underlies the first and second sections.
- 5. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first adhesive layer is heat activated.
- 6. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first adhesive layer is covered by a removable lower protective sheet.
- 7. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the second adhesive layer has a width substantially similar to a width of one side of a valve channel of a valve bag.
- 8. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first and second sections are substantially equal in surface area.
- 9. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the sealing device is rectangular in shape.
- 10. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first section is adjacent the second section.
- 11. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the sheet further comprises a third section located between the first and second section.
- 12. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first section is larger than the second section.
- 13. The sealing device of claim 1, wherein the first adhesive underlies the first section and the second adhesive covers the upper surface of the second section.
- 14. A sealing device for a valve channel of a valve bag, the device comprising:
two inside sections having a first adhesive coating an inner surface of said inside sections; two outside sections having a second adhesive coating an outer surface of said outer sections; and a removable protective sheet covering the adhesive coating of said outer surface of said outer sections.
- 15. The sealing device of claim 14, wherein the first adhesive is heat activated.
- 16. The sealing device of claim 14, wherein the protective sheet has a perforated seam.
- 17. A sealing device for sealing a valve channel of a valve bag, the device comprising:
a sheet of flexible material having a first section and a second section at opposed ends of the sheet, wherein the sheet is sufficiently flexible such that the first section is foldable over the second section; a first adhesive coating a lower surface of the first section of the sheet; a first removable protective sheet covering the first adhesive; a second adhesive coating a lower surface of the second section of the sheet; and a second removable protective sheet covering the second adhesive.
- 18. The sealing device of claim 17, wherein the second adhesive is heat activated.
- 19. The sealing device of claim 17, wherein the first section is larger than the second section.
- 20. The sealing device of claim 17, wherein the first and second adhesives are the same.
- 21. A valve bag having a tubular body and a valve channel, wherein the improvement includes a sealing device comprising:
a sheet of flexible material having a first section and a second section at opposed ends of the sheet, wherein the sheet is sufficiently flexible such that the first section is foldable over the second section; a first adhesive underlying the sheet, such adhesive securing the backside of the first section to an underside of a top side of the valve channel and the backside of the second section to the upper side of the bottom side of the valve channel; a perforated seam located between the first section and the second section of the sheet and substantially centered in the valve channel; a second adhesive overlaying an upper surface of the first and second sections of the sheet; and a removable upper protective sheet covering the second adhesive; whereby when the protective sheet is removed from the second adhesive on the upper surface of the first and second sections, the top side of the first section is folded over the top side of the second section of the sheet and the first and second sections are pressed together such that the valve channel is sealed by the interaction between the second adhesive on the upper surface of the first section with the second adhesive on second section.
- 22. The valve bag of claim 21, where the first adhesive is heat activated.
- 23. A process of sealing a valve bag comprising the steps of:
(a) removing a filler tube from a valve channel in the valve bag, the valve bag having a tubular body, a valve channel, and a sealing device comprising:
a sheet of flexible material having a first section and a second section at opposed ends of the sheet, wherein the sheet is sufficiently flexible such that the first section is foldable over the second section, a first adhesive underlying the sheet, such adhesive securing the backside of the first section to an underside of a top side of the valve channel and the backside of the second section to the upper side of the bottom side of the valve channel, a perforated seam located between the first section and the second section of the sheet and substantially centered in the valve channel, a second adhesive overlaying an upper surface of the first and second sections of the sheet, and a removable upper protective sheet covering the second adhesive; (b) removing the protective sheet from the second adhesive on the upper surface of the first and second sections; (c) folding the top side of the first section over the top side of the second section; (d) pressing the second adhesive on the top side of the first section against the second adhesive on the top side of the second section to seal the valve channel.
- 24. The process of claim 23, further comprising the step of cleaning the surface of the protective sheet before the protective sheet is removed.
