Claims
- 1. Apparatus for use with a thermal printer of the type having (i) a pair of spaced, rotatable, axially aligned spindles and (ii) a web take-up spool of predetermined length and diameter, said apparatus comprising:
- a cylindrical supply spool having a different length and substantially the same diameter of the take-up spool in a thermal printer of the type described, said supply spool having opposed cylindrical ends adapted to receive a respective one of the spindles of such a thermal printer; and
- a dye donor web wound on said supply spool to form a cylindrical roll, whereby the different lengths of the supply and take-up spools inhibits inadvertent interchange of the supply and take-up spools.
- 2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said opposed ends of sad supply spool have substantially the same diameter and shape.
- 3. Apparatus for use with a thermal printer of the type having (i) a pair of spaced, rotatable, axially aligned spindles and (ii) a web take-up spool of predetermined length and diameter, said apparatus comprising:
- a cylindrical supply spool having a different length and substantially the same diameter of the take-up spool in a thermal printer of the type described, said supply spool having opposed cylindrical ends adapted to receive a respective one of the spindles of such a thermal printer, and there is a correct end-for-end orientation of said supply spool in such a thermal printer and an incorrect end-for-end orientation of said supply spool in such a thermal printer; and
- a dye donor web wound on said supply spool to form a cylindrical roll, such that the different lengths of the supply and take-up spools inhibits inadvertent interchange of the supply and take-up spools, said cylindrical roll being axially shorter than said spool and axially off center of said spool so as to leave a substantially longer portion of the spool extending beyond one end of the roll than extends beyond the other end of the roll.
