Claims
- 1. A process for preparing dyeable fibers, comprising:forming a dyeable composition comprising polyolefin and the reaction product of a functionalized polyolefin and a polyetheramine; extruding the dyeable composition into fibers of from about 1 to about 1500 denier; and contacting the fibers with a dye under conditions effective to dye the fiber.
- 2. The process of claim 1, wherein the functionalized polyolefin is maleated polypropylene.
- 3. The-process of claim 1, wherein the functionalized polyolefin is maleated polypropylene having a maleated anhydride content of from about 1% to about 8% as measured by proton nmr.
- 4. The process of claim 1, wherein the functionalized polyolefin is present in an amount from about 0.1% by weight to about 15% by weight; and wherein the polyetheramine is present in an amount of from about 0.5% by weight to about 25% by weight.
- 5. The process of claim 1, wherein the functionalized polyolefin has a number average molecular weight below about 20,000.
- 6. The process of claim 1, wherein the fiber is from about 1 to about 100 denier.
- 7. The process of claim 1, further comprising forming the fiber into a non-woven article.
- 8. The process of claim 1, further comprising forming the fiber into a woven article.
