Claims
- 1. An apparatus to apply dye to a moving material comprising a frame, means mounting a dye jet gun bar on said frame, means supplying liquid dye to said dye jet gun bar, said gun bar comprising a plurality of gun bar sections forming a plurality of separate dye-receiving chambers extending along the gun bar in end-to-end relation for receiving dye from said liquid dye-supplying means, each section being formed of a pair of mating portions each having a mating face with a dye-receiving cavity therein, and means operatively associated with said gun bar sections to maintain said sections and mating portions thereof in pre-determined position to each other with said cavities in said portions mating to form said chambers, said mating faces defining a plurality of dye-emitting orifices communicating with each dye-receiving chamber for discharge of dye therefrom, and means located adjacent said gun bar to convey material thereby to receive dye from said orifices.
- 2. Apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein the mating face of at least one of said mating portions contains grooves therein extending from said cavity therein to the outer edge of the mating face to form said dye-emitting orifices when mated with the other of said mating portions.
- 3. Apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein said frame includes a Z-shaped bar, one of said portions of each of said gun bar sections being connected to said Z-shaped bar.
- 4. Apparatus as defined in claim 3 wherein said means to maintain said gun bar portions together includes a retaining member connected to the gun bar portion connected to the Z-shaped bar and engaging both the other gun bar portion and said Z-shaped bar.
- 5. Apparatus as defined in claim 4 wherein means are provided to maintain the lateral position of each of the gun bar portions retained against the gun bar portions connected to said Z-shaped bar.
- 6. Apparatus as defined in claim 5 wherein means are operably associated with said gun bar to vary the height, lateral position and tilt of said gun bar sections.
- 7. Apparatus to apply dye to a moving material comprising a dye jet gun bar having a dye-receiving chamber and a row of dye discharge orifices communicating therewith for discharging dye in plural streams onto the material, and means for supplying liquid dye to said chamber of the dye jet gun bar; said gun bar comprising at least a pair of portions having mating faces, the mating face of at least one of said portions having a dye-receiving cavity therein and a plurality of substantially parallel side-by-side grooves extending from said cavity to an edge of said mating face, means for clamping said portions together with their faces in mating relation to form with said cavity and grooves said dye-receiving chamber and said row of dye discharge orifices and means located adjacent said gun bar to convey material thereby to receive dye from said orifices.
- 8. Apparatus as defined in claim 7, wherein said clamping means includes means for exerting a force on said portions to provide a force effect substantially perpendicular and substantially parallel to the plane of their mating faces.
