Claims
- 1. An electronic paintball gun, comprising:
an electronic circuit board; a sensor configured to measure a paintball gun characteristic and to send a signal corresponding to a value of the measured characteristic to the electronic circuit board; and said electronic circuit board configured to compare the measured characteristic value to a desired characteristic value and to adjust one or more parameters of the paintball gun to cause the measured characteristic value to approach the desired characteristic value.
- 2. A paintball gun according to claim 1, wherein the sensor is configured to measure a pressure within a compressed gas storage chamber.
- 3. A paintball gun according to claim 2, wherein the electronic circuit board is adapted to compare the measured chamber pressure with a desired chamber pressure.
- 4. A paintball gun according to claim 1, wherein the electronic circuit board is configured to adjust a dwell setting of the paintball gun.
- 5. A paintball gun according to claim 1, wherein the paintball gun characteristic is dynamically measured and controlled during paintball gun operation in order to maintain consistent shot-to-shot velocities.
- 6. A paintball gun according to claim 1, wherein the sensor is configured to measure a velocity of a paintball exiting the barrel of the paintball gun.
- 7. A paintball gun according to claim 6, wherein the electronic circuit board is configured to compare the measured velocity with a desired velocity range.
- 8. A paintball gun according to claim 7, wherein the electronic circuit board is further configured to adjust one or more parameters of the paintball gun in order to cause the measured velocity to fall within the desired velocity range.
- 9. A paintball gun according to claim 8, wherein the electronic circuit board is configured to adjust a dwell setting to increase the measured velocity.
- 10. A method of dynamically controlling a paintball gun characteristic, said method comprising:
measuring a paintball gun characteristic; comparing a value of the measured characteristic to a desired value; adjusting one or more parameters of the paintball gun to cause the value of the measured characteristic to substantially conform to the desired value.
- 11. A method according to claim 10, wherein the desired value comprises a range of values.
- 12. A method according to claim 10, wherein the measured characteristic is a chamber pressure.
- 13. A method according to claim 12, wherein adjusting one or more parameters of the paintball gun comprises adjusting a dwell setting of the paintball gun to cause the measured chamber pressure to conform to a desired chamber pressure.
- 14. A method according to claim 10, wherein the measured characteristic is a paintball velocity and wherein a chamber pressure is adjusted to cause the measured paintball velocity to conform to a desired paintball velocity.
- 15. A dynamic control circuit for a paintball gun, said circuit comprising:
means for measuring a characteristic of a paintball gun; means for comparing a measured characteristic value to a desired characteristic value; and means for adjusting one or more parameters of the paintball gun to cause the measured characteristic value to substantially conform to the desired characteristic value.
- 16. A dynamic control circuit according to claim 15, wherein the means for measuring comprises a sensor.
- 17. A dynamic control circuit according to claim 15, wherein the means for comparing comprises an electronic circuit board.
- 18. A dynamic control circuit according to claim 15, wherein the means for adjusting comprises an electronic circuit board.
- 19. A dynamic control circuit according to claim 15, wherein the measured characteristic is a pressure.
- 20. A dynamic control circuit according to claim 19, wherein the means for adjusting is configured to control a dwell setting of the paintball gun to cause the measured pressure value to conform to a desired pressure value.
