Abstract

a.. This invention was designed to repair bends and warps in automobles and light duty trucks. And to the best of my knowledge there has never been a truing maching for the removal of bends of wheels designed like this machine ever.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] a. The Eagle Truing Machine has been used for restoring the roundness circumference and the removal of warps in automoble and light duty trucks starting Jul. 23, 1987. It took 3 years prior to that date to perfect the machine performance. After perfection of the machine, my company have repaired over 300.000 wheels in the past 12 years for insurance companys, tire stores, body shops across U.S.A and our local city, Indiana.

BACK GROUND OF INVENTION

[0002] Back ground of the Invention, “Eagle Truing Machine” By Robert E Langford Sr.

[0003] The Eagle Truing Machine was first used for commercial application in Jul. 23, 1987. The First Wheel repaired for money was for American Family Ins company. The Wheel Cost over $500.00, and it was purchased in Germany, and was no longer available.

[0004] The machine proved at that time to there was a grate use for this kind of service. My repairs cost the Insurance company $200.00. I was told by the insurance company it would have cost over $2000.00 dollars for this claim, if our service for wheel repair had not be available, because the would have had to replace all 4 wheels to get a match, and the customer wonted his wheels.

[0005] Prior to Jul. 23 1987, 3 years earlier, is when I got the ideal to repair wheels. It took three years to perfect this machine for commercial use. The Eagle Truing Machine gives the consumer a choice of buying a new wheel or to have there wheel repaired. Prior to July 1987 to the best of my knowledge, all damaged wheels that were aluminum were discarded for scrap.

[0006] After Jul. 23 1987: Robert E Langford Sr D.B.A “Mr Wheels Of Indy” has repaired Over 300.00.000 wheels with The Eagle Truing Machine for, body shop, dealerships, Tire shops, and the general public.

[0008] The Eagle Truing Machine is used every work 5 days a week.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EAGLE TRUING MACHINE.

[0014] a. The Eagle Truing Machine is one of it's kind, I have never seen one like it in the USA, or abroad. At the time I invented this machine there were no one in the USA repairing aluminum wheels. Not even trivial damage, the wheels were throne away. To compare this Eagle Truing Machine to some kind of truing machine would be a bear wheel truing machine that was made to remove bends in steel wheels in the fifties, with a bending tool for lip type damage only.

[0015] b. The Eagle Truing Machine was designed for aluminum wheels, for removal of warps, bends and heavy collision damage . Unlike the old bear truing machine, the Eagle Truing Machine lets the operator remove the bends and warps by the same way the bends were obtained except by the reversal of the bends. This is performed by the way the wheel mounts in the machine. It mounts in the machine the same way it mounts on the vehicle hub, that way when the pressure is applied by the rams at the bent areas “that are powered by hydraulic 10 ton air pumps”, gives the technician all the power needed to remove the bends from the most difficult aluminum or steel wheels and heavy collision damage. The machine is 54 inches long and 58 inches tail and 51½ inches wide. It weights about 400 pounds.

Claims

1. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to remove bends to the back side of wheels starting with 10 inch wheels through 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24 inch wheels. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to remove bends from the front part of wheels on the lip areas of the outer circumference of wheels starting with 10 inch wheels through 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24 inch wheels. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to remove warps from wheels starting with 10 inch wheels through 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24 Inch wheels. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to remove bends pushed downward or upward. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to remove hi spots in wheels. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to remove bends with out every removing the wheel from machine, till all bends are removed and tested for true roundness. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to let the wheel rotate in a complete circumference of the total roundness of the wheel making it possible for areas that are bent to be alignment with precision and accuracy for the removal of any type bend. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed for any kind of bolt pattern, or any size wheels back side center mounting diameter surface. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed for wheels that are 4 inches wide through 6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18 inches wide. The Eagle Truing Machines gauges for checking the precise circumference and the true roundness of a wheel, is designed for checking front lip area and inside lip areas and checking center run out and back side lip areas and back inside flange areas and for warps. The Eagle Truing Machine is designed to restore a wheel back to factory tolerance with precise accuracy.
