The present invention relates to protective ear coverings for use by persons when applying hair treatments.
Dying, relaxing, and perming one's hair are time-sensitive processes, with the outcomes of these processes predicted more precisely as the processes become more efficient.
Hair treatment products used in these processes contain chemicals that can irritate and discolor the skin on contact. These risks increase the longer the products remain in contact with skin, which further necessitates the need for speedy treatment. Therefore, when applying hair treatment products, one must take care to ensure that exposed skin is protected from contact with these products, and effective methods of protection must be applied as efficiently as possible.
Ears are one part of the body particularly susceptible to contact with hair treatment chemicals, and the current methods for protecting the ears is to take care to avoid contact when applying hair treatment products or to apply petroleum jelly to the outer edges of the ears in order to create a barrier between the skin and any contact with the product. Furthermore, petroleum jelly leaves a greasy residue that may be difficult to remove.
What is required is a method of protection that covers the entire ear to prevent contact with any potentially harmful hair treatment products. This method of protection must be easy to apply and easy to remove after treatment application.
The present invention quickly and easily provides coverage with an easily-removable, protective material that covers the entire ear but does not impede precise application of treatment products to the hairline close to the ears.
The current method of using petroleum jelly as a protective barrier for the ears leaves a greasy residue that can be difficult to remove. The present invention eliminates the problem of any residue remaining after the protective covering is removed.
