This application claims the priority benefit of Chinese Patent Application Filing Serial Number CN 201110198328.5, the disclosure of which is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety.
The present disclosure generally relates to the art of sound transmitters, and more particularly, to an earpiece including a sound generator with multiple audio chambers.
In recent years, portable audio playback apparatuses have widely proliferated. The audio playback apparatuses output audio from earphones, for example, and thereby provide the sound to users. For the earphones, various types are available and the taste of earphones often varies from user to user. As an example of the earphones, numbers of earphones, called earplug type (canal type), are commercialized in which an earpiece is attached to a front end of a sound conduit.
A related earpiece generally includes a housing and a sound generator accommodated in the housing. The sound generator includes a diaphragm and a frame for supporting the diaphragm. The frame is divided into two parts by the diaphragm. The two parts are usually called front volume and rear volume. However, the only two volumes limit the bandwidth of the frequency of the audio signals. And the bandwidth of the frequency of the audio signals is restricted in high frequency and low frequency. Intermediate frequency and extra low frequency of the audio signals are lost or are not performed accurately, which affects the sound quality required by the users.
So, it is necessary to provide a new earpiece for solving the problems mentioned above.
Many aspects of the embodiment can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present disclosure. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
While the invention is susceptible of embodiments in many different forms, there is shown in the drawings and will herein be described in detail embodiment of the invention with the understanding that the present disclosure is to be considered as an exemplification of the principles of the invention and is not intended to limit the broad aspect of the invention to the embodiment illustrated.

The first plate 134 includes a bottom 134a for engaging with a part of the frame 131, and a side 134b for engaging with another part of the frame 131. The magnet 135 is positioned on the bottom 134a. The bottom 134a has a central hole, and the magnet 135 also forms a central hole aligned with the central hole of the bottom 134a. The second plate 136 includes a base 136a attached to the magnet 135, and a protrusion 136b extending from the base 136a into the central holes of the magnet 135 and the bottom 134a of the first plate 134. While assembled, the magnet 135 is sandwiched between the bottom 134a of the first plate 134 and the base 136a of the second plate 136, thereby forming a first magnetic gap between the outer surface of the protrusion 136b of the second plate 136 and the inner surface of the magnet 135, and a second magnetic gap between the outer surface of the magnet 135 and the inner surface of the side 134b of the first plate.
The sound generator 13 further includes a first diaphragm 137 supported by the frame 131, a first coil 138 connected with the first diaphragm 137 and partially received in the first magnetic gap, a second diaphragm 139 supported by the frame 131 or the cover 132, and a second coil 140 connected with the second diaphragm and partially received in the second magnetic gap.
The chamber 133 is divided into two parts by the second diaphragm 139. The two parts includes a first chamber 133a and a second chamber 133b. The frame 131 further forms a frame aperture 131 for communicating with the second chamber 133b, and the cover 132 further forms a cover aperture 132a communicating with the first chamber 133a.

The first volume 20a communicates with the outside of the earpiece via the third sound hole 112, and communicates with the first chamber 133a via the cover aperture 132a. The second chamber 133b communicates with the second volume 20b via the frame aperture 131a, and the second volume 20b communicates with the outside of the earpiece via the first sound holes 110. The Third volume 20c communicates with the outside of the earpiece via the second sound hole 111.
By virtue of the configuration of the volume 20 and the chamber 133, the sound waves produced by the second diaphragm 139 corresponding to low frequency signals in the first chamber 133a are transmitted to the first volume 20a via the cover aperture and then to the outside of the earpiece via the third sound hole 112, the sound waves produced by the second diaphragm 139 corresponding to intermediate and low frequency signals in the second chamber 133b are transmitted to the second volume 20b via the frame aperture 131a and then to the outside of the earpiece via the first sound holes 110, the sound waves produced by the first diaphragm 137 corresponding to high frequency signals in the third volume 20c are transmitted to the outside of the earpiece via the second sound hole 111. The cooperation between the chamber and the volume broads the bandwidth of the frequency response of the earpiece and improve the sound performance accordingly.
While the present invention has been described with reference to a specific embodiment, the description of the invention is illustrative and is not to be construed as limiting the invention. Various of modifications to the present invention can be made to the exemplary embodiment by those skilled in the art without departing from the true spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
