Abstract

A decorative building element for storage-purpose to be used inside the wall in areas with wet floors such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, terraces, balconies, gardens, Turkish baths, and spas and characterized in that; including, —niche body with at least one profile channel, which is large for the corner profiles to be attached and moved easily, and which ensures that the height differences arising from the thickness of the surface coatings and the mortar applied to the coatings are prevented, —waterproofing membrane integrated with the mentioned niche body to wrap around the application wall and provide a complete seal, —the profile suitable for the dimensions of the niche, which allows the profile tiling process to be done easily, without the need to cut the edges of the ceramics at an angle.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention relates to decorative building elements for storage purposes to be used inside the wall in areas with wet floors such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, terraces, balconies, gardens, Turkish baths and spas.

PRIOR ART

The special partitions created inside or on the surface of the wall in order to form a decoration or usage area are called wall niches. Building a niche in the wall is a construction process. Building a niche in a new construction is completed by laying the wall as specified in the project, followed by process of surface coating. In the renovation works, the wall is broken to the desired extent for the niche and then the surface is covered.

Both methods mentioned above are laborious and time consuming. While the wall is being laid, the bottom of the cavity where the niche will be built must be tilted for the flow of water. Also, at the points where the surface coatings such as ceramic, marble etc. intersect at ninety degrees, it is necessary to make an angled cut so that the cross-section of the coating is not visible. If angled cuts are not made, insulation problems and an unpleasant appearance may occur at the intersection points. The process of angled cut is a very sensitive and difficult process since the coating will be made vertically. It requires serious skill and time. However, it is very difficult to apply a profile on the prepared niche. It takes time and skill.

In the Chinese utility model document coded CN209874385U included in the prior art, the assembled integral niche structure is mentioned. The niche described in the aforementioned utility model document cannot be retrofitted as a single piece. The inner surface of the niche consists of tiles. The tiles are attached to each other with hinges. Although waterproof tape is used at the joints, the water leaking from the ceramic leaks over time. However, there is no ready-to-install niche body. Niche applications in the prior art are made by applying insulation on the gap after the necessary space for the niche is created on the wall. With the insulation application, the intersection points are closed with patch pieces for five inner surfaces, eight corners and four edges. Considering the dimensions of the area where the application is made, the mentioned processes are a very laborious and time-consuming.

PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION

The aim of the invention is to obtain a sealed decorative shower niche that will save time in projects that can be installed quickly and easily.

Another aim of the invention is to obtain a shower niche on which the water accumulation is prevented.

The shower niche developed to achieve the mentioned purposes includes;

• • The niche body (1) with at least one profile channel (1.2), which is large enough for the corner profiles (3) to be attached and moved easily, and which ensures that the height differences arising from the thickness of the surface coatings and the mortar applied to the coatings are prevented,
  • Waterproofing membrane (2) integrated with the mentioned niche body (1) to wrap around the application wall and provide a complete seal,
  • The profile (3) suitable for the dimensions of the niche, which allows the profile (3) tiling process to be done easily, without the need to cut the edges of the ceramics at an angle.

Explanation of the Invention

The invention relates to decorative building elements for storage purposes to be used inside the wall in areas with wet floors such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, terraces, balconies, gardens, Turkish baths and spas. Said building elements are known as wall niches.

The shower niche, which is the subject of the invention includes niche body (1) with support element (1.1) and profile channel (1.2), profile (3) with waterproofing membrane (2) and escape spaces (3.1). Said niche body (1) is positioned in the wall space (4) that is opened or left on the wall surface.

In the niche body (1), there is a profile channel (1.2) in which the corner profiles (3) can be easily attached, which prevents the height differences arising from the thickness of the mortar applied to the surface coatings, and is large enough for the said profiles (3) to move easily inside. Said profile channels (1.2) are accompanied by four profiles (3) which are prepared by being cut in niche's size. The edge profiles (3) easily pass into the said profile channels (1.2), allowing the profile (3) tiling process to be carried out easily without the need to cut the edges of the ceramics at an angle.

In order to apply the ready-made shower niche, which is the subject of the invention, to the wall, the required wall space (4) must be opened in the application area. Afterwards, the assembly process is completed by placing the waterproofing membrane (2) in the opened wall space (4) of the niche body (1). The niche body (1) is adhered to the wall space (4) with various mortars or adhesives. A complete impermeability is ensured by wrapping around the application wall with the waterproofing membrane (2). The waterproofing membrane (2) is integrated with the niche body (1).

After the impermeability is guaranteed, the niche body (1) is ready for the transition to the wall surface coating and profile (3). Special profiles (3) prepared in accordance with the dimensions of the niche are inserted into the profile channels (1.2) in the niche body (1). Ceramic, marble etc. such as surface coatings are started to be applied on the wall. The differences that may occur depending on the thickness of the adhesive mortar during the application can be adjusted easily thanks to the profile channels (1.2).

While the ready-made shower niche, which is the subject of the invention and its body are already waterproof, the issue of impermeability is also guaranteed thanks to the waterproofing membrane (2) built into its edges.

The invention is a method regarding the application of decorative building elements for storage-purpose to be used inside the wall in areas with wet floors such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, terraces, balconies, gardens, Turkish baths and spas and includes the process steps of;

• • Defining the place where the niche body (1) will be built,
  • Emptying the space in the dimensions of the ready niche body (1) on the wall,
  • Placing the finished niche body (1) into the prepared wall space (4),
  • Fixing the niche body (1) to the wall,
  • Adhering the waterproofing membrane (2) in the niche body (1) to the wall,
  • Covering the fixing points with patch pieces made of waterproofing membrane (2),
  • Placing the profiles (3) in the profile channels (1.2) on the niche body (1),
  • The process of surface tiling.

There are support elements (1.1) on the inner surface of the niche body (1). Said support elements (1.1) ensure that the niche body (1) is more robust. In addition, the said support elements (1.1) become references for the profiles (3) to be used on the niche body (1).

The niche body (1) is made of polypropylene (PP), polyurethane (PU) or Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). In alternative applications of the invention, the plastic derivative can also be made of different materials.

The niche body (1) located in the shower niche, which is the subject of the invention, is used for storage purposes. There is an inclined surface (1.3) at the bottom of the niche body (1) used for storage. With the inclined surface (1.3), possible water puddles on the niche body (1) are prevented. The inclination of the said inclined surface (1.3) is shown with the “α°” sign on FIG. 5. Angle α° is in the range of 0.1-5. In the preferred application of the invention, the angle α° is 1.5°.

A method for application of decorative building elements of claim 10 for storage-purpose to be used inside the wall in areas with wet floors such as kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, terraces, balconies, gardens, Turkish baths, and spa including the process steps of: defining the place where the niche body will be built, emptying the space in the dimensions of the ready niche body on the wall,placing the finished niche body into the prepared wall space, fixing the niche body to the wall,adhering the waterproofing membrane in the niche body to the wall,placing the profiles in the profile channels on the niche body, andthe process of surface tiling.

12. The decorative building element of claim 10, wherein the profile includes at least one escape space that allows the adjustment of the differences that may occur due to the thickness difference of the surface coatings and the thickness of the adhesive mortar during the application.

13. The decorative building element of claim 10, wherein the niche body includes at least one support element that makes the said niche body more robust and durable.

14. The decorative building element of claim 10, wherein the niche body includes inclined surface.

15. The decorative building element of claim 14 wherein the inclined surface has a slope of 0.1-5°.

17. The decorative building element of claim 10 including a waterproofing membrane integrated into the niche body, which provides waterproofing by overflowing the edges of the application area since its dimensions are larger than the size of the niche.
