- (iii) an intermediate bag engaging element extending forwardly from the front face of the intermediate portion, the intermediate bag engaging element having a shaft, a proximal end and a distal end;
- (iv) an end bag engaging element extending forwardly from the front face of each of the end portions, the end bag engaging elements each having a shaft, a proximal end and a distal end;
- (v) an intermediate bag rearward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the proximal end of the intermediate bag engaging element;
- (vi) an intermediate bag forward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the distal end of the intermediate bag engaging element;
- (vii) an end bag rearward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the proximal end of the end bag engaging element; and
- (viii) an end bag forward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the distal end of the end bag engaging element;
- wherein the forward stops of the end bag engaging elements extend forwardly more than the forward stop of the intermediate bag engaging element, and wherein the rearward stops of the end bag engaging elements extend forwardly more than the rearward stop of the intermediate bag engaging element.
- 2. The bag dispenser of claim 1, further comprising:
- a) a second bag supporting member;
- b) means for removably attaching the second bag supporting member to the mounting base at a location laterally spaced from the first bag supporting member; and
- c) third bag engaging elements extending from the second bag supporting member, the third bag engaging elements being sized and laterally spaced relative to each other for inserting through the apertures of third merchandise bags to suspend the third merchandise bags from the second bag supporting member.
- 3. The bag dispenser of claim 2, wherein the first bag supporting member is removably attached at a first end of the mounting base, and the second bag supporting member is removably attached at a second end of the mounting base opposite to the first end.
- 4. The bag dispenser of claim 2,
- wherein the second bag supporting member comprises:
- (a) a substantially planar intermediate portion having a front face;
- (b) end portions at opposed ends of the intermediate portion;
- (c) an intermediate bag engaging element extending forwardly from the front face of the intermediate portion, the intermediate bag engaging element having a shaft a Proximal end and a distal end;
- (d) an end bag engaging element extending forwardly from the front face of each of the end portions, the end bag engaging elements each having a shaft a proximal end and a distal end;
- (e) an intermediate bag rearward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the proximal end of the intermediate bag engaging element;
- (f) an intermediate bag forward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the distal end of the intermediate bag engaging element;
- (g) an end bag rearward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the proximal end of the end bag engaging element; and
- (h) an end bag forward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the distal end of the end bag engaging element;
- wherein the forward stops of the end bag engaging elements extend forwardly more than the forward stop of the intermediate bag engaging element, and wherein the rearward stops of the end bag engaging elements extend forwardly more than the rearward stop of the intermediate bag engaging element.
- 5. The bag dispenser of claim 4, wherein the end bag engaging elements and the intermediate bag engaging element of the first and second bag supporting members have a different spacing relative to each other than the bag engaging elements on the mounting base.
- 6. A bag dispenser for supporting and dispensing a pack of bags, each bag having a front panel, a rear panel connected to the front panel, and a plurality of laterally spaced apertures formed through the front panel and the rear panel, the bag dispenser comprising:
- (a) a substantially planar intermediate portion having a front face;
- (b) means for fixedly attaching the intermediate portion to a support surface;
- (c) end portions at opposed ends of the intermediate portion;
- (d) an intermediate bag engaging element extending forwardly from the front face of the intermediate portion, the intermediate bag engaging element having a shaft and a distal end sized for insertion through an aperture of the bags; and
- (e) an end bag engaging element extending forwardly from the end portions, the end bag engaging elements each having a shaft and a distal end sized for insertion through an aperture of the bags;
- (f) an intermediate bag rearward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the proximal end of the intermediate bag engaging element;
- (g) an intermediate bag forward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the distal end of the intermediate bag engaging element;
- (h) an end bag rearward stop for preventing bags from falling off of the proximal end of the end bag engaging element; and

- 8. A method of dispensing bags from a pack of bags comprising the steps of:
- a) selecting the dispenser of claim 6;
- b) selecting a pack of bags having apertures sized and located to fit over the bag engaging elements of the selected dispenser, the bags being configured to be removed one by one from the dispenser, whereby removal of the front bag of the pack opens the next successive bag in the pack without removing the next successive bag from the dispenser;
- c) placing the selected pack of bags on the selected dispenser; and
- d) removing the bags from the dispenser, whereby removal of the front bag of the bag pack opens the next successive bag of the bag pack without removing the next successive bag from the dispenser.
