In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 may be located at the finger joint 150 where the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 are joined to the main body of the glove 101. In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 may be located at any desired location within 0.5 inches of the finger joint 150 in the direction of the opening 120 (i.e., between the finger joint 150 and the opening 120, and within 0.5 inches of the finger joint 150). In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 may be located at any desired location within 1 inch of the finger joint 150 in the direction of the opening 120 (i.e., between the finger joint 150 and the opening 120, and within 1 inche of the finger joint 150). In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 may be located at any desired location within 2 inches of the finger joint 150 in the direction of the opening 120 (i.e., between the finger joint 150 and the opening 120, and within 2 inches of the finger joint 150). In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 may be located at any desired location between the finger joint 150 and the opening 120.
The glove 101 further includes a flap 176 that extends from the first sealable opening 170 across the back of the glove 101 to the opposite side of the glove 101. In one embodiment, the flap 176 of exemplary glove design of
In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 extends from the end of the first sealable opening 170. Thus, opening the first sealable opening 170 and the sealable knuckle opening 175 creates a flap 176 on the glove. In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 and the first sealable opening 170 may be opened and closed using the same fastening device. For example, in one embodiment, a user may utilize a single zipper to open both the first sealable opening 170 and the sealable knuckle opening 175. In one embodiment, a user may utilize a single hook and loop fastener, or any other desired fastening system, to open both the first sealable opening 170 and the sealable knuckle opening 175. In one embodiment, the sealable knuckle opening 175 and the first sealable opening 170 may be opened and closed using a different fastening device or a two separate fastening devices of the same type.
Opening the first sealable opening 170 and the sealable knuckle opening 175 and then folding back flap 176 creates a large opening 120 through which the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 are at least partially visible. In one embodiment, the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 are completely visible when the flap 176 is folded away. Because the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 are either completely or, at least, partially visible, the wearer is able to see where they must insert their fingers into at least fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 of the glove 101. This makes it vastly easier for a child, whom would typically struggle to put on gloves, to put on the glove 101. In one embodiment, each of the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 may be identified with some easily discernible marking on and/or proximate to the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 to further distinguish the finger openings. In one embodiment, each of the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 may be a different color, or differing colors may be used for at least some of the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114. In one embodiment, adjacent fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 may be alternating colors. In one embodiment, each of the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 may be numbered or have a distinguishing shape. In one embodiment, each of the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 may be labeled in some fashion (e.g., index finger, middle finger, ring finger, pinky). In one embodiment, the thumb 115 may include similar marking. Once the wearer has inserted their fingers into the fingers 111, 112, 113, 114 and optionally 115 of the glove 101, the first sealable opening 170 and the sealable knuckle opening 175 may be closed, completing the process of donning the glove 101.
Thus, a glove having improved usability and ease in donning is disclosed. The glove is configured to reveal finger holes during the donning process enabling the wearer to view the finger holes as they put their fingers in them. The glove further optionally includes an extended cuff to improve glove retention and snow penetration resistance. The disclosed glove is not limited to gloves for children. Rather, the glove may be used by individuals that might otherwise have trouble putting on gloves. For example, individuals with medical conditions such as arthritis and/or multiple sclerosis may benefit from a glove providing them a direct path and line of sight to the fingers. In particular, one popular type of arthritis glove applies compression to the wearer's hands. Such arthritis glove may be difficult for some individuals with arthritis to put on. Utilizing the technology of the present invention would ease the process of putting arthritis gloves on for such users. Similarly, older children, adults and others with physical or cognitive challenges may benefit from the disclosed glove. Alternative uses could also be made of the disclosed gloves. For example, rubber kitchen gloves utilizing a waterproof fastening device, golf gloves, work gloves, etc.
