Claims
- 1. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising:
a contiguous open reading frame which encodes a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence at least 95% identical to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:5, 8, 16, 17, 19, or 20, or an amino acid sequence encoded by the cDNA insert of the plasmid deposited with ATCC as Accession Number 98982 or 98983, or a complement of a coding or non-coding strand thereof.
- 2. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleic acid comprises a nucleotide sequence which encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:5, 8, 16, 17, 19, or 20, or an amino acid sequence encoded by the cDNA insert of the plasmid deposited with ATCC as Accession Number 98982 or 98983.
- 3. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 2, wherein the nucleic acid comprises a nucleotide sequence which encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:5.
- 4. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 2, wherein the nucleic acid comprises a nucleotide sequence which encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:8.
- 5. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:4, 6, 7, or 9, or the nucleotide sequence of the cDNA insert of the plasmid deposited with ATCC as Accession Number 98982 or 98983.
- 6. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 5, wherein the nucleic acid comprises the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:4 or 6.
- 7. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 5, wherein the nucleic acid comprises the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:7 or 9.
- 8. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, which encodes a polypeptide comprising an EGF domain.
- 9. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 8, wherein the EGF domain comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:16 or 17.
- 10. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a contiguous open reading frame which encodes a polypeptide comprising at least 50 contiguous amino acid residues of SEQ ID NO:8.
- 11. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 10, wherein the polypeptide is soluble under physiological conditions.
- 12. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 2 comprising a nucleotide sequence which encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:19 or 20.
- 13. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 12, wherein the nucleic acid molecule comprises nucleotides 61-309 of SEQ ID NO:6 or nucleotides 61-282 of SEQ ID NO:9.
- 14. A hybridization probe comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule which hybridizes across its full length to least 200 consecutive nucleotides of the complement of the nucleic acid molecule consisting of SEQ ID NO:6 or 9 under conditions of incubation at 45° C. in 6.0 X SSC followed by washing in 0.2 X SSC, 0.1% SDS at 50° C.
- 15. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a contiguous nucleotide sequence which comprises at least 200 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:6 or 9.
- 16. The nucleic acid molecule as in any one of claims 1, 8, 10, or 14, further comprising a heterologous nucleic acid sequence.
- 17. A vector comprising the nucleic acid molecule as in any one of claims 1, 8, 10, 14, or 15.
- 18. The vector of claim 17, further comprising a nucleic acid sequence which regulates expression of a polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid molecule.
- 19. A vector comprising the nucleic acid molecule of claim 16.
- 20. The vector of claim 19, further comprising a nucleic acid sequence which regulates expression of a polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid molecule.
- 21. A host cell comprising the vector of claim 17.
- 22. A host cell comprising the vector of claim 18.
- 23. A host cell comprising the vector of claim 19.
- 24. A host cell comprising the vector of claim 20.
- 25. A host cell comprising a recombinant nucleic acid molecule, wherein the nucleic acid molecule is as in any one of claims 1, 8, 10, or 14.
- 26. A host cell genetically engineered to express the nucleic acid molecule as in any one of claims 1, 8, 10, or 14.
- 27. The host cell of claim 21 which is a mammalian host cell.
- 28. The host cell of claim 22 which is a mammalian host cell.
- 29. The host cell of claim 23 which is a mammalian host cell.
- 30. The host cell of claim 24 which is a mammalian host cell.
- 31. The host cell of claim 25 which is a mammalian host cell.
- 32. The host cell of claim 26 which is a mammalian host cell.
- 33. A method for expressing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 27 under conditions in which the nucleic acid molecule is expressed.
- 34. A method for expressing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 28 under conditions in which the nucleic acid molecule is expressed.
- 35. A method for expressing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 29 under conditions in which the nucleic acid molecule is expressed.
- 36. A method for expressing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 30 under conditions in which the nucleic acid molecule is expressed.
- 37. A method for expressing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 31 under conditions in which the nucleic acid molecule is expressed.
- 38. A method for expressing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 32 under conditions in which the nucleic acid molecule is expressed.
- 39. A method for detecting the presence of a nucleic acid molecule of claim 1 in a sample, comprising the steps of:
a) contacting the sample with a nucleic acid probe or primer which selectively hybridizes to the nucleic acid molecule; and b) determining whether the nucleic acid probe or primer binds to a nucleic acid molecule in the sample.
- 40. The method of claim 39, wherein the sample comprises mRNA molecules and is contacted with a nucleic acid probe.
