Claims
- 1. An elastomeric mold seal in combination with a molding apparatus having first and second molding members, said first molding member having a seal groove therein, said molding apparatus receiving an article for molding one side thereof having an upstanding rim including a lip, an essentially vertical wall and an essentially horizontal wall, comprising a seal formed from an elastomeric material having an essentially L-shaped cross-section including an enlarged head essentially trapezoidal in cross-section sized to be retained in said seal groove and an elongated leg essentially rectangular in shape and formed integrally with said head having an end depending therefrom, said seal having a recessed portion formed intermediate said leg and said head including an essentially horizontal ledge and an essentially vertical surface, said ledge engaging said lip of said rim, said essentially vertical surface engaging said vertical wall of said rim, and said end of said leg engaging said horizontal wall when said article is being molded in said molding apparatus.
- 2. The elastomeric mold seal as claimed in claim 1, wherein the head has a different hardness value than the hardness value of said leg.
- 3. The elastomeric mold seal as claimed in claim 2, wherein the hardness value of said leg is greater than the hardness value of said head.
- 4. The elastomeric mold seal as claimed in claim 1, wherein said article is a sanitary fixture having a deck portion and a rim extending upwardly therefrom.
- 5. The elastomeric mold seal as claimed in claim 4, wherein said sanitary fixture is a tub.
- 6. The elastomeric mold seal as claimed in claim 1, wherein said end of said leg engages said horizontal wall when said article is being molded.
