Claims
- 1. An electrical connecting device, comprising:
- a first enclosure having at least two wire receiving passageways and at least one first separating means for increasing the creepage path between adjacent passageways, each wire receiving passageway including a plurality of protruding means for squeezing the received wire within the passageway and wherein at least one protruding means has a substantially planar surface against which the received wire is squeezed for retention within the passageway, at least one protruding means including a substantially knife-like edge for squeezing and restricting torque-like movement of the received wire within the passageway; and
- a second enclosure including at least one second separating means for further increasing the creepage path between adjacent passageways.
- 2. An electrical connecting device, comprising:
- a first enclosure having at least two wire receiving passageways and at least one first separating means for increasing the creepage path between adjacent passageways, each wire receiving passageway including a plurality of protruding means for squeezing the received wire within the passageway and wherein at least one protruding means has a substantially planar ramp surface facing the direction of an incoming wire and against which the received wire is squeezed for retention within the passageway; and
- a second enclosure including at least one second separating means for further increasing the creepage path between adjacent passageways.
- 3. The device of claim 2, wherein a portion of each passageway has substantially circular aperture means with at least two of said protruding means extending into said aperture means and positioned diametrically opposite one another.
- 4. An electrical connecting device, comprising:
- a first enclosure having at least two wire receiving generally-cylindrical passageways and at least one first separating means for increasing the creepage path between adjacent passageways, each wire receiving passageway includes a plurality of protruding means for squeezing the received wire within the passageway and wherein at least one protruding means has a substantially planar surface against which the received wire is squeezed for retention within the passageway, at least two of the protruding means being diametrically opposite one another and being also operable for centering the received wire within the passageway; and
- a second enclosure including at least one second separating means for further increasing the creepage path between adjacent passageways.
- 5. The device of claim 4, wherein the first enclosure and second enclosure each include interiors in spatial communication with each other and wherein each passageway extends into the first enclosure interior.
