- 6. The ejector apparatus of claim 1, wherein the ejector body includes a pair of axles formed on opposite sides of the body, the axles defining a pivot axis normal to a longitudinal axis of the socket.
- 7. The ejector apparatus of claim 1, wherein the head is configured to provide a vertical retention force to the daughtercard.
- 8. The ejector apparatus of claim 7, wherein the notch formed in the daughtercard is a semi-circular shaped notch, and the head of the ejector body has a semi-circular portion for engaging the notch.
- 9. The connector of claim 1, wherein the ejector body includes first and second side panels defining a slot therebetween for receiving an end edge of the daughtercard therein, the head being formed integrally with the first side panel.
- 10. An ejector apparatus for an electrical connector socket which is formed to include an elongated slot for receiving a daughtercard, the socket having a plurality of electrical terminals configured to engage a plurality of conductive surfaces formed on the daughtercard for electrically coupling the daughtercard to the socket, the daughtercard having an end edge formed to include a notch therein, the ejector apparatus comprising a body including a head configured to engage the notch formed in the end edge of the daughtercard to provide a first retention force on the daughtercard, at least one spring member for engaging at least one side surface of the daughtercard upon insertion of the daughtercard into the socket to provide a second retention force on the daughtercard, and a surface configured to eject an end of the daughtercard adjacent the ejector out of the elongated slot upon movement of the ejector body relative to the socket.
- 11. The ejector apparatus of claim 10, wherein the ejector body includes first and second side panels defining a slot therebetween for receiving the end edge of the daughtercard therein.
- 12. The ejector apparatus of claim 11, wherein the ejector body includes first and second spring members formed on the first and second side panels, respectively.
- 13. The ejector apparatus of claim 12, wherein the first and second spring members each include a ramp surface configured to engage the daughtercard.
- 14. The ejector apparatus of claim 10, wherein the ejector body is pivotably coupled to an end of the socket, the ejector body being movable from an upright retention position for retaining the daughtercard in the socket to an outwardly pivoted ejection position to force the end edge of the daughtercard adjacent the ejector body out of the elongated slot.
- 15. The ejector apparatus of claim 10, wherein the ejector body includes a pair of axles formed on opposite sides of the body, the axles defining a pivot axis normal to a longitudinal axis of the socket.
- 16. An electrical connector for receiving a daughtercard having an end edge formed to include a notch and having a plurality of conductive surfaces formed thereon, the connector comprising:
- a socket formed to include an elongated slot for receiving the daughtercard and including a plurality of electrical terminals for engaging the plurality of conductive surfaces formed on the daughtercard for electrically coupling the daughtercard to the socket; and
- an ejector coupled to an end of the socket, the ejector including a head configured to engage the notch formed in the end edge of the daughtercard to provide a first retention force on the daughtercard, at least one spring member for engaging at least one side surface of the daughtercard upon insertion of the daughtercard into the socket to provide a second retention force on the daughtercard, and a surface configured to eject an end of the daughtercard adjacent the ejector out of the elongated slot upon movement of the ejector relative to the socket.
