Claims
- 1. An improved electrical connection device for use in an image forming apparatus such as a printer, copy machine or a facsimile machine or a toner cartridge used therein;
whereby a developer roller is supplied a bias voltage through a chain of electrical components; and one electrical component in the chain is said electrical connection device; and wherein said electrical connection device has more functions than just supplying a bias voltage to said rotating developer roller; and by performing more functions, a more efficient image forming apparatus may be made using a shorter toner hopper, a shorter toner cartridge and therefore a shorter image forming apparatus; and with a shorter toner cartridge, it saves shipping costs to endusers; and with a shorter image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus costs less to ship, takes less desk space and has a more competitive edge in the marketplace.
- 2. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller scraper, a developer roller endseal, a developer roller magnetic seal, a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor, a developer roller electrobushing contact or a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 3. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller scraper.
- 4. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller endseal.
- 5. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller magnetic seal.
- 6. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor.
- 7. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller electrobushing contact.
- 8. An improved electrical connection device as in claim 1 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 9. An improved toner cartridge used in an image forming apparatus such as a dry toner style printer, copy machine or facsimile machine;
whereby said toner cartridge consists of a toner hopper and a waste toner hopper;
whereby said waste toner hopper consists of a photoreceptor, a cleaning blade, a charge roller and a container to receive waste toner; whereby said toner hopper consists of a storage tank and a rotating developer roller;
whereby said developer roller is supplied a bias voltage through a chain of electrical components; and one said electrical component in said chain is an electrical connection device; and wherein said electrical connection device has more functions than just supplying a bias voltage to said rotating developer roller; and by using an electrical connection device that performs more functions, a less costly and more efficient image forming apparatus may be made using a shorter toner hopper, a shorter toner cartridge and therefore a shorter image forming apparatus; and with a shorter toner cartridge, it saves shipping costs to endusers; and with a shorter image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus costs less to ship, takes less desk space and has a more competitive edge in the marketplace.
- 10. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller scraper, a developer roller endseal, a developer roller magnetic seal, a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor, a developer roller electrobushing contact or a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 11. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller scraper.
- 12. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller endseal.
- 13. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller magnetic seal.
- 14. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor.
- 15. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller electrobushing contact.
- 16. An improved toner cartridge as in claim 9 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 17. An improved image forming apparatus consisting of a dry toner style printer, copy machine, microfiche machine or facsimile machine;
whereby said image forming apparatus makes an image on media; where media may be paper, overhead slide media, microfilm, plastic, labels, cardboard, disk labels, CDROM labels or any other printable media used with said image forming apparatus; whereby said image forming apparatus contains a toner storage container, a waste toner hopper a photoreceptor, a cleaning blade, a fuser section, a photoreceptor charging device and a transfer section; whereby said toner storage container has a storage tank and a rotating developer roller;
whereby said developer roller is supplied a bias voltage through a chain of electrical components; and one said electrical component in said chain is an electrical connection device; and wherein said electrical connection device has more functions than just supplying a bias voltage to said rotating developer roller; and by performing more functions, a less costly and more efficient image forming apparatus may be made using a shorter toner hopper, a shorter toner cartridge and therefore a shorter image forming apparatus; and with a shorter toner cartridge, it saves shipping costs to endusers; and with a shorter image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus costs less to ship, takes less desk space and has a more competitive edge in the marketplace.
- 18. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller scraper, a developer roller endseal, a developer roller magnetic seal, a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor, a developer roller electrobushing contact or a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 19. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller scraper.
- 20. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller endseal.
- 21. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller magnetic seal.
- 22. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor.
- 23. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a developer roller electrobushing contact.
- 24. An improved image forming apparatus as in claim 17 wherein said electrical connection device also acts as a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 25. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller;
whereby the developer roller is supplied a bias voltage through a chain of electrical components; and one electrical component in the chain is an electrical connection device; and wherein the electrical connection device has more functions than just supplying a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller; and by performing more functions, a less costly and more efficient image forming apparatus may be made using a shorter toner hopper, a shorter toner cartridge and therefore a shorter image forming apparatus; and with a shorter toner cartridge, it saves shipping costs to endusers; and with a shorter image forming apparatus, the image forming apparatus costs less to ship, takes less desk space and has a more competitive edge in the marketplace.

A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a developer roller scraper, a developer roller seal, a developer roller magnetic seal, a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor, a developer roller electrobushing contact or a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
- 27. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a developer roller scraper.
- 28. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a developer roller seal.
- 29. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a developer roller magnetic seal.
- 30. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a developer roller electrobushing contact.
- 31. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a device for controlling the space between developer roller and photoreceptor.
- 32. A method of providing a bias voltage to a rotating developer roller as in claim 25 wherein said method involves use of an electrical connection device which also acts as a device for positioning a developer roller drive gear.
